The S8 deal is back at £129.99 but the vat back has expired.

There have been conversations from past deals regarding this or the Hudl2. Seemingly this one is lighter, thinner and a brighter screen.

However the Lenovo doesn't have HDMI out and MHL doesn't appear to work either.

That is 7", Windows 8 and lower resolution, completely different products.

You can get the Hudl 2 for £109 with a £20 discount code which is posted on this site. Think it expires on 21 December.
Tempted myself as I will use the HDMI output.

Unfortunately you can't use the VAT back promotion from lenovo anymore. Otherwise it would have cost under £110

These have been rooted. So you can uninstall all the custom apps they have installed.

For the record, the screen is brilliant. Performance wise, well worth £130. Think mines costing around £107 after VAT. The speakers can be compared to that of the HTC One M7. (Never had the M8). Very good.

On this machine now. The screen is great sound and the sound is good. The speed of the browser is excellent too. My only complaint would be the battery life which seems to go pretty quick and i noticed once the backlight was dimming intermitantly which was an issue id read about but it has only happened the once and i use it daily so for now im keeping it. If you want something thin and light go instore and check this out.

Where does it say it's been rooted ?

avoid really poor build quality. it even has a manufacturing grid printed across the screen. gpad or galaxy tab pro better choices.

I'd be dubious about buying anything from Currys. Don't trust them, or their staff.

I bought it to replace a Tegra Note 7 that developed some issues and its been goof bar battery life. Will get a video on it with play and review.

Que? Manufacturing grid!? Tab Pro is £300. What planet you on?

If you decide to get one, don't apply any updates from lenovo. It consist a bug where display is reconfigured to very low 600x900! Lenovo knows about it but doest sees to care much about it. More on it at: forums.lenovo.com/t5/…209

My 2c... Lenovo decided to save a few pennies on this premium tablet and there is no light sensor.

My crashes at random and the os get reboot. The WiFi antenna must be placed under the logo as holding it by the side obstructs or prohibits the connectivity all together. This thing can get rather hot when used for longer even when browsing the net.

Check out the russian lenovo forums. It's all in there. I've got rid of all the bloatware that isn't needed.

As for the updates, I updated and changed the PPI back as I've got root. So it's updated, and the resolution is the same.
