If you want the cheapest phone with a Snapdragon 820 chipset then this is it.

Similar phones with this chipset are:

Samsung S7 Edge (Some countries) ~ £379
LG V20 ~ £269
HTC 10 ~ £339
ZTE Axon 7 ~ £215.96
OnePlus 3 ~ £315
Sony Xperia XZ ~ £377

So like me if you're on a 2 yr contract and after 12 months your expensive phone breaks to pieces (no insurance) and you need a stopgap phone till your contract finishes, then I think this is ideal.

Here's the specs:

5.7 inch 2560*1440 Pixel 2K screen 515ppi density!!

CPU: Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, quad-core, 2.15GHz, 64bit, GPU Adreno 530

eUI 5.8 (Base on Android 6.0 OS) , 4GB LPDDR4 RAM + 32GB ROM UFS 2.0

Dual Nano SIM card dual standby

Dual cameras, front camera 8.0MP; back camera 21.0MP 6P lens F2.0 with flashlight and auto focus

Metal unibody,3100 mAh battery with fast charge

Support FDD LTE/4G/3G/GPS/Wifi/Bluetooth/Miracast/OTG/Touch ID/Type-C

Networking:2G: GSM B2/B3/B5/B8; CDMA (BC0 / BC1)

3G: WCDMA B1/B2/B5/B8; TD-SCDMA: B34/39; CDMA (BC0 / BC1)

4G: FDD-LTE: B1/B2/B3/B4/B5/B7/B8/B12/B17/B20/B25/B26, TDD-LTE:B38/B39/B40/B41

Had this phone for almost a year and it has been rock solid. I did however put a custom rom on it from day one. Took a few tries to find one that worked flawlessly and settled on Resurrection Remix OS which is now on v5.8.5.

I did same but went for lineageos 14.1

£123 for a SD820 is a steal. My One Plus 3 has the same CPU and its still a beast after a year and a half.

does this have nougat (offical?)

is the ZTE Axon 7 on Geekbuying? Can't find it. What's customs like when buying grey imports?

Lineage OS certainly provides OTA updates.

£120.28 taking this route. kimovil.com/to/…IvE.

Before anyone mentions spyware can someone quote me a single instance of a chinese company being prosecuted for alleged spyware on their devices. On the other hand you might like to look at what google ave been up to with the iphone: -dailymail.co.uk/new…tml

Running AICP Oreo befor the RR and Extended AOSP, the device has been rock solid in 15 months of ownership with no hardware defects.
I can't say the same for the much hype OP5 that I returned inside a week.
A very underated device and a very good buy at the price.

Resurrection Remix is based on Lineage OS, with heavy amount of customisation and tweaks.

I'm quite surprised ACIP developers aren't as popular and their ROM not adopted as much compared to other ROMs as I would expect, especially in reference to Samsung Note 4 Roms.

Is this the case for other phones?

For those who have got this. How is the speaker?

I had ZTE Axon 7 which is sadly kaput so need a new phone but can't afford lot of money. I loved the speaker and sound from Axon 7 and wondering what is it like with this one. I would be grateful if someone not using high end models recommend some budget phones with good sound.

Thanks.

The main speaker is fine so good for phone calls and no problem in general usage. The loud speaker is very very loud but the quality is crap, and would not recommend it for anything really.

What's the battery life and camera like on this? Also is it reliable? I'm looking for a similar phone to my Samsung galaxy s6 Edge after the stupid phone broke.

Can anyone advise if this would a worthwhile improvement on my aging LG G3?

thanks poster, just bought this! and to the person above, yes this would be abig improvement. My lg g3 was just a lag fest....

I noticed this earlier, it looking a much better deal than the X626 if you can afford the £40 extra.

No NFC and far more stupid, no 3.5mm jack.

Yes, way better in terms of raw performance, but their Android skin may not appeal (somewhat remedied with an alternative free launcher app), no NFC, camera won't be as good (but not terrible, like 90% of Chinese phones in this price-range), no 3.5mm jack, no microSD slot & fingerprint scanner doesn't work as it should with some pieces (luck of the draw here, but a custom-rom could improve things). There are positives too, don't get me wrong.

Side-by-side specs...
PC/laptop version: gsmarena.com/com…051
Mobile version: m.gsmarena.com/com…051

Lack of microSD card slot combined with 32GB is the only thing holding me back which leaves me going back to ZTE Axon 7 (hard to find under £200) or Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 (worse camera, cpu, but massive battery).

Buying with PayPal will have any fee?

I went for standard delivery which is 15-30 days. However, there are options for faster delivery of 3-4 days at additional postage cost of a few pounds extra.

Hi Peeps,

My dad needs a new phone so looking for something good but with a simple OS (he's a technophobe) and cheap (he has lost a few!).

Noticed some have downloaded a custom ROM. Is it easy to do? If the phone messes up can I restore to factory settings?

How's this compare to Redmi note 4?

Thanks in advance!

I have always had a look at AICP at some point since the OPO, they use to be quite heavy on features the way I like it ( RR )
I know some people use to say their ROMs were buggy but so too was everyone else's at times, but in the flashing game you learn to live with it to a point.

AOSP Extended( with EAS) is a very goof ROM on the Max 2 and I noticed today VALIDUS 8.0 is on the seen. I will have a look at it using multi rom

Wow thanks for that - those links you provided were great - didn't know gsmarena did a compare thing like that - the benchmarks compared at the bottom were just the thing I've been after!

But no micro SD...

Got this phone a few months ago on the whole quite impressed very good value for money.
Came with vendor rom which I updated to a newer stock firmware was going to install custom rom but I actually really like the standard one.

The battery life is not great but charges fast, the 2k screen is nice but I don't really notice that much difference between this and lower resolutions, maybe need newer eyes.
Camera is grand in good light, bad in low light.
I don't think there will be much in the way of support or OTA updates for this but I'm still really glad I bought at £134.

Can someone help me out as I normally just go for the new samsung but as all the kids are requesting phones I thought I'd try and save a few pennies:
1:Do I have to do anything when I get the phone or is it just the initial set up like any phone?
2: Will this work with EE and voda sims and get 4g?
3: will this run all the typical apps that teenagers use..eg snap chat etc?
4: does it update to newer android when they are released or will it become quickly outdated?
5: and most importantly will it be delivered before Christmas? or is it hit and miss.
Thanks for helping out s noob

1 ,2 ,3 yes.
4 no . Stuck on marshmallow unless you install a custom rom . But my teenagers don't seem to be bothered about android updates .
5 If you pay for express delivery ,yes , assuming it is in stock . But then you will be clobbered with a vat charge , sadly . But you could take a chance with free shipping , however post- singles day , black Friday ,thanksgiving and pre-Christmas , it,s a busy time of year !
