Code to be used is RENTREE12 and gives 12% off a selection of laptops.

Price is under assumption of using Halifax Clarity or other credit cards which don't charge currency conversion fees. If you use Amazon currency converter it costs cca 260£.

Note: I posted this very laptop as a deal a couple of days ago, but have decided to repost due to further price reduction and availability now instead of in 2-4 weeks, also I wanted to draw attention of people who have bought it as they can most likely get the difference refunded. (by contacting amazon (you can write in English using email)). (link to the old thread with some useful comments will be in first comment)

I thought it is a cracking deal without discount but like this it is pretty much awesome, if I was in the market for a laptop I would be all over it, it ticks all the boxes important for me and in my opinion to a large number of users.

I think I have never seen a decent 1080p+i3 for around 250£ deal. I would advise on replacing that hard drive with an ssd and using the 1TB as external hard disk for media.

I have helped set up this very pc for a friend couple of months ago and it seems a very nice machine, I have put in an ssd for him and the machine flies, as reviews will tell you it is not a great 1080p screen (as it is not ips unfortunately) but for me it was way better than my current 768p.

Another possibly bad thing is French keyboard, if this bothers you a lot you can get a UK one for 18£ from eBay and replace it (it is very easy...), link in first comment.

It comes with Windows 8.1 and you can use the current windows 10 upgrade thing to get rid of Lenovo's bloatware (although I believe this specific machine might not even be affected) simply upgrade to windows 10 as soon as you get it and don't keep your programs and files (this should remove all Lenovo stuff...).

Hope it helps someone.

Excellent find . I applied for a Halifax Clarity card on seeing your original post . I'm glad it hasn't arrived it , I can now go for this deal . Thanks

Outstanding x

Is the keyboard backlit

I was going to post this too as I got an email with the code.

Good deal imo!

If you have the supercard by Travelex, I think you can use that too?

Unfortunately no, for some reason, that escapes me, it is considered a premium feature even more than 1080p...

anybody know the fee using a standard Halifax reward card!

Would replacing the keyboard void warrenty? Heat

Check how easy it is to change keyboard, on my T440s it's really simple but on my wifes x240 it's a complete teardown.

Looking at Halifax's website it's 2.75% + £1.50 - I'm assuming the Reward card is a debit card?

Does anyone know if there will be any import duties/taxes to pay?

There's a Youtube vid showing how. Seems it's a few screws, a couple of clips and a single ribbon cable. Looks dead simple. The HDD swap is even easier, with just a few screws and then slide the hole of the bottom panel of the laptop off to get access to RAM and HDD. I've placed and order based on how easy it will be to replace the keyboard and HDD for an SSD. I also ordered from the info from the previous thread but Amazon have agreed to refund the 12% discount once the product ships.

Thanks, ordered keyboard too. Shame no backlit keyboard.

Set the keyboard language to UK. Or just set it to UK and type as normal without changing the keyboard... OK if you know where the keys are!

yes

Surely the replacement of a keyboard will be deemed a customer replaceable unit given how easy it is to change it? Therefore, it would not, as I understand it, invalidate the warranty.

Obviously cannot guarantee anything...

Must resist!

I know dell allows replacing keyboard on your own. Not sure about Lenovo, should be the same?

Argoj

yes

Thanks for info. Was tempted to buy not so sure now..

If you have Halifax clarity it will cost £251.29 (EUR 358.46) including delivery

Anything like this but in 13" flavor and I'm in!

How easy is the keyboard change though?

edit: nm, saw previous comment & video.. too complicated for me

I would have liked this but it's slightly bigger than 13.3!

if only it had 5th gen i3 , that nice res display needs some extra gpu power

Put the other keyboard back in if you're required to claim.

Do you know if I can ask to upgrade the RAM, before buy it, to the seller? thanks

Ermmm tempting

breaking the seals on a laptop will void the warranty and they will be able to tell you've been in

Another huge difference is that g edition are not 1080p which is THE reason this laptop is a deal. (you can find 768p laptops of this spec for this money but even that is a deal, 1080p, and decent other specs for 250£ I have never seen before).

For people worried about voiding the warranty, as I said I set up this laptop for a friend and installed him am ssd, there was no warranty void sticker for getting to the hard disk, other than software based I really can't see how they could tell if you replaced a hard disk (and say then replaced it back if there was a problem...).

Also for one year you can talk to Amazon for warranty purposes and I am sure they won't complain about user replaceable bits (as long as you keep the original ones), you would simply have to wait a bit longer to get it fixed.

All in all I strongly believe there should be no warranty issues.

I agree that replacing the keyboard is very easy, just look at the YouTube video (hdd replacement is even easier).
