A fragile, anxious boy, 12-year-old Oskar is regularly bullied by his stronger classmates but never strikes back. The lonely boy's wish for a friend seems to come true when he meets Eli, also 12, who moves in next door to him with her father. A pale, serious young girl, she only comes out at night and doesn't seem affected by the freezing temperatures.Coinciding with Eli's arrival is a series of inexplicable disappearances and murders. One man is found tied to a tree, another frozen in the lake, a woman bitten in the neck. Blood seems to be the common denominator--and for an introverted boy like Oskar, who is fascinated by gruesome stories, it doesn't take long before he figures out that Eli is a vampire. But by now a subtle romance has blossomed between Oskar and Eli, and she gives him the strength to fight back against his aggressors. Oskar becomes increasingly aware of the tragic, inhuman dimension of Eli's plight, but cannot bring himself to forsake her. Frozen forever in a twelve-year-old's body, with all the burgeoning feelings and confused emotions of a young adolescent, Eli knows that she can only continue to live if she keeps on moving. But when Oskar faces his darkest hour, Eli returns to defend him the only way she can.

Such a good film, cracking price too. One of my favourite films of the year.

Excellent film - well worth £11

I guess it is just me and the hubby that thought it was totally dire then! Good price though if you want to buy it!

I've not seen the film yet... read the book at it's a fab read! better than the twilight books

I'm afraid so...it's currently voted 220th best film of all time on IMDB by 37,530 people. I think you've got to be in a certain mindset to properly enjoy it, it's very character driven, and doesn't use a lot of what most cinema films use to grab audiences attention.

Great film! My partner grew up in the suburb where this was filmed - needless to say it scares the sh** out of her every time she sees it!

So there are 6.7 billion people in the world that might still agree with us two. And when Forest Gump is number 39 and Finding Nemo, The Lion King and Toy Story come higher up the list, it is hard to take the list seriously. I enjoy a lot of character driven films, particularly Spanish ones, but as far as I am concerned this film lacked the one thing that most films require to keep an audience's attention - a story!

Great Price!

Prefer the book over the movie. Sorry.

Thought the same thing about 'The Passion of The Christ'.

However, in this case...the movie was excellent. Great story, very enjoyable.

Got the DVD for £5 in Blockbuster last week - need to make a spare 2 hours but it keeps going up in my future viewing list!

The US subtitles link above is good for a laugh. Looks like 2 films - reminds me of Monty Python using a Shakespeare play subtitles for those who didn't like the film!

Separated by a common language indeed!

Stories always come secondary to characters. Let the Right One in has brilliantly realised characters, great performances (particularly from the two child leads), deep and touching dialogue, and some truly chilling scenes.

Most of the great horror films follow that formula. Horror films with lots of twists, turns, too much emphasis on story, etc, tend to be the tedious, formulaic and all-round bad ones.

Anyway, this is a good deal. Consider it bought.
