Seems like great specs for the price in terms of i5 & 940 graphics. Yes it has no SSD however for casual use more storage could be a better option.

Thoughts?

good deal!

Don't forget 10% quidco ends today.

There is also this one with a ssd

For that price, with 10% CB, pretty good.

Great deal, very tempting but not needed(_;)

If you want a proper gaming laptop you'd be looking to spend £1000+.

This will play games from a few years ago on low quality and the odd indie game, but that's about it. Don't expect to play GTA 5 or any high end, new games with this.

There's a Medion laptop recently posted with a 1060m, which is a very high end card for a laptop and will run anything. It's quite cheap and a good deal, at £850, but the manufacturer isn't the best and it won't be great quality.

If you want a gaming laptop it's basically go big or go home. Getting anything cheap will just leave you frustrated when it can't play many games.

To be honest your better off building your own gaming pc I did and it was a lot cheaper than buying one. This link should help you
https://pcpartpicker.com

You can look at other gamers own pc builds or ask the forums for there advice on the budget you have they will tell you what you could build

thanks op just bought for my 7yr old for Xmas also quidco only tracked £3.58 for me on a £429 buy Lol don't no if I missed something as I am new to quidco but I got double that on a low value ps+ card

I know, but Currys are notorious for pulling good deals if they get too popular and iv'e a feeling this one might go up before black Friday, so i took the early gamble. Hope the waiting game pays off for you

As someone with 800 hours on Rust, it's an unoptimised mess. I turn the settings on medium with my 970 and I only get 40-50 FPS in some places.

There's rarely any good deals on laptops, to be quite honest. You'd think that the older a laptop gets, the price would drop but that's not always the case, in many cases it actually gets more expensive the older it gets.

For Rust being played well on a laptop I'd imagine you'd need a 1060m. Anything else and I can't imagine it doing well, since my 970 struggles. You're better off either building a desktop with that money or going saving up. I wouldn't suggest a budget gaming laptop, Rust will stutter the hell out of it.

Edit: Oh, you said Desktop deals my bad, thought it said laptop. Just build it yourself and buy parts on sale. Or buy the parts yourself and then take it to an IT technician and ask them to build it for you. Usually around £30-50. Haggle if higher.

If you buy a pre-built desktop they're usually adding a £200-300+ premium and they will usually skimp on the build (Awful PSU, which can destroy your computer, not high quality RAM, poor CPU cooler etc)

At 30fps, yeah, sure on low-medium settings which drops to 20's in the cities. But I think anything less than 60 isn't optimal or smooth or fun to even play. You'll get constant stuttering too and the game will look awful to boot. Considering all of that, I barely see the point.

My 12-year-old daughter needs a laptop for school work, iTunes and not much more (no gaming, for example). Is it worth spending this amount or would this be just as useful? hotukdeals.com/dea…916

They're both the same, the only difference being the CPU and RAM.

The more expensive one is about 20% faster in terms of raw power and has twice as much RAM.

It's all about buying a laptop at the sweet spot. Buying a budget laptop could leave you frustrated when you notice your computer starts to get slow when trying to do many things (Having FB, twitter, youtube, homework etc open all at the same time will slow this down eventually). At the same time you don't want to spend a huge amount, especially when it's for a kid who could be bored with it after a month and never use it again.

If you have any questions or want any help just drop me a message.
