Both in practicality and performance. If you're 'gaming' you need a mouse by which point you're on a desk anyways. This laptop will be sub 100 fps average(closer to the 50-75fps mark) on nearly all new AAA which is not considered great at 1080p. though I do celebrate that finally 144hz monitors becoming the norm on laptops! Unfortunately, this monitor is a blurry mess with input lag that means you and your game are effectively in different time zones. To get what is considered a 'good gaming experience' on a laptop you still need to spend north of 2k. It's more like £550(£700 with a fancy monitor+mouse and keyboard) on a pc.Being able to take a laptop anywhere is amazing. Please don't sell them to people with the impression they'll be getting a smooth gaming experience. it's important not to oversell these to people.

Ok no idea what you are expecting but this will play games perfectly fine. You do not need to spend North of £2k to get a decent experience no idea why you think that. Not everyone needs or wants over 100fps in every game. Tbh your advice is misleading and of little use to most people.

This laptop is a great machine and will do very well playing even the latest games.

Intel for games, AMD for work, simples! Intels are 6/12 these days anyhooooo?Bigger Q is whether the 2060 is worth it over the 1660ti? Depending on the Wattage allowance for the 2060, that is?

Someone can’t build his own.

Here, ask your maw for your old blocks and practice putting the right shape in the correct hole. Once you master that you can build a PC.

Don’t forget to tell your maw though, you might get a nice wee rusk as a treat.

Maybe because most games don't benefit from more that 8GB (especially if that 8GB is in dual channel)...
Most are 16 GB. I think that’s a vital concept.

I believe it’s the 2020 refresh 115W 2060, but that’s only from other posters on other threads for the variants of this laptop, I don’t have a primary source myself.
Topcashback doing £40 back on laptops over £399 as well.
With the 4800H and 2060 this will be a great laptop!
The 4800H makes it superb for non gaming tasks. Which reviews do cover. Intel do not come close.

The Legion 5P cools very well making it superb at gaming and heavy tasks. Has excellent battery life in this model by Currys. The RAM, drive and Wi-Fi are oddly specced but are all Fully upgradeable. 2 Nvme SSD’s can be used. 30 min charge= half battery.

So yeah it’s an excellent laptop. Given stock shortages and choice due to Covid. This is a no brainier choice for many looking at larger heavy duty laptops that perform well and stay cool. Lighter options are the HP Omen 15 in this category.
Thanks everyone. Just bought it. Best possible performance in this price range.

Does anyone know whether this laptop supports 40gb/64gb RAM. I would like to install a single 32gb 3200MHZ sodimm in the available slot. Thanks.

Their choice of specs play into exactly what I said. 144hz monitor but will only reach 50-75fps average in most new multiplayer AAA games. Explain the logic sir... I'll tell you the logic, the standard now days is 144hz 1080p. Its about to go up with the new consoles and gpus. They've put a low quality version of that display in in order to look as though it's at the standard. It's not.

No one is expecting the same performance as pc. But this laptop does not represent a good value for money gaming experience.

You don’t need to always run at 144fps just because it’s a 144Hz screen. What it allows is to be able to run with an unlocked frame rate which means less tearing. The screen used in this is actually fairly decent and as good if not better as other machines at this price point. Your argument is strange even top end system would struggle to remain at 144fps all the time even at 1080p. 144Hz does not mean you have to have a constant 144fps......
A 2060 with a 2700x, m.2 ssd and 16gb of ram would easily get 100+ average frames at a cost of £6-650. The argument is laptops aren't there yet in terms of value for money for gaming.

What's wrong with the WiFi?
The WiFi in the laptop I received is indeed AX 200 WiFi 6 even though Currys website states that it is AC.

Is this better than the Asus Ryzen 5
Received it in less than 24 hours from Currys. It is definitely faster than Ryzen 5 according to the benchmarks I have seen. It is very understated and doesn't look like a gaming laptop at all. This model does not have webcam or rgb lighting. It is very quiet during regular usage and the build quality is good. It has Samsung PM981A SSD. The legion logo on the lid lights up.

Metal or plastic chassis?

Oh and don't suppose you use emulators?
Currently 10% cashback at Topcashback and Quidco on selected AMD laptops which includes this model. I also got 7% equivalent discount through my employee benefits scheme so worth checking if you're in a similar scheme too. Together that brings it to around £830.

The 7% discount, you have to buy like a gift card to the amount of the product you want to buy right? Then if you wanted to refund, they give you the gift card value back?

What I did was to pay £800 of the total as the gift cards bought via the employee scheme and then the remaining £199 I put on my credit card so it's all covered under section 75 and if anything goes wrong there's the option of fully charging back through the credit card company.

yeah for me they are perfect because I move back and forth a lot, but for anyone just using it at home, damn get a desktop - a 2060 desktop card will destroy laptops.

Yes. The battery life is very good. It lasted 6+ hours yesterday. Mostly 8K, 4K youtube videos and browsing in quiet mode.
