that doesn't compromise on performance

it has an n2840
I bought the 100-151BD (i3/4GB/500GB) from Tesco Direct for £199 new using C&C. Once I had it working I found the sound to be absolutely dreadful - quite the worst I've ever heard from any laptop and probably from any device. you need it at full volume to hear anything, it lacks any bass any probably any middle so it's just harsh treble and distorted. It went back in the box within 15 minutes of getting it working and took it back next day. Have to say the returns process worked a treat and credit back onto my card there and then.
I've never had a Lenovo and this has somewhat put me off the brand ( the one-off button is tiny and poorly positioned so a nightmare to use but I could have lived with that). In the end I bought an Acer for £66 more at Staples better spec and it is head and shoulders above the Lenovo. I'm still somewhat shocked that Lenovo could think such audio would be acceptable to the market even as entry level !

That's enormously more powerful than 486 processor when I was using Windows 3.1. Perfectly adequate to surf HOTUKDEALS and buy stuff and to prepare the Queen's speech and publish government white papers. Now you list the things listed here following that this N2840 wouldn't do, surfing, MP3 music, watch downloaded 720p videos, mail, Microsoft Office documents, skype, viber, social networking, BBCiplayer, music streaming web sites.
I did not buy the other day at £79 used, really useless
I bought it from Tesco last week, it was £179.99, good laptop.
It is true sound is poor, but I don't use sound for web surfing and use bluetooth headset for occasional Netflix.
