They'll be remaking it with Justin Bieber. Mark my words.

As the girl......
I like these calm little moments before the storm. It reminds me of Beethoven. Heat added, Cheers OP

Nice one sfyfe; one of the best films ever made; just superb
Wicked film. I even used one of the recent 50% off a film offers from Google Play to ensure I had this on digital as well.
Same price on Amazon.

There is a sinister undertone to this film that doesn’t sit right with me. Will not watch again

I know what you mean. The 'implication' as she gets out of his bed!

There was quite a bit of editing involved to make it less sinister
Awesome movie heat added.

I’ll be watching this today at my desk whilst pretending to be working
One of the best hit-man films ever made with great performances from all. IMO the director's cut is worse because of more emphasis on the "relationship" between Leon and Matilda. The theatrical cut made it seem more like Matilda was infatuated and her feelings were not reciprocated and Leon was shown in a more paternal way.
“Stop saying OK, OK?”

...”OK”

Great film from start to finish

i disagree. i felt the extra parts added more to the story and made the ending make more sense (I can clean!)
This film has hit legendary status based on a bandwagon mentality , its a great movie in many ways but its not the absolute classic that people make it out to be. As for the directors cut, it is just wrong on so many levels.
Has it upscaled to 4k?

Has it upscaled to 4k?

It has in the US but it is apperantly unlikely in the UK due to the studio that has the rights.
Classic film and this is the definite version.

Best film ever.

Its good but not the best film ever, has a lot of flaws in it.

Ok snowflake

Anybody who uses the words snowflake automatically loses their point. However, I agree. If anyone sees anything sinister in their relationship needs to take a look at themselves rather than criticise the film. For example, when Laurel and Hardy were in bed together, did you automatically assume a homosexual undertone? Of course not.
Good price, one of my favourite films......heat!

I agree aswell, the chemical connection between them was a little Lolita-esque but his dumbed down demeanor only helped to cement that paternal bond. Incredible movie from the start to finish, highs, lows, euphoria, disaster. Wow. The acting gives goosebumps. I think I will watch it again this week.

No, mainly because laurel and hardy did not intend this, Matilda asked Leon for sex, she confessed her love for him many times, she danced for him whilst dressed as Marilyn Monroe and Madonna singing like a virgin, he did nothing to discourage any of this. At the end of the movie he confesses his love for the 12 year old Matilda. How can you not see something sinister in the way the director wanted to portray this relationship?

The difference with your example is that homosexuality is normal and legal, Paedophilia most certainly is not.

I must confess, I need to watch this again as saw once when it came out on dvd.
I never thought about their relationship in those terms while watching but history has happened since then and I may see it differently now.

To clarify, I did not see Leon's intentions as sinister.

When I watched It, it seemed to me that Leon told her that he loved here in that way in order to get her to save herself.

Also, peadophiles usually like prepubescents not teens. Matilda was intentionally written as straddling the line between childhood and adulthood. The audience are made to feel as awkward about her portrayal as Leon presumably did.

A relationship between a young teen an adult still wouldn't be acceptable obviously (neither would training a child to become a hitman, but the violent parallel goes unremarked in favour of the sexual), but there isn't one.
Any other cheap iTunes movies floating around? I get my apple tv tomorrow so on the hunt 😁
One of the best performance from Gary Oldman.
Also, Natalie Portman (her first movie) was very good, and became a great actress.

One of the best movies of all times, as agreed on IMDB by many people.
Some people may disagree, but then a movie can't please "everyone!!!"

Yes, she loves Leon, but he loves her in a non-sexual way (director cut or standard version), so I am not sure what people are complaining about. The PC police should complain more about her little brother being killed by a corrupt DEA agent.

Watch Nikita (previous movie from director Luc Besson), which is also very good, and also features "Leon" shortly. I am not taking about the appalling US remake.
Unfortunaly, Luc Besson lost his magic touch after those 2 movies. He needs to focus back on scenarios and acting, rather than big production with lots of special effects.
