I have bought 3 laptops in the last 6 months including a 17" and none of them have had a dvd drive,
I think they have been ditched to facilitate thiness and lightness.

That's a lot of laptop for the money
I have the same spec laptop with the Ryzen 5 processor (7344 benchmark), it is an absolute stunner, fast, thin, very narrow bezels and a gorgeous proper full HD screen.

I would be buying this if I had not bought it.

Just get an external USB DVD drive instead. I have one and have only used it handful of times over the past few years.
Ryzen 7 at this price is great. 5 is good but 7 has the extra Vega cores and 200Mhz more on the CPU. It's not that much faster than 5 due to the 15W TDP limit but both are good chips. For £450, this is a near perfect blend of hardware and decent chassis too.
Website down at the mo, is this in-store fancy a wee look at it. Heat!
I was going to wait for Black Friday, but have decided to order this. Looks good! Thanks OP!
Computer novice here- how does AMD Ryzen compare to Intel?

Is there any major drawbacks for choosing AMD over intel?
The reviews on the Currys website aren't very encouraging
Anybody give any recommendations for a laptop. General use such as browsing youtube and uni work. Bonus if I can do some light gaming. Budget between £450 to £550

Nevermind, keyword was checkout, sucks you can't add it to the basket. Code does work for this one, too. Decisions desicions
Why on earth do these manufacturers put the scratchpad on the left hand side of the machine for, that alone makes this laptop a no for me.
how would this be for playing minecraft, fortnight and steam games?

I'd go for the Acer Aspire 5 with the 2nd Gen Ryzen 3500u instead for the same price.
Vega 10 is not as good as vega 8 next Generation, less issues with throttling when gaming.

On a professional level no, even though this has a good IPS display, it does not have good enough Adobe colour coverage.
You probably need to upgrade for more RAM too.

Better graphics performance if you're interested in light gaming.
Intel is slightly more efficient and a little bit cooler to run.

That's the one, the Aspire 5. Also, has better battery life and RAM is easily upgradable to 16GB.
Also, support dual RAM mode as shown in the video, watch it in Full-HD. It's pretty impressive..

This is an Aspire 3 with 16GB RAM.
