Minus band 20 according to spec. Better to pay extra should 3 get more stock (as they have B20) or pay less for RN4 (unless you need NFC).

can you explain in idiot terms what this means, I've been checking 3 stock for weeks now with no luck.
Sure it's in stock mate? I found this myself but when I change colours and go back both are out of stock

3 unwilling to sell me one unless I take contract out with them

There is problem with website for some reason, if you use their app it works. 100 gold and 98 grey left.

P2 is sold in the UK by 3, you linked that phone info. OP phone spec does not list B20, a foolish omission? Would suggest it is not a mistake though feel free to take the chance.
RN4 comes with and without B20, no reason to think the P2 is any different. I don't need B20 though I'd hate to recommend people buy without knowing what they are buying.

Quite right: I have been digging with Three and the official line has now changed to discontinued. I guess YMMV depending on who you speak to...

My bad ! From my understanding p2a42 model (model sold by gearbest) does support B20 , I must be wrong .
GearBest shows the right model number but the specs don't show band 20. Too risky to take a chance

Quite possibly not.
on live chat now to Gearbest, they are checking now.

They just copied and pasted the description which doesn't say B20.
So it is a B20 then
They have just confirmed it DOES NOT have B20 and the model is P2c72. I think this is the one without B20
Damn, so they have wrong model in the title. Sorry all !

Hardly your fault.
Any opinions on whether this as good as the moto G5 plus? I'm currently hoping for a price drop on the G5 which is currently on the £200 price point. The specs on this P2 seems on par with the G5 plus on paper...
When I go to three.. pay as you go the option is there at £199.99 At top when you look at the different options for contracts.

Just click choose plan on link below.. £200 option is first, just add to basket

three.co.uk/len…hly
...also with the band 20 question, does it follow that if you are with EE or MVNO's such as virgin mobile or Tesco mobile who provide their 4G services under mixed frequencies such as Band 3 or 7, that you might benefit with this particular handset?
To point out also with Three

Totalcashback is £15.75 on PAYG

topcashback.co.uk/thr…es/

IMO someone should set up a page for this at three and TCB

It's better than the G5 Plus. But if you're going to surrender after-sales support you may as well go all out, save even more money, and get a Xiaomi. Or pay the extra for a G5 with a warranty and better updates.

The P2 is an anomaly tbh, it was a ridiculous blip at the UK price and it's not really fair to compare others to it.

There's a Moto E5 (I think?) that has a lot to offer for the money too, it's very much less premium but has the same enormous battery if that's what you're chasing.

Sorry, missed this. Xiaomi Redmi note 4 is very similar spec though missing NFC (Android pay) compared to the P2. It effectively has no warranty (like the OP phone) though is circa £115(minus cashback).
Any questions?
Thanks for the input...

I was leaning more towards the Three route rather than the Gearbest... it's a significant amount to spend so after sales support is essential. They both seem to be at £199 offerings on average but the P2 seems to be scarce to source.

P2 is anomaly made me chuckle but i think i get what you mean....

Can't seem to find the specs for the MOTO E5, or was that a misprint perhaps?. Not particularly chasing the battery, but rather a well rounded budget phone to last with the usual bells and whistles (Snapdragon 625 or equivalent as minimum, 3G ram,1080p screen, decent camera and battery) at under the £200 price point.

Vodafone Smart V8 may be worth a look (2 year warranty) at £159 plus top up.
Thank you for the suggestion...
Ticks the boxes apart from the processor.
Appreciated.

My mistake, sd435. Sd625 is rare on UK supplied phones atm. Is warranty worth £70ish to you?

Oops, the Moto E is one number behind the Moto G. But it's not suitable based on your explanation.

Depending on your urgency, I'd wait for an offer on the Moto G5 Plus. It's already been down to £200, is an amazing phone and is equally good value at that price. It covers every base except possibly the processor, not sure, but other aspects like the camera are way ahead so that it evens out. And you'll get 2 years of updates, unlike most, if not any, others. The Vodafone and Xiaomi and so will get none.

If I didn't already have a P2 that would be my choice, no hesitation. If it weren't for the battery size I'd swap for it tbh. I've had offers on the P2 way higher than what I paid. Like I said... anomaly.

Thats me done waiting then. Will go for the Redmi Note 4. Would have liked this intead but doesnt look like going to be back in stock unless 3 change their minds.
Are 3 losing money on these and thats why they dont stock them? Massive niche with that battery they have.
I won't be letting my P2 go anytime soon, it is addictive having that battery life. Of course I will get another phone to play with soon!

I went into store to buy a p2 a week or so ago, got told its been discontinued as Lenovo will be releasing something new soon.

Came home and done some searching to find Lenovo have a release event end of August and that there are rumours of there being a P3 announcement. However discontinuation of the P2 before the P3 comes out seems extremely odd and something even the big brands like apple and samsung dont do.

For a large battery though, the P3 may be worth the wait.
CSmobiles are selling the P2 for £240. It's the p2a42 version and supports band 20 (confirmed by email), is the European version and comes with 2 years manufacturers warranty.

Yes the P2C72 version will work with EE on 4G.

EE uses bands 20, 3 and 38 I think for 4G, the Lenovo P2 P2C72 only supports bands 3 and 38 so you will get coverage but not fully.
