Another nice price.

3410454.jpgThis new Google-powered Lenovo Smart Speaker is the first of its kind, bringing new and exciting innovation to your home. Choose to stand the 8-inch display horizontally or vertically, the wedge-shaped back accommodates both. It's both touch-screen and voice controlled, so with a 'Hey Google' you can ask it to do things like video call friends, check your calendar, set reminders, play music, control smart home appliances and ask for recipes, which are then transformed into step by step instructions, so you can follow the recipe in real time.

If you want to watch apps like Netflix, you can cast it to the Lenovo Smart Speaker, providing your phone has a cast feature. You can also ask to watch a channel, and if you're a YouTube subscriber it'll pull it live right from there. Cool huh? Plus, it comes with a True Block Privacy Shutter to cover your camera lens and a microphone mute button to help safeguard your privacy.

I bought the AO deal... didn’t really know what it did but it’s given my kids hours of fun by harassing it & asking google to bark like a dog, sing a lullaby and do your ears hang low! We also have an amazon echo that they compare dog barks & answers to random questions etc with (they’re so easily pleased!)

Thanks, OP! Good deal. Can anyone confirm that I can watch Netflix on it, cast from a iPhone XR?

Bought one anyway... but does anyone know if these things have play store, or the ability to add apps ?
Be nice to view my yi cameras...
Thanks OP, been after a Google hub and this seems a better option (and better price)
Been offered a Google hub max for £120 (private sale) just wondering if the £65 is worth it or this would pretty much do the same thing? Any views or advice appreciated..

Been binging reviews... looks to work identically.
Be wary of a known issue with the ribbon cable connecting the screen to the motherboard. It makes the screen flicker and fail. Lenovo shipped them knowing they were affected by this issue and relied on customers returning them to resolve the fault. My own unit had this and they were SO slow in repairing it. RMA procedure was over complicated.

Doesn't work on my one. Android but nothing out there suggesting it's any different for ios
Bought one of this last time. I had lots of issues with the microphone, I don't have the best accent but it really struggled to understand me. Sent it back and replaced it with a Google home and it's miles better.
Paid £80 for this when it recently came out...use it everyday, awesome at this price!

Tempting. I read somewhere that the Lenovo doesn't have ambient light sensor. Is this true and does it make much of a difference?

Its never affected it for us. We use it when we cook tea etc. So it just stays the same at all times, screen goes dark when you switch the light off, obviously to save power.
Wow, that is hideous. But a good price
Very good device.i got it the last time it was here

Haha yeah!

Ok so it's ordered and on the way (I think I must have gotten the last one!)

We have a 2nd gen mini at the moment, how does the sound from Lenovo compare to 2nd gen mini? We like to have a lot of music playing during the evening's

The second gen mini is much louder, but for outlr kitchen, the smart display is perfect.

Wow really, that might be a deal breaker for me.

Anyhow let's see when it arrives, I'll check out some more reviews, can always return to Argos if it's not suitable.

On a side now, the Google nest (the one with the screen) how does that compare with the sound output from 2nd gen?

I'm not planning on putting the smart display in the kitchen, we have open plan so I would be looking to out the smart display in the living room but close to the kitchen so you can still see it.

Maybe the nest max might be more suitable for my needs.

I don't know mate, I've never used that one, so can't comment.

Not quite so. Does the same job ultimately, but just like with the Pixel phones, Google's own stuff gets the newer features first. I own a Max and have only had a quick fiddle with the Lenovo, but sound quality on the Max is far superior from what I can tell due to bigger drivers (but the Lenovo sounds better than the smaller Google display). If display size matters I'd say it depends whether you think the extra cost is worth a couple more inches
Good deal
