Great price, can't find it cheaper.

Could someone enlighten me, what is the difference between jelly bean and kit kat? And who on earth dreamt up such names!

Each Android release is alphabetical from C up to K, so Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb (tablet only), Ice Cream Sandwich, Jellybean, Kitkat. Next one is Android L, although that name will probably change.

For another £20 I'd probably opt for the Hudl 2 (I don't own either btw).

Hudl runs latest KitKat, has a better screen (slightly larger and better resolution) and has twice the RAM and a faster CPU and also comes with a lot of vouchers for savings.

This is still a good price for a tablet though so heat added.

What's this like compared to the Acer 7.9" (A1-810) currently on offer at Tesco for £79?

Lollipop

Well worth the money IMO. Paid £199 only 3 weeks ago if that, so yes i'm gutted its dropped in price. A steal at this price. Can't recommend it enough.

Kit Kat was the first release to have a brand name because Nestle paid Google for the privilege. I can imagine L will follow a similar naming process.

That's just typical. I hate it when that happens. It's good to see someone who has this recommending it so highly though. The Yoga 2 is out now for the price you paid for this and the specs on that are quite a bit better than this.

It might be worth getting in touch with Argos and seeing if they will give you the difference back or even just a gesture as goodwill? I am sure I heard that another retailer (Tesco possibly) does something similar if the price drops within 28 days........

I have the 10 inch version and they all have OTA updates to Kit Kat, so this is a non-issue. Brilliant piece of kit with great sound from the speakers and a fantastic battery life. can't recommend it enough. Forget about the screen resolution complaints- it's as good as you need.

Can you comment on the battery life please Dave? Which is stated as lasting a rather incredible - up to 18 hours!

If it had an HDMI port it would be a bargain, but without then no thanks......I get my 9" ACER for a similar price & it has Mini HDMI as well

After the last Nestle deal maybe LionBar

I like the sound of Lion Bar... It might even get 2 appearances as we always called them Rar Bars back in the 80's!

Does the stand fold right back on itself so it doesn't get in the way when you are holding it?

Excellent!!!! Even on standby it uses very very little. Love it to be honest. Just wished i'd hung on a bit longer. As its dropped it price plus you get a tenner voucher!! Oh well!

Mind you... Apple may well spit their dummies out again with Lion Bar having their word Lion in the title, so Rar Bar it is!

Do I have the right to sue Google if that should be the case?

It does and is very useful when its needed.

To be truthfully honest I have noticed after a short while the screen does go to a yellow colour. Not sure if this is meant to happen but I have got use to that happening. Not so sure if I should return it stating this fact and get a refund. I then could go and buy it again at this bargain price. But knowing my luck and knowing how Argos can be tough on returns like this I'd probably wouldn't have much luck in getting the money back

I'd give it a go. Argos have usually been ok with me with returns. You could do that and buy it again at the reduced price or you could purchase the Yoga 2 for the same price. If you don't try, you'll never know. You've only had it 3 weeks too and if the screen is going a yellow colour after a short time, that is not right and I can't see how they can say it's not faulty?

Assuming you've checked screen settings etc?

Thank you OP, reserved for my wife's b'day present.

Yes I have checked the screen settings but I have kinda left them as they came out of the box to be honest. Its really strange how it happens. It'll be a lovely bright white screen and then after a few moments you can see it switch to a yellow tinge. I might try like you say they can only say no. It could also in my eyes be classed as a fault.

If that is how the fault happens and the change is as noticeable as that I fail to see how they can argue really. If they did, I'd argue back stating your statutory rights.

Would be good but apparently you can't get Netflix in HD unless you got kitkat...

I have got the 10 lenovo yoga, that I got from costco with the lenovo cash back for arround £150. the yoga is a great bit of kit very good battery life the kick stand works well and lastly the processor and screen look and feel good, I moved up from a samsung tab 2 7.0 and this feels quality build and not plastic like the tab2

Sorry mate that link isn't working for me. I just wanted to have a quick read.

Is the battery life really as good as it says ?

I like the front facing speakers, would make a great video player.

I got the lg pad a few minths ago (Tesco deal on here) this seems to score slightly behind in most areas, but ahead in the above two, tempted

I'm guessing it's been blocked. It was just from Which. Or any search for - faulty goods and statutory rights uk, or the like will give you some info.

To be truthfully honest I have noticed after a short while the screen does go to a yellow colour.

Oh dear, oh dear. THE TABLET HAS THREE SCREEN DISPLAY MODES (affecting screen brightness & temperature (ie colour) - equivalent to each position of the stand - HOLD (in either hand by the way) STAND or TILT. Go and see the Lenovo video .....

With the stand out and the tablet laying relatively flat in landscape mode it is ideal for typing - SO THE SCREEN MODE AUOMATICALLY REDUCES THE BRIGHTNESS AND TINTS THE SCREEN TO THE 'YELLOW' MODE - to make it easier on the eyes - less glarey. Likewise adjusts automatically for holding and stand modes. It'll never get it correct 100% of the time though!

I think all the 'poor screen' reviewers at Amazon have fallen for this - including the PC Pro (?) One. The default out the box with my 2 - yes I went back and bought the 3G version (while on the now ended 20% VAT cashback btw) - as it is so handy - is in the low brightness and contrast Tilt mode. So looked awful with my images ......

If I remember correctly you can with a pop out screen, and toggle through or set each of the 3 modes very easily. Also see 'Sound & Visuals' in settings - and there's a wee red i icon (info??) top bar left hand side to remind you. (sorry I've customised my tablets with a new launcher so looks different than to as supplied out the box)

As I always mess about with my imported images from the card - I've just set mine to the 'clearest' mode and adjusted the brightness - it's got 4 levels or auto, depending on ambient light, via Display in settings, manually. The tablet's camera's are not the best - but adequate.

In this price range the screen resolution is fine at 1280x 800 is good and more than ample and I have 1000's of digicam photos on a 128mB micro SD card (yes it does work) in the tablet so take it from me I'd notice. If you want to waste more than double the money for the kids just to drop it, on a well known alternate - just go ahead. Build quality is very good. Stand is metal for weight and feels nice and balance in the hand (hold mode) Battery life is indeed good.Everyone one that sees it is impressed. Do you really need the latest, fastest, sharpest and so more expensive models? Save your money and get another one next year

Very handy pre installed Apps ie ES file Explorer and Kingston Office, etc - without going overboard like Samsung's with their TouchWiz. The only p.i.t.a I can't seem to get rid off is Norton :-( - but it is disabled. (For the geeks: havent been able to root it without some dodgy Chinese program called vroot - and weird additional drivers, but rapidily coming to the conclusion, why bloody bother ....)

Get a microSD with that Argos Gift voucher = sorted.

Simply a bargain.

Are you sure that the screen is not on "auto"? It starts up bright and will then dim according to the background lighting. Mine was being a pain with me yesterday morning when i was looking at emails (usually only use it in the evenings when the lights are on).
