Not 4k..... Cold

GPU can't handle Crysis on Ultra settings, Cold from me.
Guess it should be fast enough for basic use, but SSD and memory are on the small side and then there's

Nonsense. I have a Lenovo 320s, intel 7100u 4 GB RAM and full windows 10, runs effortlessly even with literally 20 chrome tabs open with videos etc. Never skips a beat.
By comparison I tried a new laptop recently with a 8150 CPU 4gb RAM and a normal HDD and it was about 1/10th the speed of my Lenovo.
A high spec CPU with a normal HDD will run like a turtle, but a basic 6th or new i3 even with 4gb RAM, as long as it has an SSD which this does is more than capable. It wont do 4k video editing but you should know that already

Very few laptops will be on sale without an SSD of some type these days. But i agree, i wouldn't buy one with a HDD.
I am pretty sure the 4gb ram is soldered but there is an additional slot to add more. And the SSD is upgradable too.

Honestly any i3 or i5 made in the last 3 or 4 years with at least 4gb RAM and an SSD of some kind will be perfectly fine for all but the most taxing tasks. The laptop in my deal has an ips screen I think

Nonsense.

Not quite sure to which "nonsense" you're referring? Guess its the 4GB memory being on the small side. It is on the small side but should be fast enough for basic use. What are your views on "Microsoft Windows 10 S" ? Serious question...

I think it's only really suitable for the elderly who could mess up and easily download a virus. But full windows 10 will run just fine on the specs I said in a previous post. You'll struggle to fill all 4gb of RAM unless you're trying to game on it

99% likely to be TN unless anybody can find a spec sheet with IPS on it.

That's what I reckon Musicrab. Once your stuck with a crappy TN screen, your stuck with it forever. (as I learned the hard way with my Asus FX503.)

Must admit I've never had an IPS screen... guess its one of those things you don't know you're missing until you've seen it?

You probably have, your phone or TV is pretty much certain to be IPS these days. The TN panel on my FX503 looks like it's walked straight out of 2006; it really is that poor.

As a replacement for the 330s range, you would expect some improvements.

No, they have gone backwards, cheap out and put low cost TN 220 nits display on their
new range. Even the lower specs 330s has IPS as standard.

Hooray, Lenovo.

You cant ask for it all. Expect to pay at the very least £120 more for a laptop with a half decent IPS. Remember, a poor quality IPS is worse than a high quality TN.

Don't encourage them, they just want your money and want to make them as cheap as possible.
This should be better than the previous version.

Also, they know, loads of people buy on-line without even seeing how bad these screens are and
only when they got em, oh that's bad, they must be all like that.

But for a student who just needs it for coursework, a TN is perfectly fine and the extra £'s for an IPS can be spent elsewhere.
People could live with sh*tty TNs only a few years ago... This is now the new 1366x768 bashing.

Agreed. A lot who have posted have Champagne taste with lemonade pockets. Sums up 90% of the HUKD community tbh .
Want an IPS? Get your wallet out.

Couldn't phrase it better myself. What will be next, bashing a flight deal cause Ryanair don't give em a recliner for £9.99?
fwiw, unlikely to have an IPS screen at this price for a 'brand new' launched range of new notebooks.
So far all s340 models advertised for sale in UK seem to only have TN screens. (Currys, Lenovo UK etc)

Previous generation Ideapd 330s were offered with either HD TN or FHD IPS screens.

Hi there,

For those with this laptop, please can you advise:

1) Is the screen DIM or bright?

2) Is the SD card slot flush (hides fully when inserted) or does it stick out?

Thank you
