No Band 20
Bargain if you can do without band 20
Great price paid 170 last week, no band 20 not been an issue for me as on EE and it updated to nougat as part of the setup. The rapid charge plug supplied will be the 2 pin ones used in Asia and gearbest supply a 3 pin adapter, but not been brave enough to use that yet so been charging on existing chargers but once charge battery goes to down to 30% after 2 days use and thats with watching video, frequent WhatsApp use and web browsing.
Bargain! I've recently returned an S8+ and gone back to the Lenovo P2. I guess I'm not ready to use a phone which I have to charge up to twice a day!
I bought mine from Three for £199, but they are out of stock. Is it safe to buy from gearbest? What if something went wrong? How does the warranty cover you?

Also how have you guys managed to update to nougat? I've checked over and over again for OTA firmware update, but nothing as yet.

Mine picked up the OTA update, but if it doesn't, you should be able to to do it via settings>about phone>software update, I had to update a few small updates, then it did the biggy and updated to 7, which was just shy of 2GB

Claiming warranty from china seller will be an issue.. so basically i would just buy thinking no warranty lol ..mine received nougat through ota straightaway after i setup the fone.

On p2 from 3 .. u have to manually flash stock nougat firmware i think
Thanks mrtim. Unfortunately I've found I can't go for it because it's not got Band 20, which I require for 4g signal. I wish I could get such a version.
Is this better than the Xiaomi Note 4? Also, could anyone recommend a case/screen protector for this phone? Thanks.

I did a quick check last night and found this comparison, which I hope you'll find useful

I considered this when buying a new phone but came to the decision that the Note 4 was better. This phone is probably much better if you do a lot of battery-intensive but fairly memory-light things (like watching internet browsing, videos, high-accuracy services etc), as the reviews I read generally praised the battery and relatively low-level operation, but weren't keen on it for intensive use (things like gaming).

Despite the same RAM, the Note is a more powerful phone. But this has a ridiculously good battery. If that is a key for you, this is probably a better phone.

Here's an indepth comparison of the specs: kimovil.com/en/…bal
Worth noting that Plusnet (5gb data for £10 a month) works without Band-20, so if you're concerned that your current provider won't work with this phone, you can always move there.
What network do plusnet piggyback off? Also how many minutes do you get with the £10pm?
I got this for £200 from Three, brilliant phone. Well built, does everything I need flawlessly and the battery is incredbile, makes such a difference knowing I can use the phone intensely and not worry about losing power.

PlusNet & BT both use the EE network
Thanks midlothian. Being honest, EE is rubbish... Not for me
My dad ordered this with DHL delivery, cost £26 import tax.

This is also my dilemma, both look pretty similar but can anyone comment on the P2 camera?

Lesson learned. Never use DHL on such orders. To be honest, the free delivery service seems to have got much quicker since I started ordering from china a couple of years ago. The Redmi Note 4 I ordered for my DIL got here in 9 days. And no extra charges...

Really, is the S8 that bad? Good to know as I was considering an upgrade. I've heard about the legendary battery life of the P2.

On SOME networks

Used to be true but band 20 it's actually used by ALL networks to provide 4G. As it travels furthest and is more capable at going through walls, it is most useful in rural areas and heavily built up areas. EE and Three didn't initially use band 20 and so you will tend to get reasonable 4G coverage on their networks without it. Many (most) people don't do things which cause them to need 4G over 3G and so falling back to 3G isn't always an issue.
whats band 20? europe?

It is. I record GPX tracks on my cycle rides which keeps the P2 active. No problem with 12 hour rides. Whereas my Nexus 5X struggled with half that even with a Anker power pack attached!

Oh and I get much cleaner GPX tracks too. The skin is a step down from the 'pure' Nexus/Android but slapping a third party launcher sorted that. If only Three would OTA Nougat - that's my only gripe. Well and the camera which is pretty naff after the gorgeous 5X.

I suppose I ought to update manually. Trouble is if I brick it there is no easy replacement. I don't do Gearbest for the obvious reasons.

Seems excellent to me, sound on video very good too.

I have no doubt you may find better on iPhones high end Samsung but they're not under £200

Yes
Absolute amazing phone the battery is just beyond phenomenal and the phone itself has never crashed in the 4 months or so that I've owned it. The best phone I've owned to date definitely recommend it.
Is this a better phone then the elephone P8? The telephone is in the flash sale at $219, it looks to have a better spec?

I've been using the supplied 2 pin with adapter and it's been great, you'll be surprised how fast it charges it, mine goes from <10% to 100% in a little over an hour. Likewise, I'm getting 2-3 days battery usage with heavy web browsing and messaging, great phone at a great price.
Would have snapped this up if it was band 20. I'm on ee and need 4g to work! Any recommendations for something similar around £150 with decent camera and pushing it, quick charge...?
I've been using mine for about 2 weeks now and can't fault it. Nice super amoled screen, 64gb on board with microsd support.

Has an OTA nougat update. 4g is fine for me on three.

And the battery? Wow! I reckon I'd get 3 days of light use out of it. It's so liberating being able to do what you want with it without having to worry about running out of battery.

Ordered from Gearbest and took 6 days to arrive with no customs charges. Last hop was via Yodel. I think I paid about 3 quid extra and selected 'British priority mail'
