£399 at currys. Not a huge saving.

The HD620 is only about 6% faster than the HD520.

Not sure about Curry's but same one (I think) at laptopoutlet...
<banned web site laptopoutlet>

Not quite sure why banned but I notice that the Ebay shop Retail Direct is the same place. Not voting.

Same address as Laptopoutlet.

I don't think it's on the currys site. Do you have a link?

I believe this is the same laptop for a few pounds cheaper: ebay.co.uk/itm…ed5

Tesco have it also, think it is the same model: tesco.com/dir…ers

Looks like it's got a nice 1080p IPS display. Not bad. Most laptops this price skimp on the display.

Got mine at John Lewis from a deal here. It now crashes at least once an hour. No idea why. No blue screen or anything just halts.

Will be ringing JL tomorrow. It's useless.. Shame as it's very fast.

Ah ok. That is the 320s-14IKB, no Full HD screen like the one posted.

Not a great deal considering John Lewis are doing a Lenovo 320 for £450 has 8gb of ram plus a 14” display and 2 year John Lewis guarantee.

When you say completely different, you really mean virtually identical? Which they are except screen res.

A lock of memory should not cause freezing. It would cause a pc to run slow but not freeze. There is something wrong.

Nothing to do with lack of memory. Stops working randomly. Freezes completely and only way out is to hold off button down.

Guess as it's over a month old I stand no chance of a refund though and have to wait 2 weeks for them to try repair it:(

Have you tried to run a chkdsk? It'll check and where possible/applicable, try to fix any disc errors. That may help with the issue. To do so, Command Prompt, and click Run as administrator from the drop down menu.. Type cd\ and press ENTER. Type "chkdsk c: /r". Restart your laptop.

Note that it can take hours to run and it sometimes looks like it's stuck at a certain percentage. Don't turn the laptop off as it will still be running.

Yes done that no errors. Run memcheck as well. And changed power settings. And updated bios. And drivers. Only other thing is removing Kaspersky just in case... But never had issues before.

You can but it's doesn't have the different areas in the Base. Ie you need to remove the entire base.

Yes but some people's budget is £400 not £450. Find the OP a similar spec for cheaper which may be more helpful for those without the extra £50 to burn.

Very much doubt is Kaspersky but worth a shot. Maybe run a virus scan, malwarebytes and ccleaner? Unlikely that these will fix it but you never know without trying. Good luck

Further to my precious comment, please note that upgrades are quite expensive, so may be worth checking if there's a model with more RAM pre-installed, which may be cheaper than upgrading this.

Yeah no virus. Will check for malware next. But think Kaspersky does that anyway....

There's always the Black Friday/Cyber Monday Weekend thing coming up shortly? (by the minute now?), lol. :-D

Which makes it a completely different laptop, ever thought that comparing a 14" laptop against 13.3" laptop is rather daft.

People choose small screens in high value laptops, just look at Apple....

Does it still happen in safe mode? I do a W10 reset without losing data and see what happens then.

Not tried as its random and can sometimes to it within 10 mins and sometimes a couple of hours.

Will do... JL just told me to do a factory reset and if that doesn't work take it in for repair as its just past the 30 days (of course!!). Should have stuck with the people saying to avoid Lenovo's... but of course it could just be Kaspersky / something else.

You need to go and look at these two. They look almost identical side by side. High priced laptops like apple are not high value.

Kaspersky is a hungry bit of software, so good idea to remove it. There is another option you can look at, type in MSconfig in start and it will take you to system configuration, then go to start up and check what programmes start up when your computer boots up, you will amazed how many unnecessary apps are running on you computer. just disable the ones you don't use very often, it will not cause any problems as long it is not system based and when you need them just click on it and use them, when you re-start the computer they will no longer be running in the background.
