Where? Are you sure?
128gb SSD in this
This is full hd!
Yesterday's only 720p I guess
Would. Be good to post full specs in the description...
Why are all these US keyboard laptops suddenly taking over here? Also note this is a 14 inch screen.
Edited by: "nascent" 31st Dec 2017
Is this an IPS screen? Description just says “LCD”.
I just bought this and am loving it so far to be honest. You get used to the 14" and the processor is very decent.
Anyone know how many ram slots it has, specifically if it has a spare slot for more ram.
And is it a 2.5inch ssd as I would look to upgrade that too.
Is it easy to open up and change the ssd/ram?
cheers

Only 1 RAM slot, but it takes a max of 8GB anyway.
The 128GB drive is an M.2 PCIe SSD, but it has space for a 2.5in SATA drive as well. Would guess they can be used in tandem.
To access these you need to take the bottom off (undo screws and prize the casing apart); doesn't seem too hard IMO.

Not sure whether to go for this or the i3-7100u 4GB version that's £350. Considering you'd need to dispose of the original stick of RAM and an 8GB stick is going for about £80 both deals look good, just not sure whether I want to spend the extra money.

PS: From what others have said in that thread I think the screen is IPS so you'd think it would be the same in this.

No probs.

You obviously think it's worth going for then? I can get about £38 off via work so might buy one myself.

Been searching around for ages and this seems like a really good spec at the moment. If not in a hurry I'm sure a few more deals will pop up but hard to match these specs for under £500

There's an HP Pavilion at Currys which has the same processor, same size SSD (though it's SATA), and 14in FHD IPS but much better claimed battery life for £500. Only 4GB of RAM but it has two slots and can take 16GB which is better than this Lenovo for futureproofing. Can't find any proper reviews of it online though, just some people on Amazon saying the keyboard is badly designed as it's too hard to see the letters.

Remembered now why I hate buying laptops, there's always something that appears to be a little bit better for a little bit more money.
Hot.

Actually, anyone that actually received theirs, can you confirm which keyboard you get. The pictures on the site show US layout, but there are UK versions of this.
There's a pic of the keyboard from a member on one of the other threads, sure that confirmed it was a UK layout.

Thanks. I just reserved a laptop. If anyone else can confirm that it's a UK layout keyboard (with a decent enter button) it'd be much appreciated.

This processor is awesome so fast. I got the Asus advertised on black Friday from amazon, and because they lied about the screen, got them to discount it to £400 so got myself a bargain.

Interesting. That notes Memory8 GB DDR4 (soldered)
Guess that kills any hopes of upgrading

It definitely has a slot for RAM but 8GB is the max it can take anyway according to the service manual.
Sweet but I’m still waiting on a similar model with the NVIDIA MX150. Have some heat’

Eh? The review says that the RAM is upgradable and can take up to 16GB in its single slot. No mention of it being soldered in place, other than from some confused souls in the comments.

Saw this HP today. The keys are very small and they feel a bit loose and plasticky. The touch screen is nice and the laptop looks good, but we opted for the Lenovo on balance.

From being unsure about an i3 or 8th gen i5 I've decided to go the other way and get a Pentium.

Going for the Yoga I've posted here: hotukdeals.com/dea…879
Bought this today, not opened it yet, can anyone confirm it has an empty 2.5 inch ssd slot so I can put my samsung evo in.
Thanks

Just taken the back off, very easy to do. So there is a nice empty slot for my 250gb ssd to go into which I will be putting in once I work out how to install a fresh copy of Windows on it without deleting any of my current files.

Not sure where the ram is ? Can anyone spot i, would love to put 16gb in it as it would be a beast then with the 8th gen i5

This is a cracking deal with the £30 off through quidco

The RAM is under that silver shielding, slap bang in the middle.

Is the space for a 2.5" drive in the top left there? I've just ordered one after checking it our in store and being very happy with how the IPS screen looks.

I'm not experienced in these matters, but why would you put Windows on your 250GB SSD and not just keep it on the pre-installed M.2 drive, and use your other one for data?

Cheers, I will have a closer look tomorrow at that silver shielding, hopefully there is a second ram slot there.
Yes, under the top left silver shielding its empty space for a 2.5inch drive where im putting my ssd.

Reason im putting windows 10 on that drive is I like windows 10 pro as I can use bitlocker encryption - and the orignal windows installation is 10 home edition which doesnt have bitlocker and I dont want to wipe that away so I will just leave that in place and when I come to selling the laptop in the future it will be a nice simple whip out my ssd and the original m2 has got the win 10 home on it ready for the next user. Sorry if its a bit confusing to understand, basically I dont want to wipe away the original installation of windows so that its less messy for me when I come to sell it, so I will just use my own ssd for windows 10 pro and use bitlocker.

ps everyone should be using bitlocker, if your laptop gets stolen its easy to bypass windows 'passwords' or pin by putting the drive in an enclosure and just reading all your personal files etc, with bitlocker they have no chance as the whole drive is encrypted meaning its impossible for any normal person to get at your files.

Haha, it makes perfect sense. I was mostly only asking to reassure myself that my plans for whacking in a large mechanical drive would be fine.

I don't use BitLocker because I don't have Windows Pro, but I use 3rd party encryption software (Cryptainer) on my important documents, so I should be good in the event of a theft.

Have you got RAM slot? what is the maximum RAM? what about battery life? Does currys allow opening backcover to install new RAM / SSD?
I bought this but returned it WiFi was not so good as it kept cutting out unless you where near the router I live in a solid brick house so not so good.

Other than that it's a nice laptop and seemed speedy enough.
