I thought this was a good deal because of: (1) Full HD screen, (2) Blu Ray drive, 3) 2 year warranty.

Product information

Lenovo’s Ideapad 310 laptop is designed for anybody who wants a dependable laptop at an affordable price. It is perfect for streaming online media, thanks to fast 802.11 a/c WiFi technology, and has a built-in optical drive for backing up your media library.

Powerful processor

The 6th-Generation Intel® Core™ i5 processor will handle whatever you throw at it, allowing you to multi-task, enjoy gaming and work on intensive projects without experiencing any lag. Applications run faster and more efficiently than before, so everything you normally do on a laptop like send email, write reports, create presentations, touch up photos, edit home movies and all the little (and big) tasks in between can be done even quicker. The processors also feature a 'Turbo Boost' that will unleash more power when you need it, so you can handle more programs and intensive tasks without your laptop slowing down.

Superior sound

The experts at Dolby® Laboratories have worked to deliver the laptop’s stereo speakers to bring you a bigger and better sound to get the most out of your music and movie collections.

Extra security

The Ideapad 310 is fitted with a Kensington MiniSaver cable slot to let you securely lock it to an immovable device so it cannot get stolen.

Running Windows 10

Delivering the everyday with an individual touch, Windows 10 gives you access to all of your favourite apps and an improved navigation. It provides an instant start up, quick movement between applications, prompts for available updates and personalised experience. This operating system features Cortana, which learns what's important to you and retrieves relevant updates when needed. Tesco . £379. now
J Lewis £430.
Same 1TB Hybrid; Tesco has additional 4GB RAM
So the JL BlueRay plus additional 1Yr guarantee is extra £50 quid up front;.
------------------------------------------------------------------
I'd probably go for the JL given this choice, but I will never buy another Laptop that doesn't have its OS on a full sized SSD. It so reduces the endless, recurring, boring Windows maintenance chore as well as vastly improving App performance.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you say what Apps you intend to run, other users of those Apps may advise you on how much memory you need, and how it should be configured.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Good luck, whatever you decide.

How does having the OS on an SSD reduce the maintenance chore? Surely you still need to go through the same procedures, or are you just saying it's quicker to do it as it's on an SSD?

SSD have better disk I/O and depending on brand SSD can have read and write of 500MB/s which definitely reduces tasks it also boots quicker! I have Samsung EVO SSD 500GB and boot time is in a matter of seconds!

The JL spec doesn't specify anywhere that the 1TB drive for this is a hybrid.

Thanks everyone. Think I'll go with the Tesco deal. The £20 off voucher still works today

GCHQ will not buy Lenovo products. Maybe they know something you don't. I certainly will not buy anything with thus brand name.

probably because Chinese manufacturer

I've just taken delivery of this laptop from John Lewis. The ability to play Blu-Ray discs is what clinched in for me, however it doesn't play them or at least I can't get the laptop to recognise Blu-Ray discs. My assumption is therefore that it doesn't and the website is incorrect.
