Won't be a deal for everyone but seems like a pretty good gaming setup - a good i7 processor (an actual quad-core) and a GTX 960m card. It's actually a German product and is cheaper on amazon germany but they don't deliver the product to the UK. The downside is that it's got a German keyboard. However, I wanted a laptop with atleast a 960m card and couldn't find one cheaper (with a decent processor as well). Unfortunately doesn't come with an OS either.

Full Specs -

CPU: Intel Core i7-4720HQ, 4x 2.60GHz • RAM: 8GB DDR3 • HDD: 256GB SSD • optical drive: not available • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M, 4GB, HDMI • Display: 15.6", 1920x1080, non-glare • Connectors: 2x USB 3.0, 1x USB 2.0, Gb LAN • Wireless: WLAN 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0 • Card Readers: 4in1 (SD/MMC/SDXC/SDHC) • Webcam: 1.0 megapixels • Operating System: not available • Battery: Li-Ion, 4 cells • Weight: 2.40kg • Special features: keypad, illuminated keyboard • Warranty: two years

edit: as pointed by jono8, it's a refurbished laptop through Lenovo's own programme, although it's labelled as new - so probably is a new laptop?.

Condition: New.
Packaging: reThink box.

Why would you want to have a laptop with a German keyboard? Spec is good for the money. I assume you can change the keyboard? Any idea how much? Might be worth adding this to the post
Yeah it's a bummer regarding the keyboard, costs about 16 pounds on amazon amazon.co.uk/Gen…8DE. Otherwise, Keyboard stickers can be used. Not ideal at all, i know but it's saving a bit on similar spec-ed laptops.

Well its a decent saving. I used a German keyboard. Bought mine because is was cheaper too. Doesn't really make any difference. Y and z are switched etc. but really its no different. Keys are in the same place as in on UK keyboard just marked differently.
This seems cheap compared to what's on offer on the Lenovo website here

And if anyone's taking a trip to Germany - it's 899 euros on Amazon currently = £628!

Das is sehr gut
This is a very good price. However does it have a 860m or a 960m? as the description says "with options ranging up to NVIDIA® GTX-860M discrete graphics"

seems to be identical to this amazon one... amazon.de/Len…60m
which is a germany exclusive it seems, and it only comes in 960m. I receive it tommorrow so will update it here.
I am very tempted. Was hoping something of this spec might show up around the £500 mark but that might be wishful thinking.

Well... I ordered an Asus VN7 from amazon warehouse deals the day before yesterday. 485 in very good condition. Had an I5-4210 processor (dual core and much worse), but it had a 960m aswell. However, the Amazon courier (amazon logistics) lost it. But comparing the performance in the two cpu's i think this is actually the better deal as it's quadcore and has a ssd.

What about "£" sign ?
seems stupid to spend 600+ on a german laptop just my opinion
For the cost of replacing a keyboard - which will be a doddle great price IMO.

Is the german keyboard really that much of an issue? It has the same basic layout for A-Z but just has a few extra german characters on it : /

nothing gets close to this spec wise for £650 from what I can see.

I need the proper fully fledged and powerful quad cpu for DAW work so really want an I7 HQ of some description. The current crop of 'U' cpu's would be useless.

Ah right, I just wanted a decent graphics card and to be honest this is the best price I found. I couldn't find a cheaper 4720HQ based laptop.
Nice price, keyboard isn't a big deal and can be changed
I managed to get this spec

Direct from Lenovo for £708 on a special offer. Great machine and this one posted has better processor and graphics! One issue I have though. The keyboard can be awkward. Not great for typing essays on.

Technically, I think this is a refurbished machine as the deal says "reThink GOLD" which is Lenovo's official refurbishment programme. I previously bought a Y50-70 from this seller as part of the same reThink programme. That said, it was immaculate - not a mark or even a spec of dust on it, so the quality is very good - just like brand new.

Not cheaply - it's built into the top cover.

You change the region and keyboard in Windows to UK and then you put on some vinyl UK keyboard stickers for the key positions that are different. You're only really talking about a few symbol keys here or there. They keyboard stickers are about £1-2 from Ebay/Amazon. Works surprisingly well though you lose the backlit lettering on the particular key (the individual key surround is still backlit).

ebay.co.uk/itm…822?hash=item23561d247e:g:2BgAAOSwgQ9Vorw9

As for this particularly deal, it's definitely HOT, though the lack of a proper OS won't make it for everyone. You simply won't find a 960m / full fat i7 / 256gb SSD machine for this price. I'm not a fan of the Lenovo Accutype keyboards - spongey feel and not enough feedback - but if you're not doing tons of typing, it's not the end of the world. The Y50-70 also runs cool and quiet for a gaming machine and you have several options to set the CPU/power consumption profiles in Lenovo Energy Manager for battery life or performance together with battery wear conservation. It's actually a pretty useful utility.

I think it must be a refurb, but obviously a very good one.
Yep - here we go but it is essentially new as it is gold marked

Check some MSI LAPTOPS. MSI 70GP leopard bigger screen. 1tb hard drive (HDD) this i7 is worse than some of i5. Gaming laptop with 256 GB? Good luck mate.

Yeah $100 for the replacement cover, and then it's a bit of a mission to swap them because everything is screwed into the top cover and not the bottom.

Yeah, that keyboard is definitely incompatible as the Y50-70 keyboard is part of the upper casing. The specific part numbers are in the link below at pages 86-88 but it's just not worth the time and cost (unless you're already taking the machine apart for some other reason).

I'm waiting for the Dell Inspiron 15 7000 i7 6700HQ 16GB GTX 960M to drop down to £800 ish during black Friday/Cyber Monday. Arguably the best value for money Skylake i7 HQ laptop.

Vinyl keyboard stickers actually work fine. Cheap and easy to do. I have some on my (originally) Nordic keyboard turning it into a UK layout.
