Yeah I know. I'd much rather have a nice screen and a faster machine and have a couple of scratches on the lid, but each to their own.
Absolutely no reason for manufacturers to be shipping laptops with sub 1080p displays. With the advent of better thermal dynamics and energy management, battery life isn't a huge issue and even costs for these screens is negligible.

Anyone that buys a laptop with a sub 1080p display will likely regret doing so if they want to consume media on the device as it'll provide a suboptimal experience and doesn't help with future proofing.

I guess people gonna complain about the display.... But it's still hot for me for the price and the specs..... 🔥

Bit cheesy that comment.
4GB ram...
720p and 4gb ram? Fairly poor, you'd be much better off getting something off the dell outlet imo

The public don't set the prices do they. We'd love to buy the above for £299 and full HD screen for £350....but where are they??
Even a 5 inch phone has 1080p. Who in their right mind wants a 15 inch laptop with 720p? Can't vote hot, sorry.

Thanks OP just bought this 👌
Can anyone tell me if I can add RAM and what i should buy?
Also is there a slot for a second SSD?

Because you hold your phone close to your face, your laptop at arms length and your 40"+ TV about 10ft away. What else would you buy for the money that does what this can do?
Recently looking around for a good £400 'ish new 15.6" laptop for a mate and this is a good blend of components at a great price. Me, i wouldn't consider a 720p res screen but there is a sizable minority of people out there who are willing to suspend their critical faculties and are perfectly happy to forego a Full HD screen as long as the price is right. The bang up to date 8th gen cpu. makes up for a lot and 8GB ram would be nice but unfortunately we don't live in a perfect world. At least, not at under £350 we don't. Hot

I have a 60" tv about 7ft away. That's 4k. We're splitting hairs.

You're right about the price. I personally wouldn't buy a pc for that price, I'd buy an android tablet or Chromebook with effectively the same functionality. Or save up for better laptop.
CPU is good for the price but it's a poor screen, low amount of RAM, and not much storage.
For this budget I'd rather get an older CPU with better everything else.

Yeah, I'm with you there. My Chromebook has been faultless. Never blistering fast but hasn't got slower over the years.

Crucial sell memory for this. £40.99 for 4GB and £70.99 for 8GB. There is a free slot for onee stick.
do urself a favour and don't waste money, this laptop is terrible and dead slow
Whats missing? 8gb ram and 1080p display. Would pay for £400 for those extras.

Where can I pick up 1000000 screens at negligible cost so that I can start building laptops and make a fortune?

Can't post a link for some reason but for an extra 100 you can get a machine with FULL HD and 8GB RAM but with a 1TB HDD instead of an SSD and a 7 series i5 instead of a 8 series i5 CPU.

This looks like a great deal to me. However there are comments that this is 8th gen processor, the datasheet on Amazon says 7th generation, can anyone clarify? Which is the case it's Hot at this price.

Kills your credibility when you think android or a chromebook has anywhere near the same functionality as Windows.

i5-8250U in the title and ‘features and details’ on Amazon so 8th gen
thx OP

7594 Benchmark score - HOT!
I guess its unrealistic to swop out the screen ?
Even with the ram, some management on things that startup with the computer on boot or uninstalling stuff one does not use, this pc theoretically is great value for the money. Decent keyboard as well I would think for a budget laptop.
