The 7 won't be out for two years. No one has any idea what feature it will have.

Android, sigh. Heat though for those that like it.

Actually you can't prove it's either ;).

It's possible, they did it with the iPad 3 and iPad 4. But it's still only a rumour, still waiting on that iPad Pro.

Ah you have one too? Any other tips? I just got mine this week!

What is the performance like on this say compared to similar priced Android tabs (£350-£450).

Also, any chance these can be dual booted with Windows? I am sure I read on one web site "choose your OS", not sure if this means it can take Windows?

Original Poster

There is a windows one - hence choose your OS. But.. It doesn't have a projector!.. Otherwise I would have got that one instead.

No way to dual boot that I am aware of..

Original Poster

Oh and performance compares well with the iPad Air and Samsung Tab Pro. I haven't really used a £350-£450 Android Tab (that is a lot of money for an Android Tab without the huge screen and projector function of this device).

I prefer Android, but need Windows for 1 pc of software and USB (via Windows).

Original Poster

Ah I fancy a bit more windows in my life so would have gone that way. But as I say - no projector - so it would be madness to get that one!..

No it doesn't! Not even close!! Performance is this tablets only real downside, if you want it of gaming you will be disappointed with its performance on high end games. Fine for everything else but it is far from a powerhouse.

Asphalt 8 doesn't require much power. it only has a 1.33mhz quad core processor, this is what you would have expected in 2012 not 2015. Add to that a not particularly powerful graphics chip and you're looking at something that would struggle going up against a 2012 Nexus 7 never mind a current top end tablet!

Something had to give to bring this to the market at the price point it has and that is what's inside, its not a bad tablet by any means but please don't try and compare it to an Air or Tab Pro 2 because it isn't anything like.

My point is this. I have owned all three. And for the tasks I use a tablet for - internet, games from the play store, videos, books etc. This one is in no noticable way different to those two tablets.

I don't care what your point is, it isn't! Not even close!! Read the review posted earlier, the test results are plain to see and if you think the Air was performing like the Yoga then no wonder you got rid because it must have been a duffer!

Like I said originally, it is perfectly ok for day to day stuff but push it and you'll soon see how it struggles.

Shame it's not available at Tesco cos we just got our clubcard vouchers.

Is it just me? I really don't care how it compares with the iPad Air. For me, the extra resolution just doesn't equate with the price you have to pay for an iPad Air. I'm here for bargains not, what I consider, to be too expensive kit.

Does the GPS work in projector mode?

For some reason I picture you projecting a movie on your car dashboard while you use the tab as the biggest GPS in the world. I fear this may be dangerous for driving..

Yeah, it would be good to make sure the OS goes in the title or description in the future, please, given similarly named models come with a "proper" OS which many would be more interested in.

You can't compare the clock speeds of completely different processors to judge performance - the Yoga in this deal uses an Intel X86 processor which is entirely different to the Armv7 based processors you've quoted. The Intel processor does far more per clock cycle giving it similar performance to much higher clocked Arm processors, it's much faster than the 2012 Nexus 7 (Tegra 3, quad cortex A9's) and also faster than the 2013 Nexus 7 (Snapdraon S4 pro, quad Krait 300) and offers performance around the level of a Snapdragon 800/Exynos 5. The performance isn't at the very top end but it's still above mid range and far better than you're making out due to your clock speed misunderstanding:

FGS.... It still lacks performance against the 2 tablets the OP mentioned. Apple don't mention anything about clock speeds either but the simple fact is performance wise it is no better than mid range and isn't anywhere near the performance of a current high spec tablet it is priced up against. You can quote all the figures you like but bench tests (note tests...) give this tablet sub par performance compared to the similar priced competition!

Bottom line is it isn't aimed at the tablets the OP mentioned and as a daily device to use it is just fine but to compare it like comparing a Fiesta to a Ferrari and claiming it is just as good when all you have done is driven both cars around the forecourt is ridiculous and the point I was getting at.

I have done a lot of research into this tablet since it was 1st shown and will still probably end up owning one when the weather improves as it looks ideal for viewing and music on the decking in summer but I'm under no illusion as to what its strengths and weaknesses are and so should other potential buyers.

Don't know why there's even a discussion about iPads because no Apple device has a projector built in and certainly not the same type of device as this.

FYI, we had a Samsung Galaxy Beam (15 lumens) and it was a lot of fun.
This being 50 lumens, and with a 13" screen....damn. I want one :-)

projector resolution is 854x480

There hasn't been a discussion about iPads. The discussion has been about the power of this tablet. Let's face facts, you aren't going to buy this just to project images because 50 lumens is useless in all but quite heavily darkened environments - its just a novel addition.

Original Poster

A lovely novel addition that makes me smile. One that I have used every night since I bought the tablet.. Absolutely I would say it's pretty pants in daylight but it is great in proper dark and more than acceptable in half dark. It's so perfect for watching TV in bed I might end up using it as much as I use my TV..

My cat enjoying pictures of other cats. Observe the lumens. Apologies for the mess.

There large screen Tablets/PCs definitely have a market for people like me who like to read comfortably. I already have a 9.7" IPS tablet to read stuff on but there is no doubt I could do with a extra inch or 2 to make text really stand out and make it more enjoyable.

My ideal would a tablet/PC like the Microsoft Surface 3, but cannot justify the £700 price - Already have a laptop, so simply getting a decent large tablet would be good enough for me. Still, in browsing I looked at the much lower priced alternative to the Surface pro 3 the Dell Venue 11 (which has a 10.8" screen and is Windows 8).

I like the YOGA, The 13.3" screen and fact you can install Windows and the projector does seem pretty neat!!

But in practical terms - using the Android - Samsung Note Pro 12.2 for £325 with higher specs sounds pretty good as well as being able to annotate what I read. Dilemma Dilemma...
