Last date for Cash back for z580 is 16th sep.. So it is 679 you have to pay..

The Z series is Lenovo's "entertainment" series; but even though they fit a Blu-Ray player they don't have an option for a full HD screen. They fit an i7 processor and 8GB ram; but a hard disk that can't match even an i5 processor. The GPU is only a 630m so it's hardly a gaming system that 'requires' an i7 processor...

Lenovo are no different to the other major manufacturers. I guess it's a little like the Megapixel race on cameras; consumers look at HDD size, CPU speed and RAM so manufacturers invest the money there rather than providing a well balanced system.

You're right - I guess this deal was expired before it was even posted

i did ask them last night abut the cashbeck before it was expired

Hello,

Greetings from Amazon.co.uk.

This is a followup email regarding the conversation we had on Amazon.co.uk chat.

I understand you would like to know whether the "Lenovo Ideapad Z580 15.6-inch Laptop (Gunmetal)" comes with £100 cashback.

I've checked our website and see that the cashback offer for this item is no longer available with us.

In this case, I would request you to contact the manufacturer "Lenovo" to know more information about the cashback offer. They will assist you further.

I'm sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Anyone know what speed the RAM is? It would probably be easy to replace though right?

Also the HDD at 5,400 RPM seems very slow. So that would need to be replaced with a 256GB SSD for what I need I think too. Could the motherboard support the SSD at full speeds?

Guys this deal is back on. Lenovo have extended their offer till the end of September

See here lenovo-saving.com/en/…ing

Just purchased. Think this is a STONKING DEAL at £579.99 with cashback for an I7 8Gb 1Tb 2Gb Dedicated and Bluray

TTT

Expired as this is an old deal and will not be read.

Not old check the lenovo link: lenovo-saving.com/en/…ing
on for another half a month.

the processor gets impressive benchamarks

Dedicated graphics are pretty standard for a laptop (so below average desktop speeds, not for the gamers out there)

if you plan on using this for any kind of music production or something with long processing times the ivy bridge is worth it.

Just to reiterate, Summer Savings deal is still on as long as you are invoiced before the 30th of september, which knowing amazon, won't be a problem if you order in a morning or the evening before a working day.

I think it is better to avoid Lenovo cash back promotion. As mentioned by few users yesterday I too noticed the listing of this model in above promotional sites and ordered the laptop through Amazon... But today they have updated the site.. Now M81D2UK model is not listed there...

Have to cancel the order.. :-(

Had to cancel last night.

- No Gigabit Ethernet.
- Screen is a typical x768 (nothing special)
- No backlit keyboard (should be standard for a laptop this price).

Ideally like to go for a Lenovo as the build quality normally is better. Have my eyes on the IdeaPad Y580. Might have to wait a few more months before prices drop to 500-600.

Meanwhile I'll carry on searching for a decent i7. I've finally saved up enough cash lol.

There's a review of a Z580 i7 on pcadviser that specs a gigabit ethernet port

pcadvisor.co.uk/rev…ew/

One of the pdf files for the z580 on the Lenovo website also suggested that some models have gigabit ethernet. Hopefully the i7 models do.

Mine is being delivered thurs/fri so I will try and post my findings when I have had chance to play!

I can see the Z580 listed there but it says selected models. I gather there are i3 and i5 models around also. Does the cashback definitely come with amazon's i7 model do you know?

cheers - b

Thanks! Please do as I will reorder in that case. I've done a bit of searching I can't find any mention of a gigabit port. My 4 year old Acer 5336 has a Gigabit port.

Lets hope some models also have a backlit keyboard :P

Click on the 'Products' link next to the Z580 offer and a box should pop up listing this model (M81D2UK) as eligible for cashback.

thanks rogdog!

Just got mine delivered today.

First thoughts are there are issues with it. The buttons on the touch pad feel a little mushy. They are built into the touch pad which makes it difficult for me as I normally have a finger on the left click, but this prevents the mouse moving properly in my opinion . The screen is actually pretty good, however the gloss around the edges gather dust very fast.

Other than that the build is very good, keyboard is great to use and easy to type. Although I do miss the back lit keyboard on my Dell...

Oh and it only has 10/100mb Lan

If it wasn't for the issues with the touch pad I would probably keep it, but I'm now thinking I actually want separate buttons as opposed to built in, 1gb LAN, Full HD screen and a back lit keyboard...

Think I might keep a lookout for a Dell Outlet deal on xps 15...

PS... If anyone else also had a very non-sensitive touch pad to start off with un-install the driver and delete, then re-install the latest driver from the synaptics website

Show me a Laptop under £700 with an i7 cpu and dedicated graphics card with a 1080p display.

I bought this at £750 but I also got the £100 cashback.

Great laptop, no regrets seeing as I need the portability of a laptop while I'm still in education and it's nice having something that can competently play games whilst still being affordable.

It was cheaper than this with Save On Laptops recently, we bought three for work. I got the i5 version for £420 - same specs otherwise

It's great price after cash back

Have this laptop at home, bought it for the wife a couple of months back. Excellent laptop, lightning fast (and fast start and shutdown), although I'd have preferred a 7200 HDD. For those that whinge about the display not being 1080p, unless you are about 2cm from the screen, who cares. Plug it into a tv/monitor and watch in 1080p then if you are that bothered.

Yes it does. The model is the M81D2UK, and you definitely get £100 cashback on it. There is another i7 model without Blu Ray, but you don't get £100 back on that.

Wish it had the GT 650M rather than the GT 630M but a Hot Deal none the less...

Would be nicer without the £100 refynd byt a HD screen and backlit KB. The Dell XPS were selling for below £700, but they have stopped now. Dell outlet isnt brand new.

I think the price on saveonlaptops already included the £100 cashback...so I very much doubt it was cheaper. Apart from Lenovo Affinity (£579.99 with no cashback included), this is the cheapest I've ever seen it.

I have last years model of this the Z570 with i7 and Bluray.

Got it in December from Amazon for ~£690

Built quality is excellent. The gunmetal is a godsend, The screen is naff but that was to be expected. Gathers dust like no tomorrow. Literally within a day or so, It needs another wipe.

The touchpad is my biggest bug bear with this machine tough, I had to tick the option not to use the multi touch features as it kept wanting to rezise windows alot of the time.

I have the 540m in mine and plays games very well! I output to my HD tv in 720p at medium to high settings in most games, Arkham City, Borderlands, Portal 2 etc at around 50 frames per second.

Overall, I would buy this machine if I had not upgraded last year! Soon after getting it I switched out the HD for a 256GB Samsung SSD and now boots up in ~20 seconds compared to well over 1 min before!

HEAT ADDED!

You can probably swap the screen (may invalidate warranty), refurb 15.6" 1920x1080 screens are available for under £100. Not sure if it works out cost effective against buying a similar machine already equipped with a 1080 screen. But since I've done it in the past with laptops, thought I'd let others know.

Amazon is showing price as £747.62 now, why does i find it much less at laptopsdirect.co.uk/Len…asp
?????

I can't believe that laptop manufacturers STILL have not even risen up to 1920x1080 as "standard", never mind their failing to emulate a cheapo "Apple Retina" display...
