sorted byDepends on how close you are to the screen, 24-27 inch 1440p monitors have lower PPI than this as do 3440x1440 34 inch ultrawide monitors, it will be fine for the majority of people.
Impossible to tell unless you put your head four inches away
Yes, but not all games do.
1080p on a 17" screen will look horrible Imo. But many people seem not to care. Colour accuracy is not bad, and I assume brightness is just average.
Among the best thermals in the industry. I would want the 5 pro over this, though. That hardware is wasted on a 1080p screen imo
Like all gaming laptops the fans do get loud although if you are wearing a headset only the people around you will care. As for the screen its very clear and colour accurate also 165hz. The 15" version can be had for the same price from other retailers but you get a 5 year warranty at costco.
2 year*
From what I tested so far it outperforms an Nvidia 3060 desktop graphics card which has a TDP of around 170W if I remember correctly.
As an example it runs Assassins Creed Valhalla at 1080p ultra setting around 80 FPS which I find it great.
At this price it is one of the best gaming laptops to be had. Temps are very good as well especially if used with a laptop cooling pad.
Very happy with the purchase
Reason for edit typo. (edited)
Without DLSS or compromising on quality settings, the mobile 3070 will definitely struggle at 4k resolution - QHD is a good match imo.
I have the Legion 5 3060, and some games are fine of course at 4k60, but most modern games struggle as you'd expect! I've just picked up an insanely large 1440p monitor knowing it'll be a downgrade from my 4k for productivity space, but will be better for the smoother refresh rate, which is harder to go back to 60 for me than dropping resolution!
Do you have some sort of scaling in Windows at 4k on that size?
Agree, it will be fine for majority of people. Personally, I think 1080p is not good enough on any screen size, having used 3k+ laptops, tablets and monitors for the last few years. Doesn't need to be debated really. Some people don't care and some people do. That's it.
I believe my scaling in Windows is 100% but it is a 60Hz 4k stone age display. I am just about to upgrade my machine, might go for a RTX3060 QHD 165Hz on 15.6"
The brightness is good on these unlike the 120hz version which is shocking! Also 1080p is fine on a 17" screen, good thing is with these you have an optionto output at a higher res over HDMI to your desired screen.
They changed the warranty from 5 to 2 now grrr. Mind it's still better than the standard although you can buy a warranty cheap from lenovo.
Does this not have DLSS?
Think it is only 2 year for laptops...... Maybe wrong
Nice.... Shame it's not 1TB (edited)
I’ve got the 16, same specs. Fan is loud but so are all great performing laptops, just that this isn’t as loud as competition and stated above best thermals.
Great performing laptop graphically. I’m hitting 80-165fps on modern games with no issue on my 34 WQHD.
The cpu on mine however is running real hot, 97c to be precise, need to send it in for repair.
I’ve upgraded mine with 64GB Kingston Fury RAM (as mine came with single rank RAMs) and 2TB 970 Evo Plus SSD. (edited)
what can you achieve with that much resolution? It's a overkill. On screen this size you won't notice much difference.
Just reviewed the setting again, I am on 250% scale at 3840 x 2160 on 15.6 (286ppi). Tried to downgrade the resolution to 1080p, it is too blur. I know there is a difference on native 1080p panel and 4k panel set at 1080p, once get used to have sharp words I can't go back. That's it. At that price, if I am a pure gamer then I will go for it but I spend most of time on internet and documents. Anyone had it should be happy with the gaming. Also recently the RTX cards price pull back a lot, may consider get a PC so that I can choose the desire monitor for myself.
