Suprised this hasn't been posted on here before either.

I was about to buy pavilion for £499 i5, 8GB ram and 512 SSD, IPS LCD(not LED, which makes small difference but still better than 99%TN screens) and Intel optane seem very good deal but somehow even that does not get extremely hot in here so I was waiting to see if anything else comes up. Thanks for this, another option to consider. Is anyone else recommending something else in under £500?

I was looking at these two, prefer the Acer Swift 3 (Ryzen 5 3500U version)

I went to buy the same HP i5 8gb with 512gb storage as you but when I actually saw the quality of the screen on the HP I decided against it.

I actually have purchased this lenovo last night and the screen is much better although it's a TN one.

All the best.

HP is a 2 gen Ryzen 5 and about £150 more expensive, I would personally stick with the Lenovo

Go in store and have a look at both to get a better feel of them, all the best.

I have compared them in Currys.
The TN display on this Lenovo is budget god awful, it has very limited viewing angles and washed out colours.
Have you looked at the right HP, the i5 10th Generation one. The IPS display on that is beautiful.

Go and see it for yourself people, don't buy this.
I posted a slightly cheaper deal on this a few months ago and saw the same info re the TN screen. Granted, the viewing angle is quite limited but if it's in front of you, the colour and sharpness are actually pretty impressive. As it's a 2in1, I'm assuming it's for personal use. As long as it's not going to be for a few people to crowd around, go for it. You could always view it in store and see what you think?

There was a specific currys code for £50 off a range of laptops, including this one, then a further quidco for AMD laptops plus edenred discount.
It boots up incredibly quickly and battery life is impressive, think it came in approx £370.

U ever run an android emulator on yours like Bluestacks? Does the touch screen work well with it?
Sorry Mike, that means nothing to me
Gonna get Currys to price match the lenovo website and then use my employee 7.5% discount 😏
