Hopefully this is a decent deal (considering I just bought one!)

  • 2rd Generation Intel Core i5 [2520M] 2.50GHz Processor
  • 4GB (DDR3) RAM and a 320GB (7200RPM) HDD
  • 14" HD (1366x768) LED backlit screen
  • Windows 10 Professional Pre-Installed with Certificate of Authenticity
  • DVD RW
  • 320GB SATA @ 7200RPM
  • Weighs about 2.2kgs

Seems to be a decent seller with 100% feedback.

One year warranty:
  • A Certified Refurbished product has been tested and certified to look and work like new. The product is backed by a minimum 1-year limited warranty, and may arrive in a generic brown or white box. The product ships with all relevant accessories excluding headphones, manual or SIM card. Accessories may be generic and not directly from the manufacturer.

This seems Avery good price for an i5 amongst other components laptop.... Please to the techies...it's Not the Best Ever Laptop but I'm just saying Price& Spec seems Good?
You can buy a better spec business laptop with SSD, 4th gen i5 and 8 GB RAM for under £200 on eBay. This deal is awful.
These can be picked up on eBay for around £130 so cold from me
And believe me I know because I bought one
These can be had for around £150 on ebay from the refurb places

Ancient processor, (wtf is '2rd generation' reads like 'turd' in my head)? battery life will be awful, heavy, poor resolution screen etc. Better off getting a new LapBook or EZBook off Gearbeast for similar money but newer tech, all metal chassis for longer battery life and better portability IMO.

Looking for a new laptop myself Gearbest what's delivery time like for these have only bought cheaper items of them and usually take a mth.
But the specs do look great.

Sorry but like others said this is ice cold as deals go. A quick trawl reveals the following options that smoke this deal.

rectech.co.uk/7,1…tml

  • Core i5 2.6GHz
  • 3rd Generation Core i5 (a newer gen processor)
  • 8GB RAM (twice as much ram)
  • 320GB
  • Webcam
  • Built In WiFi
  • 14.1" Widescreen
  • Windows 7 64 Bit (easy to upgrade to W10 if you want to)
  • 1600x900 (the better screen)

£169.98 delivered.

gigarefurb.co.uk/len…tml

Same basic machine with the more powerful i7 for £5 less.

That's 2 better deals and without really trying to find a better one. A mid range i5 T420 is worth about £140 at most and I'd expect a warranty and it to be immaculate.

Don't have personal experience, I'm in the same boat as you but from what others have said anywhere between 1 and 3 weeks.
The 2520M CPU IS ONLY 25% SLOWER THAN A MODERN 7200U CPU. Put an SSD in this and it will serve anyone well. I agree though you could probably find better on eBay.
The other week I won on eBay a Lenovo T430 (i7, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD, 1600x900 screen) for £160. There are far better bargains around than this I'm afraid...

Thank you all for the responses. Seems like I have a lot to learn with buying a laptop but feel a little better educated! I did post a "help me find a refurb laptop" on here but didn't get any replies. If I can, I'll send this one back and do some research on the links kindly provided.

Unfortunately the ask and misc sections of HUKD are pretty dead areas of the site in terms of traffic. If you're ever unsure of if something is a good deal or not the best option it to post it before you buy and see what people are saying. If it's not a good deal you'll get a pretty quick answer like you did here.

If it helps, this was a really great laptop a few years back, one of Lenovo's truly golden moments. I managed to get our local school 15 of these from work, but with more RAM (8GB) and the higher resolution screen, for nothing. They're all still going strong, some 3 years later, remembering that they were over 3 years old then. It's not that you purchased a total dud, more you just overpaid.

The T430 posted earlier would be a great buy. Also saw a T440 on eBay just now for £219.99. Also one for £214.99 or best offer.
Had one of those for work mid-2011. Loved this laptop, really good build. The T430 which came after was a great machine too and then the T440p was chunkier and had awful mouse buttons.
The T420 is more than ok to run Windows 10 on, but worth replacing harddisk with an SSD.
But this price is too high, and you'll probably have to invest in a new battery :-(
