32 " Smart 3D tv for under £250. I missed out on the John Lewis LG 32 tv with Magic remote and kept looking at this tv on their website which is £399.99 or should I get the 32" tv from Currys for £299.99. Saw this for £249.95 and checked PRC out on Trustpilot as not heard much about them. Hope it's ok. Thanks to Offer of the day for bringing the 42" to my attention which in turn found this. Checked Quidco and there are a few tv offers for 5% off codes and 3% cashback for PRC Direct.

They accept PayPal, so you do have some protection if things go wrong.

The LG MCI 200 means a 100hz refresh rate, don't buy this JUST because of the high refresh rate

Can someone please tell me if I should buy this TV rite now?

Those were my thoughts. I went onto trustpilot to check them out & they have more good reviews than bad. I'll let you know when I receive tv. I paid with credit card so isn't there protection with that anyway?

I have bought it as well. I am usually risk adverse to anything that seems to good to be true, but I paid by Paypal for some protection. This just seems like a blinding offer for a top of the range tv. I can't even find any other smart tv from a good brand at this price let alone 3d as well. Bargain! Can't believe there arent a million comments here.

Good price, it even has a satellite tuner even though most sites don't list this feature. I believe it actually only uses a 50Hz panel, not 100Hz but tbh it wont make much of a difference.

Instead of the Magic remote you can just use the LG phone app, I believe it does exactly the same, works with all LG smart tvs and it's free.

Great deal. I paid around 500 for a 37" version about 13 month ago. It appears not, anyway. mine doesn't have inbuild wifi for example. 37LM620T I thinks the one I got. TV's must be the most depreciative item in the household.

What Motion Clarity index means, I'll never know. That's the only difference I see tbh aside from wifi.

GF has the 42" 640V version of this.

They're pretty decent TV's (although "top of the range" may be stretching it slightly). The smart hub is really good. You also get PVR functionality. Whack a FAT32 formatted drive in one of the USB ports and use the guide to record TV. And it'll read larger files from NTFS drives as well. (But you can't use NTFS on the drive you record to)

Uses back lit LED rather than edge lit so should give a more even picture.

Main downside is the viewing angle with the passive 3D. You have to be straight on to the TV. Sit even slight above or below it and you start getting ghosting and shadowing. GF's one is wall mounted and has to be tilted down on the mount or the 3D is pretty much unusable.

At this price, it's a bargain.

Heat from me.

(She also has the magic remote. It's pretty funky!)

Yeah my 3D is ridiculous due to the wallmounting. However, football on sky 3d is perfectly acceptable. Just don't look at the crowd.

With Passive 3D you have to view it more or less straight on, if you view it off angle, especially looking at it from above or below you get lots of crosstalk.

I like LG's passive 3D, I find it better than the active on our 60F5500 Plasma and no charging glasses!

This is a smoking hot deal for a mid range LG, I just hope seeing as their 2014 range is being rolled out the 55LA620V drops to £600 - wishful thinking lol

Looks a great deal to me!

Yeh, I guess top of the rang is a bit over zealous. But then, no 32" tv is top of the range these days and this is pretty feature packed. Not a massive tv watcher so will go well in the lounge of m new house.

Yep.

I found it was more forgiving with side viewing angles, but if you're more than a degree or two off up/down then the 3D is way off.

My TV is active 3D and the passive 3D on her LG is nowhere near as good. But then, mine is a Panasonic VT65. Given their respective price points, I'd be kind of pi$$ed off if it wasn't!

As I said though, that's about the only downside I've seen to it.

Brilliant deal. Just ordered for my daughter to replace a 3D Bush TV with a terrible picture. Thanks Op

I always thought the active was better but I found some films, especially the start of resident evil retribution looked far better on a passive 42" LG than it did on the 50" PZ550 or the 60F5500 we have at home.

The glasses being cheap is also a bonus, saying that the Samsung glasses are only £12 a pair.

Worth extending the warranty or not, that is the Q?
Standard Warranty Included
3 Year Extended Warranty £97.00
5 Year Extended Warranty £149.00

any other warranty providers to consider?

Not easily.

LG dropped the official app for 2013 models apparently.

But there are 3rd party attempts you can side load I think. eg - plex.h3consulting.net/

Just google for "plex lg 2013" and you'll get a ton of info ...

The HUKD lottery is on. These things never work out for me so I am doubtful!

If you're wall mounting one of these and want to get the most out of 3D you'll probably need to buy a tilting bracket. My 2 year old 42" LG is mounted on the chimney breast (and cost £600!!), above the fire and I originally had a flush fitting bracket but the 3D was unuseable unless you stood up, so I bought a mount with tilt function and I reckon it's now probably angled about 10-15 degrees down off vertical. 3D is now perfect and can be seen from anywhere in the room, whether you're laid down, stood up or off to the side laid down.

With regards to glasses, not only are they cheap as chips but you can also get kids sizes. Mind you ours get more use at the cinema than they do at home.

Now that I think about it, it's really not worth it just for 3D that you'll hardly use. I wanted my TV nice and flush with the wall, like a picture frame. Instead it's now 2" off the wall at the bottom and about 5" at the top. So,don't bother with this, I saw a standard 32" LG tele in Sainsburys for £150 yesterday, get that instead. You'll be able to buy a smart blu-ray with the leftovers and you won't have to stop, annoying, smart ****, relatives from trying to straighten your tv up.

Oh no, it has increased! Thing is, I suppose with Quidco's voucher code it goes to £331.55 then possible 3% cashback of just under £10. Hope we don't get it cancelled. Nothing sent out yet when I just checked the account I set up with them. Oooo-er. No email yet anyway. There was a very cheap 32" Samsung Smart tv with them for £269 ish too. I wonder if that's reduced? Better expire the deal

over the years ive actually had 2 tvs off prc direct
first time nothing went wrong so no issues but second time i bought a 42" lcd (years ago i might add so might have improved a lot) , after 2 weeks i threw out the box and then the damned thing developed light bleed so it had to be returned as LG said we wont fix it its under 30 days old
contacted prc who said box it up we'll collect, oops i dont have the box anymore sorry, oh well we cant collect it then!!!
to which i was not best pleased, where do you keep a 42" box?
anyways to cut a long story short i contacted my cc firm who said its not the box thats faulty its the tv we'll handle them for you
so a delivery man dropped off a box, then another collected the boxed up tv, then another dropped off a new tv, then another collected the empty box
must have cost them a few quid when all they had to do was drop off a new tv and have the same man remove the old one in the new box, simplez
so so long as you have no issues there as good/bad as any other company but should you run into trouble they dont seem to have much common sense

Wish I'd bought from Amazon now as at least it would show the tv out for delivery already!

I have the non 3d version of this TV ... exactly same except not 3d. ... as long as you use the same wireless network as your plex media server is on then it will pick it up.

Note it shows the cover art but not the IMBD data ... you can search using genre, year, recently watched, recently added etc. Works really well.

Oh and real bargain at £237.45!!!!

My Review of Similar TV I put on Amazon (LG 39LN575V)

Purchased this TV 2 weeks ago. I did a lot of research and was going to go for the 3D version of this TV but decided to get this one instead as was an extra £100 just for 3D. This TV is excellent value for money. I would like to say I came from a old Sony CRT which was about 22 inches and weighed a ton. First thing I noticed was just how light this TV is. It weighs just over 9kg and can be handled with just one person. Gone are the days when two people are needed to lift the TV. Although saying this, if you're mounting it to a wall you do need two people.

When you turn on the TV it goes through an initial set up: such as auto tuning the TV, setting up the internet connection and accepting terms and conditions. First thing I did was to go into the smart menu (the blue button) and then updated the firmware of the TV. Mine was 3 firmwares behind. Once this was done I turned on the Sky TV. I must say standard definition looks so much clearer on this than on my old CRT. The picture has more contrast and the colours are more vibrant. I was impressed. The sound has been reviewed as being tinny ... I can say it's not that bad. We barely have had to have it over 14. Usually its on 8 or 12 depending on the source. There is not much bass from the speakers but again, it's not that bad. Maybe if you like movies a lot you may want to consider getting a sound bar or connecting it to your hifi system etc. For me, it's ok.

One thing I've used a lot and enjoy is the smart feature. This is accessed using the remote controls blue button. I highly recommend getting an LG Magic remote as it's a lot quicker and easier to use. Using the normal remote there is a slight delay between pressing the button and the screen accepting what you are asking it to do. This is about 0.4-0.6 seconds. It's no deal breaker as the functions work really well. There are youtube apps, netflix, blinkbox, BBC iPlayer, 5OD, dailymotion etc. I've only used the youtube app. When you click on it, it loads an image of LG and then the youtube icon appears. It takes about 10-20 seconds to load youtube. I've got a 60mb virgin media connection but the loading is used via the internal processor. Once loaded browsing youtube is a lot easier again if you have a magic remote or the LG app on your phone. To search for items there are letters that you scroll left and right. It can take a bit of time again when selecting the letter for it to appear in the search box. Not instant like typing on a keyboard instant ... a delay of about 0.4-0.6 seconds ... a bit more when deleting. When you search youtube the results appear at the bottom as you type and then it gives you suggestions. EG: I typed Planet and options included Planet Earth. This makes searching quicker.

Youtube plays in HD. I put on a 1080p youtube video (although youtube videos output 720p or something like this - so I've read). The picture still looks amazing. Youtube does collate your view history. Which makes life easier if you want to watch it again. Also you can sign into your youtube account to access your favourites, likes etc. You can also like the videos and flag them. Not sure if you can add a comment.

Another thing this TV has managed to do is pick up my Plex Media Server without me doing anything. Now this is awesome! Although the menu on the screen isn't the same as watching Plex on a mobile where you get cover flow and IMBD ratings etc. It just lists the videos and any folders you have eg: my plex has Bollywood, Hollywood. Dramas, Documentaries folders and I can see these on the TV. If you click on one of these folders, eg: Hollywood then you can search using genre, date of release. items watched etc. Awesome!

Another thing this TV has is games on the LG App store. This is nice. You have to sign up to LG server to download apps but it's great. I downloaded a free darts app and works a treat. There are games like Batman and Spiderman on there too. but I think they are payable. Still was nice to see.

The Colours on the TV are nice. The settings I used are at the bottom of this review.

Overall: For the price this is an amazing TV and under £400 you can't get better. The TV has really nice colours and the smart TV functionality is awesome. Smart TV's are the future. Downsides are the sound could have more bass.

PROS
- Awesome colours and rich images
- Picks Up Plex Media Server (as long as you use the same network on the tv and the server)
- Can play pretty much lots of files (mkv, avi, h.264, mov) via the USB stick.
- Smart TV is nice, especially if used with a Magic Remote

CONS
- Sound could do with a little more bass. Play with the sound settings and you'll get something you like

Overall: Definitely worth considering buying this TV. 9.8/10 (0.2 reduced due to sound - again not a biggie unless your an audio junkie)

MY LG TV SETTINGS I USED AS A GUIDE - I found these settings on another amazon view. I played around with them a little bit like putting more contrast (plus or minus 5). You do the same as everyone has a different preference. My sound I did put on cinema sound. If you don't want to mess around with custom settings then the default or cinema settings are a good choice.

I prefer to keep any image processing enhancements like Tru-motion off or kept at a bare minimum.
