Hot but shame its not touch screen

Every time this comment comes up. It just isn't going to happen for this price yet. Very tempted by this.

The sreen resolution is disappointing, but it's still a good deal.

Anyone know if it is Wi-di certified?

I don't understand what the draw is from touchscreen laptops :-P. I try and avoid touching the screen of my laptop at all costs because I don't want it to get finger marks all over it. The idea of having a laptop which encourages you to touch the screen seems gimmicky at best and at worst its something which is just gonna make the product worse when you can't use it without constantly feeling the need to clean marks off it every two seconds.

Why the hell would you want a touch screen!? The future is sweaty finger marks all over your LCD screen and a really horrible UX.

The laptop sounds pretty good although I am not sure that Lenovo have good hardware or support.

Are Amazon likely to match this?

Screen resolution is fine, small screen so that's all it needs, if it was 1080p then it would also run slower as it'd have to fix more pixels in the same area

Guess they put the wrong photo on it... if you enlarge the photo it does say "Z500 Touch" on the bottom left of the screen!

Edit: it's definitely not touch though, searched the manufacturer ID and it's for sale here too, with the correct pictures

Why pay more for something you'd hardly use and isn't needed on a laptop.

GT 635 and the Resolution really poor in this price.

Note that this is last gen Intel Ivy Bridge not the current gen Haswell.
Performance wise it doesn't matter too much but Haswell laptops generally have 1-2 hours better battery life.

Couldn't agree more. If you want a touchscreen experience, just buy a tablet.

It is, on the basis all Intel i processors are (possibly since 2nd gen)

Whats the big deal with touch screens? First of all it will never catch up, it's just another flop like 3D TVs and besides, I'd think a laptop without a touchscreen is a BONUS, since touch displays are more expensive to manufacture & even more expensive to repair, hence why you will not get a long period of warranty coverage. If anyone wants a touch experience get a tablet -_-

How would this do playing BF3/Skyrim?
My friend asked me to look around for a decent laptop for around £500, and although I've nagged him saying "build a PC/ get a PS4", he just doesn't understand how computers work really.

According to the specs, it should play most games on high settings, but I dont have experience with Lenovo products and their customer service. Oh btw as a safety measure, tell your friend to use these whenever he's playing on a laptop:

I thought the wireless card and video adapter mattered, too?

good luck with your returns

Good deal but I'll wait for my Sony Vaio from the other deal

It's £35 over this deal but I got:
* 4th gen i5 with HD 4400 graphics <-- low voltage
* Nvidia 740m
* Full HD screen
* 8GB DDR3L RAM <-- low voltage
* 320GB HDD <-- I'll change this to 1TB SSHD
* Subwoofer
* Blu ray writer
* NFC
* 2 x USB 3.0
* Backlit keyboard

If that doesn't come through I might go for this deal instead. Heat added

not trying to shatter your dreams but Vaio series is known for its massive heat output and bad cooling system D:

Are Amazon likely to match this?

Bookmarked the Amazon site and checked every half hour.
Nothing all day, but just now, I believe they are matching eBuyer at £549 currently.

Quick if interested. Not many available

My son got the touchscreen version of this for his work (web design), loves it. Its quick, the touchscreen works well and from what I can see it works well with Win8. Not particularly light, but the power it has in a laptop for the money is good imo.

Also, for £550, it should at least come with more than one USB 3.0 port, in my honest opinion.

Unless you need a bluray drive. Or e-sata. Or FireWire. Or widi. Or touchscreen. Or an ssd. Apart from that you're bang on.

Very interested in this... wish it had an SSD though..

Is this worth the £50 extra?

johnlewis.com/len…062

It only has integrated graphics (so no good if you want to play games), but has the new Haswell i7 quad core CPU and 3yr warranty.

I once had a Vaio. the cooling fan needed replacing, it should have cost five to ten to replace, but Sony wouldn't sell me the fan, and insisted I would have to send it in for evaluation for 150+ and then would charge me for the "repair" on top. I wasn't able to find a third party compatible product.

So I'll never buy another Sony computer product.

Looks like a decent deal, though there's a Z510 at the same price: very.co.uk/len…e,1
The Z510 has a slightly better graphics card (740M) and supposedly higher res (1920 x 1080).
