LENOVO X60 Laptop - Grade C - £37 @ SCH-Trade

Now....before this deal becomes encased under several sheets of ice, gimme a second to explain.

Yes, it's about 5 years old.
Yes, it's Grade C = it has NO WARRANTY, NO SUPPORT, NO AC ADAPTOR, (practically) NO BATTERY, NO OPERATING SYSTEM and is NOT GUARANTEED TO EVEN TURN ON.

However, it does come with a 40GB Hard Drive and 1GB RAM, so in all probability, once you stick Ubuntu or XP (maybe even Windows 8?? :P) you have a fully functioning, light, compact laptop more powerful than any tablet several times it's price.

As a cheap, general laptop with an EXCELLENT keyboard, or even as a project, at this price, nothing beats it.

***To clarify, this is not a laptop that just works out the box. At the very least, you need to purchase an AC adaptor like This one: amazon.co.uk/Ada…e_2

However, you may get lucky! :P

Merry Christmas to all.

This unit is sold for spares only.
It is untested and may be missing items such as the optical drive, hard drive and memory.

They do not come with AC Adapter or any other cables.

Pricey paperweight

+ £50 SSD + £15 ram + £7 generic psu + £15 generic battery = brilliant little sub notebook

Personally I would look on for something else so, especially since it is only has a single core processor.

Got 2 of these a few weeks back and both worked perfectly. Small bit of plastic between sd reader and pcmcia slot broken. Batteries both extended types, giving about 2.5 hours life. Hardly seem like paperweights to me.

Better than this :P

it may not even have hard drive and/or memory - then it starts getting pricey to get it to a working state.

and it will almost certainly need a battery ...

sorry cold - too much hassle when it could end up costing best part of £100

The website has clearly mentioned that this unit is sold for spares only. So no use of buying this.

You can usually buy grade a or b off of them they usually just need an ac adapter and operating system - the two I bought were x61's with core 2 duo 2ghz processors and 4gb ram for £90 each - just keep looking.

I have bought over 10 grade c's off them and all have worked. I agree it's a lottery, but the odds are good in my experience.

There are others the exact same on the website.

going to paint 1 white and put an apple logo on it

how do you get windows 7 costs so much

Grade C is parts-only. If you want a working one, go for Grade B at least.

One word - WHY - ?

I would always rather go for a decent 2nd user laptop that is a little bit older than a budget current model.

(Depending on what I needed it for I might go for a new one but it would be from a premium / business range every time.)

Easy way to check if you are buying an Intel laptop is whether it has vpro. And if it has Nvidia Discrete Graphics it will be a Quadro not a Geforce. (ATI will be something similar but I don't know off the top of my head what it will be labelled as).

You will also be more likely to be able to get parts if you need them for it.
(Especially if the 2nd user one is a Thinkpad oi Semi rugged Panasonic Toughbook).

Tierone online is quite good for this sort of thing.

There are Thinkpads that are still pretty powerful that are around with a 1920x1200 Matte screen.

They tell you what processor is in them so while your post is informative I'm not sure the point of it?

These are great laptops, as powerful as atom netbooks, and far better constructed. You are taking a gamble on the condition, but the ones I have had have all worked. Last time I reply to trolls I promise myself.
