Does he need any specific application to do his homework? Windows S mode is rather limited.

By the way, the screen resolution is 1366 x 768, which is poor.

You can remove the S mode easily

I would be wary of getting a Windows 10 laptop with only 32GB of storage, Windows update has downloading updates in the without leaving enough room to perform the update and ends up making the computer almost unusable.

Can you use the SD card to help with downloading updates?
only minus is its Windows S mode, which mean you only can install app from Windows store

This would be fine for that although the screen is a little small for doing homework etc. I'd spend £20 more and go for this one with bigger screen and storage hotukdeals.com/dea…819

That said, he's only 7 so if carrying it around is important this could be better. You'll need to do an update to ditch Windows 10 S and add some storage, at least temporarily, to do future Windows updates - in my experience sometimes this works well other times it doesn't.

He's 7 years old and his school sets all of his homework online?? Are you sure? It would be the only primary school I've heard of that does this

Theoretically, but the models I've dealt with have all refused to update from there.

Can I ask whether he has a desk he can work at? If so, maybe a desktop machine is more robust and less problematic? He'd also have a much better screen, a full copy of windows, etc. You can pick up a refurbished machine from Itzoo for under £70. You'd need a screen, but you may have one.
