Any idea what processor this has,, the main title and the specification read different (i5-6260U vs i5-6200U)
Also does this have a graphics chip or is it on board?

It's a misprint, it's actually i5-6200u.

The speeds match the 6200u and it's the cheaper of the two, so that one.
On board graphics 520

Is this TN or IPS? My current laptop is TN, and watching movies/shows on it, is not a great experience.

15.6" screen.

I suspect the battery is the drawback - 2-cell polymer 30WH battery is not going to give much time is it?

This looks reasonable! Any feedback from tech savvy members!?

the u at the end of the processor stands for ultra low power consumption. the processor will be **** and the notebook is designed to be light and mobile. rather than the traditional laptop which was designed to be portable.

Decent price for a quality specced Laptop. :-)

The chip gets a score of 4000 on Passmark. That's plenty fast enough for a normal laptop.

Yeah...not really.

The i5-6200u has more than enough processing power for the average computer user. Sure, it'd be useless for playing modern AAA games or other high intensity workloads, but that's irrelevant as this laptop clearly isn't designed for those kind of tasks.

For browsing the web, doing office work, playing back 1080p video etc the i5-6200u will perform admirably for years to come.

In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if in lots of cases the relatively cheap, plastic body of this laptop fell apart before the CPU became so outdated it struggled with basic day to day computing tasks.

I think it is pretty decent. So it isn't a HQ and it isn't as clocked as high as the i5-6287U but I think it is ok. Personally if I'm going Full HD I prefer a bigger screen, I kind of feel the 15" doesn't get the best out of full HD. YMMV.

thanks. my sister is looking for a laptop.. but I struggle to find good deals because I have a gamer pc mentality and so all laptop are a piece of crap to me

would this be good enough to play farming simulator? my son wants a new laptop for everyday use (browsing, word docs etc), but likes farming simulator.

Is this the same laptop JL had for £250 but with an i5 processor instead of an i3?

Except for the screen, I think ebuyer HP 250 G5 is a better deal. i5, 8gb ram, 250gb ssd and also a free tablet thrown in for only £399. It would be worth to check that out.

I'm a gamer too...it doesn't stop me seeing whether or not a non-gaming computer is good value for its intended purpose.

The 4.7Ghz i5-4690k in my PC would be way more powerful than this i5-6200u, but it'd make no real difference to day to day performance and it'd make the laptop's battery last about 5 mins. More power isn't always better in every situation.

If you (or your sister) need any advice, feel free to drop me a PM. It's always nice to know someone has got a computer that suits their purpose at a good price.

Seems a nice deal - cant decide between these now - Full HD or an SSD ? Any real difference in build quality or design that makes one of these the better deal?

If I had to make a choice, I'd personally spend the money on the better display. You can always upgrade to an SSD at a later date (and keep the spinny drive for other purposes), but you're stuck with the screen for the lifetime of the product.

Good point - Think I'll head to PC World for a look at this - Such a shame it's PC World.

Is it better then the argos deal from cyber Monday. The one that was £405 with the bag and mouse?

I bought a similar one and although the speed was good... the Audio was AWFUL. Seriously awful. Worth noting if you don't have a headset to compensate.

Ignore Stan. It's a good point that it's a bit of a waste of a hi def screen.

How well would this run Football Manager 2017?

Please, can someone tell me if this is good for autocad?

Well enough

Excellent laptop for the price!!!

Yes, farming simulator works fine on amd A8 and that is a lower spec than this machine.

i bought this laptop during black friday but different spec, A12 9700p(slightly slower proccesor, similar graphics) from john lewis for £330 came with 3 year warranty and 12gb ram(despite advertising 8gb). It's an ok laptop for what i paid, build quality is very plastic, 3.5 hrs of battery and has difficulty running even old games but i wasn't expecting much anyway, mount and blade multiplayer( almost 10year old game) 40fps on all low/med settings 1080p. The mouse pad has trouble registering quick single taps which was disappointing but i use a mouse so it isn't much of an issue. i have felt a bit of lag initially accessing programs but seems perform faster afterwards (opening unity scripts took 12s first time, but after closing and reopening took 4-5s) this is more of an issue to do with the hard drive more than anything else, fairly quiet fans. Web browsing, unity work and watching videos have been fine for me.

Have you got a link for this offer? Can't see the free tablet with this deal? Cheers

In the market for a laptop that is i5 + ssd preferably, 8gb ram. Majority of use is photos music and browsing. Any suggestions for a quality machine around £400 mark?

Appreciate all advice

Bought HP 250 G5 with i5 6200u, 8 GB RAM, 250 GB SSD, full hd for £400. Got it from Ebay sealed. I think it was the same price at laptopsdirect but missed that deal. Very happy with the performance, screen is a bit dull.

Ordered, managed to get 10% because Curry's couldn't fulfil my previous order (Asus laptop on black friday)

Can you add another hdd to make it a hybrid as i need at least 1tb total space for my work.

just got this from John Lewis under price match and got 3yrs warranty .

make sure the colour is silver

Ps if anyone is going to do the same - don't phone them as they wont price match due to warranty not being the same.
Fill the online form in and they match it - got a response in1 hr.

Yes, if you're willing to lose the DVD drive and replace it with a hard drive caddy.
