Heat! Not as a gaming laptop but for a day to day, work laptop this is great!
Decent hardware for the money.
Poor gpu gaming terms but if u were to compare this to a vega 8 in 3500u its leaps and bounds better. Heat
Shame about the WiFi card only being 1x1. I could do with a 2x2 for faster response times, and unfortunately It's not letting me upgrade the WiFi card.

Ships in "more than 6 weeks" guys, careful if you needed this soon.
With Ryzen 4000 on the way would seem rash to buy anything on this outdated process tech. The new 7nm apus should give this a run for it's money with the added benefits of less power, less cooling, less bulk etc.
Any advice on a general use laptop guys? Like for my son's school work, maybe a bit of football manager. No idea what I should be looking for hardware wise. Doesn't need to be a 'gaming' laptop really. Thanks

for a similar spec 512ssd, 16gb ram 17" ips screen do you think the Ryzen 4000 will be sub £700 if not its not a comparison

AMD products are always cheaper for similar or better performance. They are not so well established in mobile and so will have to follow a similar strategy as they have on the desktop. There will certainly be better spec'd AMD based products for the money (again, with the added reduction in bulk and power usage).

As an side, this is advertised as a 'Gaming Laptop' - both here and by the manufacturer - at which it would be mediocre at best: the gpu is pretty weak. Anyone using the laptop as advertised would be much better served swapping the six core for a quad and going with the GTX1650 instead. Probably be much cheaper than this too.
Hiya, do you think it'll be worth the extra £10 for the backlit keyboard?
Massive delivery delays on this
I've been looking at this and price does seem to creep up as I add the other options. Which is obviously expected. What I want to know Is how much more worth it is the i7 to i5 and 512ssd to 1tb ssd. I will be using it to plug in to two screen at home and use it as a family laptop and the odd game if needed but probably won't be. I wanted to stick to 600 - 650 but all the bells and whistles seem tempting.

Is there anything else you guys would recommend for this price range. A must is USBC.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, if you do decide to upgrade to the i7 and 1tb ssd, customise the '£819.99' model as upgrading the ssd from 512 to 1tb was free. However this model comes with the better gtx 1650 and there's no option to downgrade to the 1050. I was also tempted by all the upgrades and ended up getting i7, 16gb ram, 1tb ssd, gtx 1650 and a backlit keyboard for £747.

This was my question is it worth the £747 or could I get a better system for that kinda cash.

It's been a long time since I've really had to worry about pc or laptop as work have always provided lol.

I personally think it is great value, I'm no laptop expert by any means, but the top notch spec (good processor, 16gb ram, although single channel, lots of fast storage and a capable graphic card) is well worth it. Other lesser spec laptops are well more expensive.

At the moment I run dual screen one via hdmi and one via usbc plus adaptor as my work laptop has usbc too.

How easy would it be to run this laptop for two screens and what would it need.

Thanks

That's really useful as it does show usbc which would be ideal.

Has your order been confirmed just waiting on the long delivery date

Finally did you have to register for news letter first and they provide you with code.

Also any ideas how the student discount works this would be a feasible option too.

Yes my order was confirmed earlier today, six weeks wait is a bit annoying (esp given the fact I'm confined at home).
I tried using the unidays app but they took me to the lenovo education store and the best I could do was £785. Signing up to the newsletter took my £830 down to £747. However the code didn't actually work so online chat gave me 'telehappyspring10', so try that first.
Shocking that you have to wait for SIX WEEKS for it?? In this day and age that's totally unacceptable by any standards, I would of upgraded and ordered my wife one today had it not been for the ridiculous wait.

How long does it take to get the parts and build it up? Just a day or two..

Ordered mine today... Had email confirmation.... I searched high and low with my basic pc knowledge I couldn't find anything close to this with this spec for this kinda money. All priced over £1100 - £1400 so I'm very happy with the purchase.

Ps I spoke to the live chat team and got it reduced further to £723 plus they threw in premium warranty for a year that's another £20 saved.

Thanks for the help.

Nice, well done on the further reduction and premium warranty! It looks to be a great purchase!
what this like compared to dell xps 13 or Dell XPS 15. I know there a lot mroe expensive but are they alot better than this or not much better. Wondering if its worth digging a little deeper and getting the dell/s or if this is good enough. Main use will be basic business use, docker, vmware, programming/development
Anyone not getting the email? How long does it take?

When I ordered mine I thought the same... Took a little longer then expected.... Think mine was like 3 or 4 hours later. But all good.
I've been waiting since yesterday. Still no email with code.

I tried live chat. They told me a 10% discount couldn’t be applied to this laptop as it was already discounted through their ‘upgrade and save discount’. I’m going to try again tomorrow, hopefully different person different answer. I want that discount.
