Good deal for this particular model. It's only real problems are the 2gb ram and the fact it has a somewhat huge screen bezel (and the screen quality is pretty poor), however for the price..its a steal.

It was that price on Prime Day I think and is usually £130 on amazon, so £99 is pretty good You can also get this on the prime now app if you want it in an hour....

Have some heat.

Chromebooks are looking quite appealing these days. This one looks to be lined up to get Android app support as well:

http://www.androidcentral.com/these-are-chromebooks-can-run-android-apps

I'm personally holding out for an Intel based, 4gb, touchscreen, Full HD device at a good price though.

I nearly bought one on Prime day, but couldn't quite convince myself.

Ordered on prime day ... Brilliant for browsing battery lasts forever

yes you can

Any idea when they're bringing the N42 to the UK?

This was posted around 4 weeks ago for the same price from the same retailer and went very cold. Personally I think it's a great price, must be a different crowd out today X)

Nice chromebook, but why does it not have Full HD? In much smaller tablets that is becoming standard, but for some reason "laptops" still have huge pixel.

it went cold because it was for prime members only on prime day, the down voters were out on droves.

Could not resist can you install google play on this i know chrome books allow it now but not sure if its mainstream yet?

Bought this yesterday for 125, will Amazon reduce the price for me?

They will just arrange a callback and explain you'd be forced to return it. Amazon are pretty good about these things.

Which type of RAM does it have and can it be upgraded. A friend of mine likes Chromebooks and said he's ready to order a new one. I have a few sticks of laptop RAM at home, which would make this worthwhile. Come to think of it, I've also an i5 CPU but I don't remember which. Can the CPU be upgraded or is it integrated?

CPU on this is BGA - Ball Grid Array, i.e. it's soldered on. No upgrade capability there
Can't find any info about the RAM yet

sites.google.com/a/c…d=1 here you will find this will support android apps any time now.

I too would be interested if the ram can be upgraded as they do a 4gb version too any info on this would be appreciated.

Is this the Touch screen version?apparently there is a N22 touch as well.

What is the quality like ?

I bought one of these and it's fantastic as a second computer. I've got a touchscreen android laptop and a Chromebook Pixel 2013 and really not bothered about the touchscreen. You end up cleaning it all the time so i actively avoid using it! These are designed for the education market so tough, waterproofing on keyboard etc. The screen isn't great for media consumption but I'll take Matte for work and web any day!

This guide has a filter to discover Chromebooks that have upgradeable SSD, touch screen and androidability.

Think they've started being a pain about such things, but order again and return the other one if they won't

I think this is to do with the type of use each device gets.

People like to watch movies and video content on tablets - nearly all of which is 1080p or 4k.
People like to create documents etc. on laptops, and that doesn't really require a high pixel density.

In this instance, I'd rather a 720p screen and longer battery life.

Great device for mobdro when google activates playstore and kodi.

Benefits of this Chromebook:

Long battery life.
32GB of storage - play store apps will only be able to be installed on local storage, so larger storage is great.
Zippy - not noticed any lag even with 2GB of ram.
Installed Crouton no problem and its great.
Rugged design, waterproof keyboard.

Cant go wrong with this for £99

Exscuse my ignorance in these matters, but does it have an sd card reader. Thanks.

Yes a full size sd card reader.

Can you use external HDD's with Chromebooks?

My laptop is on its way out after about 8 years, can somebody explain the difference between a laptop and a chromebook in 140 characters or less please?
I pretty much only use my laptop for internets and ripping cds for my mp3 player, I assume this can do that?

Think of Chromebooks as a web browser and soon to get google play app store support soon its main aim is to browse anything to do with google. Its main purpose serves as web browsing .You cant rip dvd cds t does have sd card reader the os is the chrome web browser hidden under linux.

A Chromebook is a laptop of a different breed. Instead of Windows 10 or Mac OS X, Chromebooks run Google's Chrome OS. These machines are designed to be used primarily while connected to the Internet, with most applications and documents living in the cloud

yes but only annoying thing is that half the card sticks out!

Need to replace my C720.. wanted something with 4GB ram though.

How is the CPU in this one for people that have one?

You can install mobdro right now using arc welder.

I got this last time it was at this price and it's a steal. However, I have since got a ASUS Chromebook Flip and have been using that a lot more. The Chromebook Flip looks and feels like a premium device (like a tiny macbook) and it also runs Android apps.

Was thinking of getting a chromebook but have read that setting up a printer is a nightmare.

Got this for £99 on Prime Day, couldn't be happier tbh. Battery lasts forever, good wifi signal, nippy and rugged.

Chrome book flip is 2.5 times this.

For 2.5 times the flip you can get a proper mac air....
