Just grabbed one of these crackers from Currys - Android 4.4, quad core Intel 64 bit CPU, front facing Dolby-added speakers, full HD 1920 x 1200 IPS screen, 2GB RAM, Micro SD... Yes it's more or less the same spec as the Hudl2 but the screen is far brighter and the battery lasts longer too. It's also damn slim at 7.9mm and only weighs 300g.

They also claim something called Infinity Screen, meaning like the iPad Air 2 and such, the screen is bonded to the covering glass. Whether this is the truth I don't know but it looks fantastic and feels as close to the touch as my iPad Air 2 does, so they've done something right.

Lenovo is also doing VAT back on purchases from Currys so brings it down to a measly £107 - lenovo-offers.com/uk/…ck/

Online voucher IPADTAB20 brings it down online, or ask instore and they scan a barcode to knock £20 off.

Versus its nearest rival, the Hudl 2, its lighter (300g vs 410g), thinner, brighter screen, longer battery. Hudl 2 however does have HDMI, this doesn't, plus it has cases ready to go.

I doubt you will be able to use the £20 tablet code and o2 as the o2 app states not in conjunction with other offers

This is ddr3 ram guys better than old models

And no sadly you can't use O2 Priority Moments vouchers with this offer.

I had a quick play on the new hudl2 in tesco and it lagged on the home screens with alarming regularity...

if this tablet is similar this wouldn't really be an upgrade over my current nexus 2013 would it? it's still silky smooth.

Yes. See the online advert.

OP Just wanted to say thanks, that's a great price and product and considering i'm on various tech sites every day, this one managed to slip past me. Coupled with the Code and VAT back this is a great deal and worth it for the battery over the Hudl 2.

Thanks for the benchmarks too, seems like a solid device, don't forget to chuck nova launcher on though

No they aint as a product of £833.33 + 20% vat is £166.67 making £1000

Its not just a straight 20% off the vat inclusive price , as VAT is 20% of the non vat price

No worries. Yes Nova and Moonshine icons were the first things on, keep it minimal. The stock launcher is a bit Shenzen. Hopefully root will be along soon to clear these apps out making it nearly stock.

So Yoga 10 HD+ will be sent back to Amazon sorry if no cashback on that one

Hahah i use moonshine too. Good that's it's 64 bit too, might help the battery when Lollipop comes along. Root is usually fine on lenovo tablets so fingers crossed.

Android L?

Just saw this today and I was really impressed with it. It's really the best deal out there by a long shot, only missing feature is that no major custom ROMs support it yet. Also, no custom fit covers with keyboards or other accessories yet.

Even without the cashback voucher it's quite amazing.

Will Win8 install on this?

Just wondering will I send back this one and order this.
The one below has 3g on it but.

This looks a lot nicer in real life than the Hudl.
I saw it yesterday in Currys and was tempted to buy it even though I don't need it.

Good specs and price

compared to Ops deal that is a rip off it has lower specs all round Apart from the 3g m.gsmarena.com/len…hpf

At around 300g it's not all that heavy, either, a trend I'm really liking in tablets these days. Given its price and specifications, the S8 seems ready to compete aggressively with other tablets in this part of the market. For real Android enthusiasts, though, Lenovo's rather heavy UI layer and murky update track record are probably reason enough to stay away.

I can understand that. However, with the ubiquity of this Atom chipset and it being 64 bit and therefore Lollipop compatible, I can't imagine we will be wanting for ROMs for long.

Heat, good spot.

You have the same 3g tablet as me and if you look at my previous post I was tempted to get this newer version but resisted.
The reason is I flashed my Lenovo 3g version with the A8-50HV firmware and I now have a full functioning phone/tablet that I use a '3' pay as you go sim card with all you can eat data and I can make phone calls on.

Was just about to post...
How does the lenovo compare to the LG G Pad
amazon.co.uk/LG-…MNE

How do you find the tablet speed ways?
Where do you get the update
was it hard to update.
Would you recommend this tab. The one i have ordered is due tomorrow.
Thanks in advance

Thinking hard about getting this one, bargain price but one thing if anyone can clarify, does it have a sim slot? Little research shows it depends on the location but would be good to know for sure. Thanks.
