Decent spec laptop with a massive THREE YEAR WARRANTY.

I've not seen this spec with that warranty for anyone near this money.

Quad core Processor (AMD A10)
16GB RAM
1TB HDD

it actually looks like very decent deal
sadly the screen is not full HD
If only it came with W/7 retrofitted, otherwise an excellent machine for the money
Has potential to be a superb deal. Anybody managed to find a manufacurer model number / EAN ?
I see we have the usual daft comment about screen resolution.
When will these people learn you are NOT going to get full hd 1920x1080 for under £500.

Interesting deal but I`m waiting `til next Monday when this one will be back in stock.
Latest 6th gen Intel i6 processor, latest windows 10, two year warranty, 8gb memory, 1TB storage, same price £379.

Worth it got the 3yr warranty alone. My daughters HP Pavilion laptop failed after 14 months with its rubbish1 year warranty from Cirrus so just bought a similar Lenovo from JL with 2 year warranty. Not pretty machines but looks like the disk/RAM/keyboard will be much easier to get to in case of issues down the line too.

Not wishing to be argumentative but FHD under £500 is easily achieveable (example Lenovo Z51 i7 @ JL). There's a reasonable possibility that the OP item may also be available with FHD as an option, although we have no model numbers to check, yet.

There's also more screen real estate available so you can fit more on your screen; this would also include websites.

Anyway, it's of course possible to find FHD screens at this price point, just look at all the deals that have been up over Christmas and New Years for examples!
My Z50 has 1080p, and was under £500...
excellent deal....if I needed a laptop would definitely go for this
why the hell arent laptop manufacturers putting full hd screens on these things...

If you are using it for development (or any work really) full HD is definitely a big benefit (more readable text on the screen at once)
This looks like a good deal to me. Compared to the HP one linked in the comment which would you say is better?
Does anyone know of any decent laptops in the £250 range? Mainly for iTunes and a bit of retro gaming.

Hasn't this one got much better graphics?

Can anyone find the cpu benchmark for it?

Plus re-sale value in say 3 years time , 1920 will be the norm , the lower res will seem a bit retro...
is this DDR3 Ram does anyone know?
The pictures for this laptop on the JL website are misleading. Some pictures show a numeric keypad on the right, and some don't.

It's a bit harsh to say it's daft. It's a feature many people obviously desire, but either the laptop makers aren't realising there is the demand for it or demand isn't yet sufficient to warrant it in this segment.

Full HD is entirely possible in the sub £500 segment. There are Chromebooks with full HD below £300. But while most people are swayed by useless big numbers like 'quad core' '16gb ram' & '1tb storage' then laptop makers will throw those cheap number grabbing components in their machines. Being vocal and letting it be known there is demand for full HD even on a cheap laptop is the only way it will be realised. So again, a bit harsh to say it's daft. There may not be any available, but economically there could be.

Personally I'd sooner have a dual core inel with 8gb ram and any SSD than this 'quad' core with way more ram than anyone happy at this screen resolution knows what to do with and a magnetic storage drive.
If only it had SSD instead

Yes. All AMD stuff is DDR3 right now.

Maybe I should change it to under £495-95p then.

Hardly "easily achievable" though.;)
To me the linked deal in post #5 is a far better laptop than this one.
They`re the same price but you`re getting the latest 6th Gen i 5 core processor and win10 installed along with 8gb ram which is enough anything over won`t make much difference and 1tb of storage.

The Lenovo is old stock win8 (i know you can upgrade but potential hassle) old processor AMD.
The three year warranty is about the only good thing which you`ll probably need.
The HP has a two year anyway.
Back in stock next Monday.

It`s just disappointing that whenever someone puts a half decent deal on these boards we get immediately diverted from the deal by the same old parrot-like blurb "it`s not FHD".
It distracts from the deal and as I pointed out before you don`t expect to see FHD for less than £499-95p.

If the above deal had FHD it wouldn`t be £379 and if it was the moaners would start on something esle such as not got SSD.
Comment on the deal at face value not what it isn`t!

Which one was that? Wonder how much the equivalent is today.
Better check out the screen of the acutal laptop to see if you like it or not.

some models of Z50 and Z51 are FHD. Even with FHD, their screens are bad, not only TN panel, but actually a bad TN panel.

Z50 has been on sales this year so many times this year. It would be worthwhile to check out the comments of those people who bought it. There are quite some problems.

The cheapest it has been was i3, FHD, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD version with French keyboard was £250.

You should hold off, you will get it cheaper, especially this one does not even comes with FHD, only the 16GB RAM seems high. RAM is not expensive nowadays and also if you actually need 16GB.

You could get i5 Probook for £300.
or Probook with better A10 and dedicated graphic card for £340.
They are good quality business laptops.
They do not come with FHD, normal HD TN panel Matte screens, but still better than HD screen of budget consumer laptops at this price range.

For me, Z50, this price for this specifications, cold.
