Really good deal for this laptop. Early Black Friday deal from Very.

Would recommend upgrading this laptop to 16GB RAM with another 8GB stick to further improve performance.

Decent deal, unfortunately I'm looking for an i7, otherwise might have grabbed it

Why do you need the i7? For the extra cores? Dell G3 had an option with i7-9750H and 1650 graphics for about this price fairly recently.

few reviewers said the i5 bottlenecks a 1660ti

I read the opposite: the i5-9300H is fast (with that 4.1Ghz Turbo) and games are optimised for quad-core mostly - even if the 1660 Ti is bottlenecked it won't be by much, and it's always the CPU or GPU that will be the hold-up really, so one of these is going to be limiting the system. But yes, if you can wait, the Black Friday will be the ideal time to buy.

Yeah that was always my suspicion but a couple of reviewers I saw ran tests and it seemed the i7 made a difference. I'll have to do a bit more research. Until I die without a gaming laptop lol.
Deal still at £899
I bit and ordered one. Been looking for a gaming laptop for a few days and had my eye on a couple. The MSI deals looked the best but decided on this one after reading reviews. Worth the extra bit of money for better screen and graphics card. Heat

Nah pretty sure it was the r5 3550 that bottlenecked the 1660ti... As far as I'm aware none of the 8+9 i5's will struggle to keep the 1660ti happy
