Y50-70 from Lenovo's gaming line of laptops. Very unusual to see an 860m based laptop at this price. Currently 7 left in stock.

Pros:
- The specs
- The price

Cons
- Ex-demo machine. Not sure what condition that's going to result in.
- The description says that this is an IPS screen. Whilst that is possible, I suspect that might be an error as most of the reviews say that it has a TN panel. For the TN panel model, the screen is rather poor/average depending on which reviews you read, the primary criticism being that it lack brightness, colour saturation and contrast (have a look at Link 6 below to see what this might look like and also Link 1 for possible solutions)
- Lenovo AccuType keyboard looks nice but isn't that great to type on IMO. Not one for high speed touch typists.
- Keyboard is the Nordic keyboard layout so looks like this:

Also make sure you remove the Lenovo Superfish malware.

Despite the 'cons', I think this is a terrific amount of laptop for the price. They offer cashback of £2-3 if you pay by debit card, but I wouldn't bother, and would instead, use a credit card. At least with a credit card, you have the benefit of greater consumer protection under the Consumer Credit Act, which you don't with a debit card. There's also a PayPal option.

Screenshots of the specs (just in case in turns out to a TN panel instead of the advertised IPS). If it turns out to be an IPS panel, that makes this an amazing deal since it removes the main weakness of this laptop.

Not 100% conclusive but typing in the model number 59438458 at support.lenovo.com/us/…kup bring up a list of parts for that laptop....within that list is a AUO B156HTN03.6 FHD AG S LED1 NB LCD (TN panel) :-( At least the pixel response times are fast though at around 8ms (compared to around 35ms for IPS).

Someone swapping out the TN panel for an IPS. Probably not for the squeamish but it looks fairly straightforward....

The HWInfo program will tell what type of panel is included in the Y50-70:
    reddit.com/r/S…1dt
Gaminglaptopsjunky say that the AUO B156HAN1.2 (IPS) panel can be used.
    gaminglaptopsjunky.com/y50…sy/
In a revised version of this laptop, Laptopmedia say Lenovo uses the LP156WF4_SPL1
    laptopmedia.com/rev…er/
The TN panel seems to be Chi Mei CMN15C4 (N156HGE-EAB), TN LED, glossy: no

Big thread on NBR about panel types: forum.notebookreview.com/thr…26/

Simple way of converting the Nordic keyboard to UK.
    - Change the keyboard / region to UK in Windows and they buy some "keyboard stickers" from Amazon or Ebay. They're vinyl stickers you stick on the key caps to change the symbol. About £2 and you only need stickers for 5 symbol keys.

Replacement keyboard part numbers (not worth the time and effort IMO unless you're already taking the machine apart for some other reason).

Super hot! Just got an i7 version for... a lot more than this.
hot if you want a branded robust laptop, similar price on pcspecialist but have to forgo os to get it.
Hot! I wish I could afford it
OP .. the reason as to why the very low price is because of the fact that its ex-demo? .. aka a manufacturer's refurb?. :-)
Sweet specs for the price though.
Any ideas on the warranty with this?
Just ordered cheers OP. You are also apparently covered by google certified shops.. whatever that means
    Insane deal
All i can say right now is that the panel is one of the worst, it's very bad TN, but can be changed to ips easily.
A lot of these were returned for iffy SSHD's as I found out

Alright if you're planning on fitting a proper SSD

Take note of the get out clause:

I have one, and while mine is good, there are loads of slightly different versions and these, some are bad some are good.

It's a used laptop with it's origins in a nordic country. Would be daft to buy this.

Because it's a laptop and for the price it is really good?
Still 4 in stock so why is it expired? Having said that I wouldn't fancy an ex demo where kids have been banging on the keyboard. Just my opinion though
On a phone right now but does this have an mSATA slot or second HD caddy? Also what's the warranty situation?
I've just ordered one, think they're back in stock? My missus is going to KILL me later, I'm actually quite nervous!

No to both AFAIK. They've tried to keep this laptop slim.

The MSI in the deal below has both though - spare mSATA (M2 I think) as well as a CD bay which you could caddy with another SSD/HDD

Only i7 versions left at a much higher price...

To those who managed to get one, I'd be interested in hearing your comments on this laptop when it arrives.

Should arrive today hopefully. I actually need it for work on Thursday so here's hoping its not tattered.

Edit: Also says 2 in stock for me.

Anyone currently have this model, seems pretty decent for the price looking to play current games on it and upcoming games like fallout 4. saveonlaptops.co.uk/594…IgQ
Mine came today- looks brand new, not a scuff anywhere. Screen isn't great (as the review warned) but other than that I'm really happy with it!
