Been looking for a laptop for my Daughter and ended up ordering the Lenovo IdeaPad S340 from Argos, decent deal (which includes some Quidco cash back). THEN This morning I got this deal in an Email, seems very similar specs but adds Windows 10 rather than Windows 10 S & has a 3 year free warranty. Food for thought

Does this have an IPS screen, not obvious from description, was going to buy this one from AO ao.com/pro…der
but out of stock at present, can anyone say which is better overall?
The screen may be poor but ssd is PCIe - NVMe - nice and fast. Good for £350 (subject to CPU throttling :-(
NB I bought this two days ago with the eBay 20% code for £315 (it was £389.99 on their eBay store.

So just FYI it’s been £35 cheaper very recently.
By the way to say the screen is “poor” is bonkers! It’s an alright laptop display, got nothing to compare it to but it looks perfectly respectable to me!

Have a look at YouTube videos of TN and IPS side by side, it’s madness to describe TN as “poor” - it’s just slightly worse on those comparisons.
Just wait for BF and if you do not get what you are looking for the xmas hol`s will give you more options.

Ok, poor compared to IPS. If you haven't experiencd IPS this will be fine, especially for the price, CPU, fast ssd...
The Lenovo IdeaPad 330S-15ARR at AO for £350 was the better buy. Very slightly slower chipset (2500U) but the IPS screen will always be worth it.

It's gone out of stock now (no surprise) but it should come back in.

The reason why IPS matters for a laptop more so than even a desktop is simple. You're always moving it around. Sitting, laying, standing. Looking at the screen at different angles, or showing people things on it, looking from the side or over shoulders. At least I am.

So unless you are front and centre with perfect lid tilt angle it looks pish.
buy now or wait to BF

It is fine, nothing wrong with the display, £315 for an amazing bit of kit imo

Any good for gaming ?
just bought this as well. good find
Can you add a 2nd SATA SSD to this does anyone know? I installed a 2nd SSD in my current laptop in a DVD drive caddy, would be good to transfer both 500Gb SSD's to this laptop.
