LEXAR MEDIA LEHZX8GBBSBEU 8GB PORTABLE USB STICK - £4.99 @ Comet (Reserve and Collect only)

I was after a small USB stick for use with my car stereo and this seems just the job so I thought I'd share.

The on-line system will not process home delivery options, this item can only be reserved for store collection and, for me it seems, only one item at a time.

Spiel:

As a business professional on the go, it's important that you ensure the work you do on your personal computer is secure and protected. And with a busy lifestyle, there's no time for the hassle and complexity of a traditional backup solution, and no room to carry an external hard drive and cables with you. Developed with this in mind, the Lexar Echo ZX backup drive is a high-performance, plug-and-stay drive that provides a convenient way to quickly and automatically back up and protect your files on the go. The drive is available in 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB capacities. The high-performance Lexar Echo ZX backup drive is available in a range of capacities, with higher capacities offering higher performance-allowing you to transfer data with speeds up to 28MB/s read and 15MB/s write.

Seems to be the standard price for 8GB these days. Great if you need a small USB. Personally don't trust myself with these ones, I know I'll lose it...and then it'll turn up right at the bottom of my pocket! Voted hot.
Nun near me!
Trying to put it through for home delivery but keeps throwing up an error
Home delivery gives an error for me too......Looks like a nice neat device though.

I'm getting the same error, it works for reserve and collect but only on individual items, I'll alter the title to indicate this.

Stock near me...Hot.
Just reserved in store, will be great for my new double din headunit that Father Christmas is brining me
Aren't all USB sticks portable?
ordered , good price , cheers
HOT - Just reserved the last one in my local store. cheers op

theres also this one for £6.99 - comet.co.uk/p/U…777
I know I'm gonna lose it but I couldn't resist cos I'm fed up with those standard sized ones sticking out my netbook, esp as I've had to use card slot to expand ssd.

Thanks OP.
Very good deal, voted hot but they seem to have ran out of stock!
Deal expired.
cheers reserved one for my car stereo too
sweet, thanks OP
Thanks.
Thank you reserved one.
Good price, voted hot ... as long as you're not like me. I'd lose that in about five minutes.
Great price for such a thing I wonder if those 15MB/s are reachable. But even half the speed would do.
thanks OP - hot

cheers reserved one for my car stereo too

Absolutly, saves me hitting then one in there when I put the handbrake on (Stupid Ford design!!)... Lexar one out of stock near me but the Lacie isn';t..
These stubby USBs are just the ticket for any device where you just need to put it in and forget about it. Got one in a netbook I carry about and it's the business.
Does it have a lanyard? attachment point?

Just picked up 2. Thanks.
Got the last one from Rochdale, thanks.
ordered one for stereo ....HOTTTTT ... their spec's looked quite fast also
Just a heads up, I collected what i thought was the last one my local store and it turns out they had an extra 4 in stock so i wouldnt trust the stock checker ;-)

Got last one from my store. Thanks.
I think the Lacie one comes with a lanyard
Couldn't collect, delivered only for me.

Grabbed a couple, voted hot.
I tried the delivery option the whole time as there were none available here.
and just now it finally worked
argh this would be ideal for the car. quite surprised I haven't smashed my other one off yet.

Store collection is no good though

Same here. When I'd tried to reserve a 2nd one it said none in stock but they had lots more on the shelf. So it's best to check physical stock.
Thanks OP. Will go with my new DELL XPS nicely

I collected today and they had an extra one left, so I bought that also.
They had not even put my one aside even though reserved and had trouble finding it in the store.
This seems to be how my local store operates as it's happened before.

I had similar issues while collecting. The reserve system said I had the last one in stock. Went to collect and they'd reserved the wrong item (a standard 8gb Lexar stick), however the store system showed 2 in stock. After hunting high and low the manager finally found my item in a large plastic anti-theft box, which was priced at £11.99, but scanned at £4.99. There was 2 there, but I only purchased 1. So as of yesterday afternoon there was 1 left at the Silverlink store.

Same experience in Harlow.

1 Lexar in stock at £16.99 on the shelf that scanned at £4.99 (despite stock system saying non) and took a while to find the Lacie one I reserved.

No more of either the Lexar or Lacie seem to be in Harlow as I bought both, but with that stock control system who knows..

His and Her MP3 sticks for the car...

reserved and collected - great little low profile drive for the car - cheers OP!
Picked up the last one in Nottingham Castle Meadow. Stock was showing none in stock, so Comet's stock system is not to be relied upon.

Write speed is up to 10MB/s on this size, so nothing too special. The up to 15MB/s only refers to the 16GB stick.
