Are they slow to update the software?

Is this the one that becomes a brick on upgrading to windows 10?

What software?
These will get same Windows updates that any "normal" PC will.

according to reviews yes

Borat

according to reviews yes

Or not, according to other reviews!

Lenovo has updated BIOS and some drivers:

support.lenovo.com/gb/…iby?linkTrack=Homepage:Body_Search%20Products

But you can use all the newer drivers on the Intel's website - Compute Stick, the hardware is the same.

Re. upgrading to Win10, from the Q&A section:

Question:
I can't get mine to successfully take the windows 10 upgrade. It fails at 84% whilst 'configuring settings'. I use the create media method. Any clues?

Answer:
We eventually returned ours for similar reasons. My son was "in charge "of the upgrade on my behalf and says it froze up completely and was unable to take it any further . I suggest you send it back.
By Hesperus on 22 November 2015

Hi, no clues I'm afraid as I can't remember how I did it as I have upgraded six machines recently and all went a bit differently. However I confirm it can be done and it works well.
By PCR on 22 November 2015

It is likely that the 32GB eMMC isn't large enough to handle the upgrade file download. I had a similar issue with a 32GB eMMC-loaded Acer laptop. I got around it by sticking in a 16GB USB drive and instructing the Windows 10 upgrade application to use that as temporary storage for the upgrade. That might help anyone else trying to upgrade this machine. see less

The latter two suggest it is very possible - between this and Adrian7's comment above I'd say anyone with half a clue and some common sense is in with a reasonable chance.

Good price, but given the problems with updating and wifi, I looked elsewhere and found this on GearBest.

From reviews of cherry trail i believe the soc is alot better and for about £15 more im very tempted to get it.

Anyone know of any problems with these?

I'd imagine openelec would make a great media centre PC on this if it's supported.

If you can wait, Intel new range of sticks and innards will be coming out this quarter, no official date but the specs look promising.

It will not decode x265/HEVC videos.

When you consider that this is a tiny fully functional Windows PC, it's hard not to vote hot at £50.

Great price.

Will be good for kodi and xbox one streaming on medium to high depending on your network

Am I right in thinking that you can't load other OS on to this as there is no USB port to boot off a dvd or similar?

Does anybody know if you can run these in headless mode (I.e. Without being connected to a display)? And is anyone running Linux on them? Cheers

I don't know about that but I am running raspian on a pi 2 in headless mode. You can install tightvnc to connect. Seems pretty good and responsive and all in with case card power supply and unit comes in at around £35 at the moment.

Will try at this price. If no good will return. Cannot find any guides to safely upgrade to Windows 10. Anyone got any useful guide/video to add to post please? Thanks

If you're looking to run Kodi on it, then yes according to this:

cnx-software.com/201…-1/

Bought one - will be watching Sky-Go, BT Sport etc on a 'Dumb' TV ........ £50 is fine, Amazon will also be fine if it doesn't work.....

Shame there is no PCI-E slot to add a graphics card.

Guys it's rubbish, read the reviews!
PI 2, PI 2, PI 2!!!!
GIve me one reason why you'd want to run Windows whilst being plugged into a TV!?

If you look at the 1 star reviews most of them are for the above mentioned Windows 10 upgrade problem, one is a failure and one is someone who didn't read the description.

Two of the three 2 star ratings are also Windows 10 upgrade problems.

Thanks, I've already got a few RPis doing various things, but the Atom on these is much quicker than the Rpi's ARM, plus it has 2Gb RAM.

Too weak for what exactly?

Can't do Blu-ray on a Pi. Plus since there's no official Blu-ray player software is available on their system, Linux users have to use open-source libraries capable of handling the DRM schemes that protect these disc contents. Making it a pain in the ****.

Also can the Pi drive my 4K TV at 4K?
Edited by: "ollie87" 28th Jan 2016

Is it easy to put Linux Mint on these?

Why Mini HDMI? Does it come with a lead to enable it to plug into a normal HDMI? Its the one thing preventing me from buying this

I don't need USB Type-C.

I can upgrade it instead of throwing it away.

It'll be a lot more powerful for less money.

I can choose my case.

I can add an internal optical drive.

I can play AAA games on it.

**** alert.
