Leon is the controversial and unforgettable story of an unlikely friendship within a brutal and violent world. Twelve-year-old Mathilda lives within the desperate confines of a squalid New York apartment block. On returning from a shopping trip Mathilda finds that her abusive, dysfunctional family (and her beloved younger brother) have been slaughtered by a psychotic, drug dealing police officer.

In fear of her life she takes refuge with her reluctant, mysterious and solitary neighbour. His name is Leon and he's one of the world's deadliest assassins. And while Mathilda begins to teach him how to live, Leon begins to teach her how to kill.

Includes both the Theatrical Version and the Director's Cut.

Are you Gary Glitter by any chance?
I'm guessing you like your scotch, the same way you like your women: aged 12 years
not the wisest comment i've heard on here hardwan
Not sure if the director's cut is the 26 minutes longer version normally called the international cut.
Great film even better with the extra 26 minutes version.
Been a good chunk of years since I've seen this film but just now realised that the young female actress was Natalie Portman. That's pretty cool of a 'fun fact'.

Heat.
one the best action movies around

Yeah.....

Spelling Portman like that....oO
I already have the German release Director's cut DVD and the UK release Bluray. I really shouldn't buy this, but I have. Absolutely love this movie. Gary Oldman's best performance to date.

Can't help but wonder how Luc Besson can produce a masterpiece like this and then Lucy.

tbf many people would be (or have been) the same age watching it

This film is simply outstanding, Gary Oldman is incredible as is the storyline and so many levels to how you can watch it.
Quite a few other films... eg Avatar Steelbook is £7.19 with the code which includes DVD.

Heat added.
It is a great movie. The slightly creepy views some people have of this movie are down right incorrect. The relationship between the two of them is pretty sweet really.
Leon is a good man who's completely a Lone (anagram of Leon).
The girl needs protecting and love (after what happens very early on), Leon only provides protection, but she, at moments, sees him as providing love too. He is incapable of such feelings.

Anyhow that's my breakdown of it. Bloody good movie.

if you think it's sweet don't watch the directors cut mate - that cuts out a lot of ambiguity (bearing in mind it is a french movie)

good price though, hate zavvi but been looking out for a deal on a 'definitive' edition of this movie as it is great.

Love this film, picked it up on DVD 20+ years ago, I'm not sure what version it is I've got. Back then I was proper nerdy with DVD's and would pickup, un-cut / non rated films
Leon is one of my all time favourites. I watched Tomorrowland a few days ago, easily the outstanding performance was a 12yr old girl called called Raffey Cassidy. It made me think of Natalie Portman's impact in Leon, but Leon also had a fantastic performance by Jean Reno, my favourite screen actor of those days. For me, 'The Big Blue' and 'Leon' had Luc Besson and Jean Reno at their very best...

Recently some cut scenes from the original script were released, and those creepy feelings people got from the movie about their relationship were indeed founded, as one of the scenes that was cut was indeed a sex scene between Leon and Mathilda, it was Portman's parents who stepped in over this and other things in the script, so Bessons had to make changes to the script.

Good movie with some cracking performances, but now we know just why we get that creepy uncomfortable vibe from this movie.

20 YEARS?!?! oO Wow, feeling old!
Fantastic movie https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/01/b3/05/01b305adc4356b8a5f1fb09ed9775d02.jpg
Really excellent film and while I try and live a minimalist life (pah!) and now only buy the kids their DVDs, bearing in mind this is never on TV, Sky or Netflix (for some reason), very tempted to get this. And if anyone feels old about this film, I saw Sid and Nancy again a couple of weeks ago, and watched Tinker Tailor last night - how can Gary Oldman now be this old man?!

Don't watch Leon: The Professional then. It's not what I'd call sweet.
Thanks op. One of my top three of all time. Just ordered.

One word .... drugs!
Was hoping for the Dolby Atmos version, but doesn't look like this is, unless anyone knows otherwise?
saw it once thought the acting and story were poor.
From a customer review:

'The steelbook artwork is simple and some might say plain. The back could also have better artwork on, but it definitely reflects the movie perfectly. Blu ray includes both theatrical and extended versions of the film which gives the viewer something extra.'
Awesome film, don't get the whole steel book fuss though.
I can watch the final scene over and over again between Reno & Oldman. Oldmans best performance ever.
