I have just phoned Very up as I purchased this yesturday. I got them to do a price adjustment and apply the code. (_;)

Is this the i5 6200U processor?

Good find. Is that for new customers only.

It is but it seems to work regardless...
Just be aware that ShopDirect stores have been known to pull codes where used incorrectly and subsequently take the money that was saved by using the code.

Yes

My wife has been asking about for a new laptop, this seems like a great deal, even without the code seems cheaper than other places - so one order placed here, thanks for spotting it op

This has the same processor as HP's deal yesterday, instead it has SSD and is full HD too. + It is 1kg lighter than HP, but works out around £40 more expensive, decisions, decisions..

Hows the battery life on this? 2 Cell battery screams "plugged in all the time" to me

says 4.5hours so probably around 3 at a guess

Looking to upgrade my nearly 5 year old Dell E6220 which has an i5-2520m and the battery lasts about 2-3 hours. This has a processor that about the same spec, and a battery that will probably last 2-3 hours - I'm out.

looks like it's gone back up to £430 now

Still showing as £399 for me, without code applied.

What if you pay by Paypal?

Interesting, if I copy and paste the link into a new incognito window it shows £399 correctly but just clicking the deal link in this browser it shows £429.30, the power of internet cookies!

You can get more battery life if you tweak the power setting https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eM5UbGuVfk
I get probably extra 20% battery life because the fan doesn't come on and it runs silent now on my Dell E6220. you can do this on other or older laptops as well.

Very tempted. Was going to get one of these:

anyone know if the one in the link is £200+ better than the one in the post?

Good point - that is a new option and they can't take more than you send...

Depends what you're looking for. The Zenbook is arguably the 'nicer' machine - it's lighter (1.2kg instead of 1.5kg) and prettier, and has considerably better battery life (7 hours vs 3), but it is quite a lot more expensive, and only has an M core processor which will be quite a lot slower than the i5-6200u that the ideapad has.

I've been looking at the zenbooks, but I'm incredibly tempted by this ideapad. Does anyone else have anything they can add to sway my decision (or any other potential machines?).

This laptop in this deal is better value.

I'm sooo tempted, anyone know what the screen is like? I don't want it if it's washed out and viewing angles are bad.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_EzDRdBLW4

Good review there from NotebookcheckReviews. Apparently the screen is fairly dark (no good for outdoor use) but apart from that looks very positive.

I have thrown caution to the wind and bought this, I would usually spend days deliberating over buying a laptop but this deal seems great and ticks a lot of boxes for me.

One thing I will be looking at is upgrading/expanding the storage - I will probably replace the 128gb SSD with a bigger one. Also I can't find anywhere confirming whether this has an m2 SSD slot - any ideas?

What are the returns like at Very?

I notice it says under the product that:
"Non returnable under our Approval Guarantee, once installed or connected. Your statutory rights are not affected. See Returns section in our Help pages for more information."

Somehow I don't think this applies, as in reality they should have to take it back with 14 days under DSR surely?

Ordered.

Hate this site... just bought it also the Ulefone Paris phone for £56 for good measure lol.

Is it windows 10? Could not find about that in the product details in very website..

New zenbook coming might reduce the current price...

In reply to Uns post,
Regarding returning expensive electronic items with V*** .
It,s a grey area with them.
If you break open the security seal on the actual laptop box then decide to change your mind and return they will probably accept a return.
However if you actually power up the laptop then change your mind about the purchase they will refuse the return as item has been open and since used and they will fob you off and insist you deal with the manufacturer directly.
Hopefully some other kind peeps here will clarify this better.
I am only going by personal dealing when purchased a well known tablet maker which, when opened and turned on showed some dead pixels.
I contacted CS and asked for replacement as item was brand new and was shocked to be told by V*** CS as the item was powered on it was up to me to contact manufacturer direct.
I did complain to line manager but to no avail.
The CS is hit and miss with them i,m afraid.
They are notoriously fickle when it comes to returns, especially gadgets.
Hopefully you will get helpful CS if you decide to return. Just stick yo your guns with Sale of Goods Act.
Hope this helps with your decision to keep or not.
thanks

What do you not understand?
The massive clue is 'doesn't affect your statutory rights'
