Brilliant phone. I do miss the insanely good battery life it comes with but I had to upgrade to a Samsung S7 Edge
God bloody blimey!!

"Massive 5100mAh battery so no need to worry about battery life!"
Lenovo seem to (anecdotally) make better phones for themselves than they do for Motorola
I’ve heard these phones have issues, and that it’s no longer going to receive updates. 🤔

In all fairness, they may perhaps be an otherwise legitimate (be it hidden/not so obvious) reason for that?.

As in, I doubt/don't solely believe that that sort of thing is solely Lenovo's fault ... (I'm not sure of the actual 'count' of how many owner's Motorola has had? - besides itself, but I'm at least familiar with a few).

Eg.

Lenovo only came into owning Motorola like just 5 minutes ago? (but yet Motorola phones were still out there?).

Prior to Lenovo ownership, Google owned them too (but yet Motorola phones were still out there?).

And again, prior to Google ownership, Motorola owned their own phone's too right? (and again, Motorola phones were still out there?).

Alllllll above made Motorola phone's, when they owned the 'Brand' too ...

But alllllll too (with the obvious exception of Motorola themselves), had a keen interest in pushing out their own Branded Flagships AHEAD of that of any 'Third-Parties' I'd have thought? (even if one of those same said 'Third-Parties' was ironically now one of their own, etc?).

That unfortunately, is the real reality of how this sort of jungle works ...

Interesting comment that.

As I've formally heard similar said of some Motorola phone's in the past too?.

So kinda depends on your angle too I reckon?, lol.

Though it is pre-installed with Android 6, out the box.

I have a Lenovo P2 I bought from the Three Shop last year (it comes as unlocked, as standard).

And this phone flies! - though given, there are 1 or 2 not so 100% bits and bobs there, but for what this phone is, I can barely fault it). :-)

I have a P2 , and haven't had any problems at all, owned it since last April, what issues are you referring to ?
I bought this phone from appliances direct last year for a similar price. The battery life is as good as everyone says- I've had over 3 days on average being a moderate user. The only issue I have experienced is that the finger print scanner doesn't work. This is because it isn't in the menus to select as part of the security settings- -apparently this is something to do with the operating system. Not an issue for me, but some may be put off by this.

the other thing to mention is that the camera isn't the best- a lot of photos come out blurry etc.

Same here. It's the one thing I miss now I've got a ZTE Axon 7. I wish they'd release a P3, with improved specs, but still great battery life.
£177.54 by the time they've bumped up the price to include delivery and PayPal/cc charges.

Hehehehehe, funny you say that.

A P3 is actually anticipated over the horizon at some point?, so ...

As for what spec's it may/may not have at the time or whatever, who knows?, lol.

But either way, watch that space ... :-)

I'd have thought allllll that aspect of thing's would be free? (for such a significant purchase?).

But, I could be wrong?.

Works fine on mine, menu setting is under security.....

I mean I don't think I could ever go back to a normal sized battery now.

Looking at my remaining power at 8pm and seeing between 40 and 75% *never* gets old.

And I'm a pretty heavy user.

It's made by Motorola - read the sticker on the back when you first get it "Manufactured by Motorola Mobility ltd".

Something wrong there - both my wife and I have the P2 - fingerprint reader works fine and is selectable in menus.

I have a P2, the fingerprint sensor is excellent. Must be your phone???
I have had one for a while and can't look at phones now with 3000mAh batteries as I know it won't last the day.
As many have said camera is not the best but I have a dslr for photos so not a big issue.

The only issue I have is it can go into a deep sleep meaning some messages/emails don't come through until you turn the screen on.

Also my phone has never had a update, it is still on 6.0.1! I bought it unlocked from 3, should It have received a update?

So, maybe going for a refurb increases your chances of getting a phone with these sort of minor problems then.

In former days, used to be known as a Friday car - the one that the factory knocked out in a hurry before the factory shut for the weekend - always the one with the troubles compared to the same car built during the week ;-)
Have to recommend this phone, amazing battery, does everything you need it to. Decent processor and 4g ram. Screen decent. Camera not the best but improved by third party Canara app. Like others not sure l could go back to a phone that requires charging daily

I'm still struck on android 6 on mine

Does everything work well on 8? Including the banking apps, fingerprint scanner? Any negatives? Thanks

No update from 3, you can manually update to 7.0. It is very straightforward. Google is your friend.
I've owned it since uk launch from 3 (came unlocked) - I use it only lightly - couple of calls a week & game during lunch hours. NFC Wifi & bluetooth on at all time. I charge it only once per week & it generally has over a quarter left by the end.

Just looked at settings - says it is running 6.0.1 & that software is up to date. (It has received several OTA updates - last one quite recently to do with google assistant). I suspect you will have to flash it yourself if you want later version - since it has worked flawlessly since day 1, I don't feel the need to.

Fingerprint unlocking works perfectly for me.
How easy or difficult is to update please?

You are correct, stuck on A7. Maybe the firmware buddies have ASOP'd the firmware now tho.
Plenty info already on here. I love my 64GB version, but the SD card slot on both my P2 busted right after inserting two Sims so maybe that is one of the negs.
Would buy again in a heartbeat cos battery is just awesome.
Noticed phone was warmer than usual in pocket yesterday and battery at 48%, think it was avpnapp in background using some CPU even tho VPN was not enabled.
It's when you switch the wee hardware switch to battery saver that makes this phone last days and days on the same charge, and then switch it back to normal if you want to do something, that's what I do anyway.
33002848.jpgOf course, if the battery happens to blow up with phone in pocket, it's bye bye leg with a battery that size

This one doesn't look half bad either, no amoled screen but is cheaper too and has an even bigger battery to blow all the meat and two veg off

Good for transgender then?
Been after one of these for a while now, but have also been looking at the xiaomi redmi note 4... Anyone got any real world evidence about both these phones. Many thanks.
Own one of these. Best phone I'll ever have... Awesome battery and slapped in a 128gb card so 160gb total storage and crammed with music, downloaded films for the kids, etc. Not sure why I'd ever want or need to upgrade... On Three PAYG, only costs me £40 a year to run as most data usage on home WiFi anyway. Anyone struggling with their finances and yet still paying £20+ per month for a phone needs to have a serious word with themselves...
You would think more phone companies might realise people really like practical phones and are willing to trade off a bit of weight and bulk for killer battery life.

If I manufactured phones I would build the company on devices that trounce all others for battery life. Going 3 days without charging should be a basic function, it used to be the case 15 years ago now it's barely even considered. Bizarre.
This bad boy is the dogs *******, had it for over 1 year, great screen and fantastic battery life, my advice snap it up.

Are you using this phone with any stuff installed from work? My employer requires device administrator access for the email setup and one of the security requirements is that fingerprint scanner is disabled - PIN or password only.
My wife has the xiaomi redmi note 4, I have this bad boy, no comparison, the P2 wipes it out in every area.
I cannot fathom out why Lenovo ceased production.
I also have the P2, which I've been using for over 6 months. Great screen, it's swift and as a moderate to heavy user connected to 4G or WiFi throughout the day the battery was the selling point for me. Running with an SD card to expand the memory, only issue I have now and then is the camera app Open Camera cannot save photos. Workaround I've found is to eject the card tray, reinsert and it's fine again. Fingerprint scanner works every time, no other issues. Bought unlocked from Three and I'm using it on Vodafone network.

Hi, no I only use the P2 as my personal phone. I use it PIN protected due to the fingerprint issue, so would have thought this would be suitable for the application you're thinking of
Another recommendation for this phone... I'm a heavy user (3hrs satnav/Spotify per day) and the battery lasts me 2 days. I'm still in android 6... Not felt the need to update. Fingerprint works perfectly. Camera isn't perfect but you can still get great results if you know what you're doing
Same price on Laptops Direct but with free delivery and 2% quidco. Looks like the same company.
How is the quality of speaker phone ?

This would be a perfect phone if it has decent camera

dont know why its hard for manufacture to put such battery in flagship phones because all phones with huge battery are low end or mid-range smart phones with average camera whther we talk about e4 plus, moto c plus , p2, Xiamo note series
