The reviews are interesting.
Looks like the same one i got from very couple months back worked out 270 ish after rebates. First one had some battery issue would turn off around 30% for some strange reasons, second replacement order soon as starting would make a continious clicking sound, all throughout the instalition process clicking sound, then regulary for several seconds, disappear, back again etc.
Bought these for my kids for Christmas. Good build quality, not highest spec but works fine for homework, YouTube etc. Don't know about games as they don't use them for that.
Picture resolution is good, no DVD drive but can easily buy separate USB one..
Good deal can't get much for this price especially i3 8th, good deal plus it's serviceable, memory can be upgraded and m. 2 ssd can be upgraded to higher capacity
Fixed loads of these for schools, parts readly available and decent build quality

Why would you upgrade from 8GB unless dealing with higher end editing software?
Nothing major, just fixing hinge damages caused by students, and keyboard spillages, overall quite durable, motherboards failures rare
hot

Normally you don't need to, plus this has a ddr 4 memory slot, giving you option to upgrade or replace existing memory if it ever failed, some laptop like macbook there ram is soldered on to the mainboard, thus no upgrade option or repair option
Battery life looks between 6-8 hours depending on the site purchased from (did a google) so bare that in mind. Hot!
Ordered...will post more once it arrives and i get to test use
Ive ordered and going to take back the Chromebook. This is for a student to take to college and library to use, she had bought a Celeron Chromebook- this should bit better as windows is a more resource hog but at least with this she is using familiar applications.

here is a review, its without SSD and has only 4GB ram but will give you an idea.: digit.in/rev…tml
The reviews on amazon are not good.
Price has gone up already. Shame.

Thats a shame. Was a good deal at that price.
Does anyone know if the ram is 2x4gb or 1x8gb? Also is it soldered on?

Finally is it m.2 sdd?

Thanks
Could of been had from Very a while back for £266 after cashback.
Mines not missed a beat.

How's the battery life? It claims upto 2 hours with 15 min charge
Is it ips screen? My idea pad is bang on apart from the crappy screen.

Lenovo and review I posted earlier state say about 6-7. I would say 6 is probably what you would get, the review had a HD in it this one has SSD so should use a little less baterry

Where do any of those tell me if it comes with 1x8gb or 2x4gb?

Turns out it's 2x4gb and one is soldered.

This means it can only run 8gb in dual channel mode.

An explanation of dual channel mode and why it matters:

This video is proving only that dual channel setup do matter when it comes to £2.5k PC. But in pc build using mainstream Intel parts it more or less irrelevant. For AMD it's different story. Also its not true that memory's in dual channels configuration need to be same capacity. You can mix 4gb and 8gb modules as long as timings are identical.

In my own experience I could tell the difference on a core i3 laptop with dual channel memory.

Surely any benefits (increased memory bandwidth) would be more significant in a lower spec laptop such as this compared to a 2.5k computer.

Also the Intel graphics in this Lenovo use this system memory. The 2.5k computer most likely has dedicated graphics with its own memory.

"You can mix 4gb and 8gb". Yes but it will be the first 8gb (4gb+4gb) that runs in dual channel and not 12gb

"This video is proving only that.....£2.5k PC" How does it prove what your saying when he didn't test it on a lower spec pc. He only used that computer cos it's what he happens to own lol

This is the improvement on a similar core i3 with Intel 620 graphics

Is 26% irrelevant?
Got mine well impressed good solid built, low profile and looks like one of those sleek Apple Laptops, IPS screen has good viewing angle not full colour range. With 8Gb RAM and SSD its very quick. Used VMWARE on it with a CHROME OS system and it worked with no stutter.

For this price compared to a Chromebook with paltry Atome or Celeron processor this is good.

I think CPU have Hyperthreading and supports VM.

Charges really fast too.

Thanks op for sharing, me child is well delighted and returning the unopened Chromebook she purchased few days earlier which retails at £200

Price down to £268

From what I've read you can use nvme drives in it as well (although it only comes with a sata3 drive) so you can boost performance that way as well, at least your future proofed

Thanks. I’ve not looked at the hardware maintenance manual I linked earlier on. It’s good to know.

Just to add i find the touch pad a bit too smooth. It’s still very responsive.
