Thank you for my Xmas present much appreciated!
Great price. I'll even excuse the resolution for £199, might get this for my daughter
Solid machine for general browsing, homework, a bit of Netflix, etc... Voted hot
How bad is windows 10 in S mode?
Voted hot. Before comments 'only 4GB RAM', this is more than acceptable considering the price and you can do more than basic things on it.
Bought, thank you.

Pretty sure you can just opt out of S to full W10 (but you cannot go back)

Heat
Does this come with Microsoft word
Important to note that Windows 10 S Mode will only allow MS Edge as your web browser and Edge won’t run Doddle, which is used by most schools for homework. You can switch out of S Mode, but that’s a one way switch and can’t be undone

Tragic. Fortunately it's simple enough to switch out of it(although, once done you can't switch back) When it first came out I'm sure I heard they were charging people for the escape

Most people will likely want rid. But for those who won't be doing anything besides browsing(and don't mind using Edge as their browser) it's best to leave it as is.
Is the ram upgradeable?

Ok, and if you switch out to full Windows 10, how will it likely cope with future updates?

It will update just as it would if it came pre-installed with full Windows.

128gb is enough then?

More secure for students and elderly, streamlined, helps with limited ram, widely underestimated

Plenty enough to install Windows and whatever other essential apps you may need.. ..but if you're planning on downloading loads of shit(hoarding media files etc) then you should obviously be willing to pay xtra for larger SSD. Or you could always buy a decent external hard drive(2TB for £50-60) to store your tons and tons of por.. I mean family albums etc..
Same price as Argos but limited stock now.

Thought this would be of interest, from laptoping.com:

'Intel Pentium Gold 5405U is a decent CPU for the day-to-day computing activities like web surf in multiple browser tabs, work on MS Office-type documents, and media playback. BUT TO ENSURE A COMPLETELY SMOOTH OPERATION DURING THESE ACTIVITIES, one should get a lower-mid-range or better processor, such as the current 8th Gen Intel Core i3 and i5 U series, or AMD Ryzen.'

(Capitals are mine; basically, this is barebones to run Windows, why some models come even more underpowered is beyond my understanding, recipe for customer frustration)

It's definitely improved massively from where it was. It's still difficult to get a big shift though, even if tests proved it's getting on top. People are creatures of habits..and with Chrome having such a firm grip on the online population..it's difficult to see a drastic switch. Maybe that's why Microsoft are coming up with S mode and the likes, so they can force - or semi-force as is the case now, people into getting used to their Edge
Hot deserved.
Coming up at £238.99 ATM
Quick question...sorry to button in, but I have a lenovo lap tops like this one...which I do have loads of cds stored on the windows media etc And it wants to update windows 10. I keep ignoring it for now. But would this be ok not to update ? Thanks in advance.
