Guys - this only comes with a 1 years depot warranty by default. Luckily, the 2 years depot warranty upgrade is ONLY £18 (click the "change" button to see it). I would go as far as suggesting that the £18 is a mandatory spend (unless you've got good content/home insurance). 3 years warranty is £46 (your milage may vary, I find this 3 years option a bit excessive - only get this if you know you'll still be using it then). Onsite option / accidental cover also available.

Don't be that guy whose hugely expensively laptop breaks just outside the warranty period. Have had Y510P, Y700P, etc. It's not that the quality is bad. It's just the GPU is probably soldiered on. Anything on the MB has issue, or the keypad/trackpad stops working outside the warranty period - you're in for a huge repair cost (sometimes it's not replaceable by anyone other than Lenovo due to parts shortage - outside warranty, let's just say their repair cost is not low).

Don't mean to scare. It's a costly expenditure, so take the necessary measure to safeguard it against sudden depreciation.

Ah if this was QHD I'd be there! So hard to find a QHD laptop with a 1070 xD Heat tho.

Quite a nice price for the specs but shame the 1070 won’t be pushed too hard by the monitor limit. A 144hz or 2k monitor would make more sense

An extra £100 off for those who have a studentbeans account which brings the total down to £1,198.79

Please note this a desktop replacement grade laptop so very bulky and reviews aren't all that great. Still cracking price for it.

It is 2K, do you mean 2560x1440 qHD?

Most people refer to 2k as QHD as it is half the density of a 4K screen, but technically this is wrong.

2k does not equal 1920x1080 FHD, however

literaly not, but 2,048×1,080 is, so 1920x1080 is close enough for me for the terms we are talking about. 2048x1080 is not going to make a gpu work much harder compared to 1920x1080.

pity it's a two year old chipset... I guess they need to get rid of old stock... Medion Erazer X7851

Article says: QHD could even be referred to as 2.5K, but some people resists in calling these displays 2K.

Here's the technical info (wikipedia)

HD for 1280x720
FHD for 1920x1080 / 2K 2048x1080
QHD for 2560x1440
4K UHD for 3840x2160 / 4K 4096x2160

QHD is literally 2.5K so it's wrong calling it 2K

Didn’t realise the pedantic police were on here too

StudentBeans Discount on top too £1198.79

Its arrived and is a thing of beauty. A lot (if not all) of the chassis is aluminium. It is huge!

The DVD drive is a portable unit connected via USB. It was hidden at the bottom of the box!

Wow very impressive!

Can you confirm if the RAM is 1x16GB or 2x8GB? Open task manager > performance > memory >slots used, is it one or two?
Edited by: "Quicklite" 28th Nov

Two sims are used. I though you had to use paired sims?

Okay - no worries 2x8GB it is - some laptop manufactures ships 1x16GB + 1x empty slot - making 32GB easily upgradable.

There are 4 slots, two used and two free, but I think the two free ones are on top of the motherboard, i.e. under the very colourful keyboard. I haven’t opened it to check but that’s what the reviews say

Wow upto 64GB RAM.

Well pleased with it. Spare pci slot for another solid state disk and got 10% off through affinity scheme at work.

The screen is very bright and sharp. The panel is a bit lost is the huge lid; there's about an inch at the bottom unused.

Keyboard is fine. It's mechanical and lit in lots of colours. You can turn the lights off or have one colour or get them to pulse. Slightly odd layout but easy to get used to.

Fans perk up ever so often for s couple of seconds which is totally acceptable!
