Purchased this TV box a month ago, second lightening deal opportunity.

Some opinionated people may believe 1GB is low ram, however post testing, KODI has been working fantastic with this box. If you are looking for a cheap Android box to install KODI for streaming this is your cheapest (non-chinese vendor) option.

Most importantly **Kodi Ready / Compatible **

Will setup in a second room as we currently own Android box already in our main room.

1gb not great

Hmm just read that it's worth to get 2gb in a long run. Much improved performance

2gb is a must. And subscribe
To real debrid

sorry but ditto for the RAM, worth paying for 2GB

Could I access via USB my 2tb hard drive to view films when there's no internet connection ( on caravan hol)?

Get the 2gb ram so much better

i use 128gb USB in motorhome,
about £16-£18 from my memory.

l've heard good things about TV boxes but am yet to purchase due a lack of knowledge. I would want to do what most poeople do, but may not be able to admit to? Am I right in saying you can add apps and watch recent movies or live sport? By comments in here it sounds like you can download, not just stream? Do they require lots of updates with sites/apps getting blocked? Are they lots of hassle for a coach potatoe who just wants to press a few buttons on a remote and watch a recent movie? What is a good model to go for if 1gb is not recommended? Lots of questions sorry, don't expect all the answers, if there's any websites that explain this would appreciate a link

Android tv boxes usually auto update. The 1 or 2 gb argument is heavily biased towards 2 gb, with good reason. BUT, don't be put off by this, if you have a good fast internet connection 1gb is ok. Yes, 2GB is better, but 1GB is ok if you have everything working well. No doubt this comment will be rubbished by some, but I stand by it.

Deal over - all claimed.

Anyone tried gamecube emulation on an android box?

read the comment in the description re 1gb...

Poor deal, ok it's from the UK, but my newer A95X (S905X, 2GB Ram, 16GB storage) for £26 from gearbest.

The 1GB ram isn't an issue just for kodi but make sure you use LibreElec instead (with a decent microSD like the Samsung Evo or Evo+ [plus]), if runs much better. Booted to the Kodi main screen it only use 110mb ram vs about 500-600mb on Android before you've even started playing anything.

Yes, don't bother... On 8 or 16 bit games work well, 32 and 64 bit games work but run like a slides how....

Usually the builds that come on fully loaded boxes are rubbish with loads of dead links/add-ons etc. I used run a fire stick but now use Amazon fire tv box but have done a fair few Android boxes. You are best having a go yourself, it's quite easy. I've tried loads of different builds on Kodi and spmc and by far the best bar none is the paradox build. You just have register with blackboxostv to install a build. Add-ons update auto but paradox update their own build every 2 weeks to keep things tip top. Also easy to do and full instructions on their paradox info site. With this you get world tv, tv shows, movies, sports, kids, music... Like every now album currently from 1 to 95!. And now compilations. Instead just getting music will play the music video. The sport can be a bit hit n miss but you can get premium sports add-ons like sports mania or sports nation hd, think £26 for 6 months! On here you will get all hd sports from around the globe but every single 3 pm premier league game. Once you get into paradox you will never go back! All you will ever need, only thing I would say is boxes are always best cabled to router so you get fastest connection, can watch more full hd 1080p content with no buffering, fire sticks will buffer on Wi-Fi so better off choosing a sd stream. Some builds like pulse are good but too big in mb size so can make sticks lag, and they don't update build often so loads things stop working. Also too much going on on the screen. Highly recommend paradox.

By the way you can try out Kodi on your laptop first to get a feel of it. Plenty of guides to put a build on it on YouTube. If got smart tv then you can cast screen or plug into tv HDMI from laptop HDMI out

Do you think Paradox is better than the beast?

anthonynsinclair

Do you think Paradox is better than the beast?

Absolutely! Without a shadow of a doubt. When I got my first stick the beast build is what I used, I did used to like it but it will slow firesticks down. The guy who makes the beast build makes it for a laptop/pc so is bigger in size. It looks impressive with ever changing backgrounds etc but not everything works on it. I found stick crashed or froze out all the time, forever clearing the cache. I have a fast Amazon 4k box now so would handle it better I suppose. With paradox you don't have to use ares wizard. You can just add source paradwizard.co.uk/repo then install build as long as you register an account with blackboxostv then sorted. Basically all registering is for is so that you can't buy 100 boxes and put their build on it, then sell them, you get 5 downloads of paradox which resets on every new build every 2 weeks roughly. But also on paradox build it has its own apk installer section so you can install things like SPMC, KODI 17 (I still use Kodi 16.1 though at mo as not all add-ons compatible yet) UKTVNOW, appstarter, mobdro, cartoon hd, aptoide tv, clean master, newest movies hd, plus loads more, great for Amazon devices as you can't get these from their own store so using paradox apk installer it bypasses this and forces them on.

Thanks for the info, will check out paradox

I forgot to mention... You may already know but spmc is exactly the same as Kodi so if you have a good box (wouldn't recommend with fire stick) then you can have 2 different builds. If you install Kodi and spmc you can use the beast one on and paradox or whatever on the other. Paradox pick the best working add-ons, if your favorite isn't on the build then you can simply go to system add-ons, get more, find your add-on and install it. You can add anything into the favorites star on home page for quick access. If any add-on stops working then the new released build will swap it out.

For £23 its a good deal if you just want a box to dip your toes in, but I would consider a higher spec for a future purchase.

Oh and I hate the "Fully Loaded" BS, shouting about all the "free movies/sports" is simply bringing too much attention and will eventually destroy the market for these boxes. Any Android device can run the apps you want including Kodi. If you want to put on add-ons to run whichever stream you want that's up to you and there are plenty of websites to help in this regard.

Thanks again for the info, I've only ever used the Beast as it was recommended but it is quite heavy and some plugins bug out every now and again so will try out paradox. I heard Kodi may phase out amlogic amcodec ? Which would mean some hardware will fail to render. Not sure the implications yet of the older boxes but I guess SPMC will work as normal

Yes no one knows the future, Kodi may do that. Isp's may introduce a total blackout. The area is a little grey with certain content. Streaming is better than actually having a physical copy downloaded. Least with Amazon hardware you have got prime. Sticks are great for hotels as long as good Wi-Fi and HDMI socket on tv in room. If you have good phone internet and high data you can tether stick to phone. Watch whatever. Some hotels do deactivate HDMI input but this can be reactivated. Can get remote codes off Google.

Says supporta video calling via MSN ?? That stopped working years ago did it not ?

Can you link me to this product?

I use Kodi on my Amazon Fire stick and I also use a similar app for movies and television called Showbox. I don't know what the laws are different here in the United States compared to the UK but every time I download a movie I get notified by my WiFi carrier that I just violated copyright infringement and they threatened to disconnect my WiFi but when I stream I never have a problem. And that's when I use both of those apps that I stated above.

Keep in mind that buying the box is legal but using it to watch movies or tv shows (both of which use copyrighted material) is illegal. Seems like you are buying an expensive paperweight.

Last time I looked it wasn't illegal to stream? Possibly immoral, depending on your outlook, but not actually illegal.

Unless it's authorized by the creator, it's illegal. Go ahead though if you don't mind risking legal consequences.

Yes, I don't understand the cold voting at all - it's not a hot price but can't see why it scored so low.

I find the 1GB 8GB perfectly acceptable - I'm just trying to find a deal on a unit for a pal of mine, this should do the trick.
