Isn't this an APU with the 2GB integrated Radeon 5. Benchmark is celeron …Isn't this an APU with the 2GB integrated Radeon 5. Benchmark is celeron territory so wondering what real world performance would be like? Bit more money maybe go for a i3 8th gen or Ryzen 3? Thoughts from those in the know?

This processor is crap, AVOID!

Ignore the "Gaming" part but this is a good spec for new at £254. The poor CPU should be (mainly) mitigated by the SSD which is itself a good size.

No, it has dedicated Radeon 530, that's why it called "gaming". For this price is Ok.

even at this price point its really not very good, you'd be better off going for any 2200u laptop as it has a significantly better cpu and the gpu is about the same as the 530 but it will actually be utilised fully.

really surprised amd hasn't abandoned all the bulldozer based cores as it really cant be good for their reputation/mindshare when less informed people will see the amd sticker and associate amd with being slow.
As someone after a cheap gaming laptop, should I jump on this? Not really wanting to play much in the way of brand new games, maybe xcom:ew and some older games like witcher, portal, half life, quake etc

I wouldn't bother. Either go down the newer route of AMD Ryzen based laptops, or look on the used market for slightly older Intel systems with dedicated GPU.

While this price certainly isn't bad, the performance will leave a lot to be desired. I had a laptop with a quad core A10 (9620p) and not only was it unable to keep up with basic gaming, it would glitch and/or lag during HD video streaming every 20-30 seconds so really wasn't up to the task.

This was after doubling the factory standard RAM, and trying a completely fresh install of Windows and newest drivers on the SSD to rule out the possibility that it wasn't the processor at fault.
you could probably run games like LOL and Rocketleague on this, I wouldnt expect it to handle things like CSGO very well since they updated it. Good Price for a laptop for Very Light Gaming and then everyday use
Microsoft solitaire is all this could handle. Which to be fair is a game, so ...
Would Fortnite work on this?
Gaming as in you can play Pac-Man and centipede on max settings.

Yes, but I don't imagine it would work very well. As I said in an earlier comment you are better going for a Ryzen based system, or looking on the used market for an Intel laptop with dedicated GPU.
I'm after a basic laptop just for general browsing, word etc anyway, with the added bonus of playing some old games for nostalgia more than anything so I've went for it and will give a little review after I've had a play around with it.
