Not a badly spec'd machine at all. Lenovo themselves had this at £600 but they went pretty quickly looking at the thread. Anyways, this is £649.99, which is still a good price, all things considered. It does have a DVD Rom Drive, if you're wondering.

I know a lot of people don't care much for pre-builts and like to build their own. Although not everyone has the time, knowledge or time to get the knowledge... in order to do that. Building is fun, but not always an option. At £649.99 all in, it's a nice little set up that will be decent for gaming.

The case is quite nice looking IMO, compared to some out there that tend to go OTT (By my own boring standards )

Nope, there's no SSD in here, although you could whack one in fairly cheaply if you wanted to grab one for a boot drive. Personally I think I'd opt for a hybrid drive later down the line, to give a nice boost to loading speeds, as well as having the extra storage at a cheaper price than going all out on a larger SSD.

Each to their own there though!

Specs

  • Intel Core i5-6400 Processor
  • 8GB RAM
  • 1TB HDD
  • Windows 10 Home
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX1060 6GB Graphics
  • 90DF00CMUK

How well does it game? (For those that don't know)

As for it suitability for gaming, it really isn't a bad option for this price point. Box actually have a "Can You Run it" section on site for each PC that will help you figure out what kind of performance you'd get from it. It's a rough guide that looks based off the min/rec requirements for each game. But might be of use if there's something that you want to check out specifically

Inb4 can it run Minecraft / Crysis
Minecraft

Crysis
2889898.jpg
Joking aside, you should get decent frames on some top games

GTA V
2889898.jpgIIRC the i5-6400 Boosts to 3.30 GHz, so should be fine re: the CPU anyway - The graph is based on the 2.7Ghz. Like I say it's a rough guide, there are some benchmarks showing around 50-60fps on GTA at 1080p

PUBG

Check out YT if you want to see what kind of frames you can expect
Search " i5-6400 gtx 1060 6gb 8gb " With the name of the game you're wanting to play - I know most will know this, but I thought I'd try and get ahead of any questions to save some of you some time.

Purchased one of these for a family friend 18 months ago. The 1tb drive was actually a hybrid SSHD.

Only downside is that, whilst Lenovo trumpet the size and volume of the case for expansion, they don't provide any brackets to mount further drives. Other than that, case is of a high quality, and given the 1060 is £300 alone these days, represents good value IMO.

It's for my mum, she would just be using it for Facebook, bingo and online games so not needing anything to fancy and the monitor is fine on the one she has currently so would just be the tower needed.Cheers

Is there a reason you have set a £400 budget for a computer just to do that on?

If the online games are nothing heavy, you could easily get a £200-300 computer that will do all of that no problem.
Decent price considering the 1060 would eat half that budget easily if you had to build it yourself. Even more so if the main drive really is a SSHD.

RE: mounting drives, unless you want the internals to look really nice or regularly move your PC around (why?) you can stick HDDs pretty much anywhere they will fit without any harm e.g. laying on the bottom of the case would be fine (so long as you don't block a fan)

Oh that's nice then! I was looking at which drives are in here and some sources indicate a 7200rpm drive, but not much more info than that. Will see if I can find anymore info on that. Cheers

Result! In most cases the sshd vs the ssd setup is better for most normal everyday tasks and the added space is there if you need it, unlike a ssd single!

+1 on the gtx1060, should imagine ((like the lenovo direct ones that sold in minutes!)) that these are being purchased to rip the GPU out, use them in a rig, then replace the card with a useless not as valuable hyped up amd one, then resell them! plus on the slightly newer Y range, they appear to have been replaced with lower end, easier to get gtx cards!

SSHDs are nothing but a gimmick and waste of money. Bet off just getting a standard drive and SSD later on.
Good price. I have similar specs, 16gb instead of 8 and an SSD. I paid around this price for the parts.
With the insane prices of DRAM and graphics cards right now way above MSRP, this isn't a bad deal at all.

A 450W supply seems like just enough, not sure on extensibility, but an ok overall package. Be mindful that it looks like a H170 board, so no overclocking and any 'K' chips are wasted on this system.

As an example of the high component prices right now, the best I could do was £852 for like for like parts, in stock. uk.pcpartpicker.com/lis…329

That's not the way Lenovo work - the details are in the full model type.

90DF00CMUK - 90DF is the family identifier, the rest indicates a specific specification and region. Different CPU, Graphics, HDD combinations will have different model types.
Great price. I wouldn't necessarily believe can you run it results. I've got an i3 and a gtx 1060 6gb and it performs well above what that website suggests.

Not really.
As close as you can really get with what they tell you, the like-for-like price if you built it yourself would be around the £750 mark. Excluding a Windows 10 license. uk.pcpartpicker.com/lis…NnH

No operating system

No SSD

Ebuyer customer service (which is shockingly bad)

AMD

I think that's a really bad choice to provide somebody and a pretty lazy effort mate

I would personally recommend this one.

itzoo.co.uk/col…pro

Use code "NEWCUSTOMER" to bring the price down to £280

Yes it is a refurb but itzoo are great to deal with and have really good customer service reviews. You still get 12 months warranty (the same you would get with ebuyer)

i7, SSD, Windows 10 installed, Dedicated graphics card

It's twice the machine from Ebuyer, for the same price, and P*sses all over it to be honest

It was a lazy effort, I was busy at the time. Thanks for finding this.

Although personally I use AMD CPU and there's nothing wrong with them.

She also wouldn't need an SSD with what she is using it for.

i5-2400 still is awesome
integrated graphics should suffice for online games assuming their browser based but could put a 750ti in (i still have one of those on a refurbished pc build)
4gb of ram

£120

Agreed. Don't waste money on a hybrid SSD/HDD drive.
Stick with the internal 1TB hard drive, or add another if you need more storage, and get a cheap 120/240GB SSD for your OS booting and applications
Might be worth checking the seller Laptop Outlets website as the spec looks like it incorrectly states GTX 1060 graphics card on Amazon. Looks to me as both have Integrated Intel HD 530 Graphics

When searching for Lenovo Y700, these 2 products came up as cheapest at 649.99 & 659.99.
Been building systems for about 20 years, this appears to be a great deal (at the moment) as graphics cards have risen in cost due to mining. It would be great if someone can report back if the motherboard has an m.2 slot. Stick an nvme drive in there and it will last you years. Big fan of lenovo hardware myself

I would expect though in the coming months that you'll see more deals like this, to allow people to get graphics cards at reasonable prices, factor in the cost of the card when looking at a system over the next few months, I'm fairly certain you'll find pre-built systems will be loads cheaper than picking up the parts for diy. The tides turned on diyers sadly.

Personally, unless I was going for something super high end with hard line watercooling, i'd just buy a machine like this, life is too short! I just want something that works and can game on that's reasonably quiet. I'm sure this ticks all of the boxes.

The i3 8100 processor is 33% faster than the I5 -6400 one, however you will gain approximately 17% on applications. Plus you get an additional 8 gb ram. So the overclockers one will be much better - but you are paying £100 more.

I think this system is DDR3 RAM? If so there is no upgrade path here.. really just paying for the GPU. Could easily get old tech like this on eBay and a new 1060 GPU.
