Windows 10 SHowever, a pro key shouldn't be too much.

Home is fine, no need to spend money.

Go to Settings.
Then select Update & Security.
In the left sidebar, click Activation.
Then click “Go to the Store.”
You will see under the “Switch to Windows 10 Home / Pro” section.
Press the “Get” button under the “Switch out of S Mode” section and wait for the process to complete. (edited)

I don't think he's complaning about the amount of RAM, he's complaining that you can not upgrade it. And I completely agree with him, many of these offers would be more interesting if you could upgrade the RAM, especially the ones that come with only 4GB

Any modern distro should work fine but with Linux you can never be sure that all components are going to work properly, it's better to try a live version before installing it permanently. (edited)

I love the keyboards on older ThinkPads. I have a macbook air at the moment and am not a fan of the flatter keyboard at all. Find it makes me make more mistakes.

I'd mainly be writing on this machine if I bought it.

I’m with you. This ideapad was to replace my much loved Lenovo X230…I don’t think it’ll replace it. The keyboard is perfectly good…not totally flat…it’s not as good as my x230 but I don’t think anything will best it. It’s a good laptop. Lenovo has a £200 off sale last weekend so I got it for £349. It’s very good value for money.

Don't thinks its on this version, you have to buy from Lenovo directly through lenovo education site, just search for thread on hduk

Also be mindful of the widespread Lenovo hinge problem, looks like they are too aggressive in the hinge friction which resukts in the plastic breaking.

You can get it replaced by Lenovo but their default will be its not cover under warranty, but if you persistant and polite they will eventually cover under warranty. (edited)
