I've seen alot of 21:9 offers here at £299 for 29" so I thought I'd add one for a 34" for a tenner more

Here comes the science part:
EXPERIENCE THE NEW LEVEL OF IMMERSION ON 21:9 ULTRAWIDE GAMING MONITOR
21:9 UltraWide monitors opened up a whole new possibility that a wide-view display is not just as good as the other monitors, but even better. But what about for gaming? If the games have evolved to give you better feel of reality, monitor that fit such enhanced reality is, and will continue to be the 21:9 aspect large display. So, LG's 21:9 UltraWide monitor is gamer’s version of renowned monitor with specs to back the statement. Sill the immaculate 34-inch, 21:9 ratio aspect UltraWide view display with yet another kick- FreeSync boasts high performance in speed and immersive output. Just imagine crystal-clear visual immersion that also rids of a whole lot of hassles.

FEEL THE DIFFERENCE? THE 21:9 ULTRAWIDE FIELD OF VIEW.
UltraWide means immersion. And our 21:9 UltraWide means Ultra-immersive field of view. LG's 21:9 ratio is nothing like you’ve experienced before, especially compared to that of your past 16:9 monitor era. The wider screen does not just mean 'wider' screen space in gaming. It widens your choice of attack moves as this new 'standard' ratio will reveal more actions on the offensive line. You still play games with 16:9 monitor? You now have a plenty reasons to be dissatisfied.

NO MORE TEARING AND STUTTERING. WITH FREESYNC.
FreeSync engineered monitors can do what it does best- it eliminates tearing and stuttering that occur from the difference between a graphic card’s frame rate and monitor’s refresh rate. With FreeSync, you will not settle for anything less than seamless movements in 3D MMORPG ever again. It usually requires more than a nice monitor to fully enjoy 3D games with high-level specifications. When using the 21:9 UltraWide Monitor equipped with FreeSync, you no longer need to upgrade your graphic card to solve this mismatch issue and enjoy high-res, heavy-duty games without going through hassels.

* FreeSync is only available when it is connected to Display Port.

VIVID, LIVE, AND REAL. MORE, MORE, AND MORE.
Enjoy your games with the package of the latest tech features - IPS, 21:9 UltraWide FOV (Field of View) and over 99% sRGB colour space. Now has come the time to enhance immersion and performance altogether. LG's 34-inch, 21:9 Wider FOV and IPS & Over 99% of sRGB Colour Space means a sheer pleasure with a superb vividness that heightens the sense of reality. Go and win in the reality presented through its dynamic and dazzling picture qualities, while others are going to be sore losers on graphics-intensive games.

DO NOT LIMIT YOURSELF IN 4K MONITOR'S 60HZ REFRESH RATE.
Graphic-heavy games are fun because of its high realism, so they deserve the monitor with fitting speed. There is no more shadowy after images or blurred motion. With 21:9 ratio that fills your eyes, all you have to do is to just get into it.

TOP CLASS INPUT LAG LEVEL WITH DYNAMIC ACTION SYNC
Input lag often determines the winner, and rightly so. So, what has LG done about it? The Dynamic Action Sync mode in UM57 does away with such frustrations and allows you to instantly attack the opponent without delay especially while playing RTS games. What it ultimately offers is the synchronization of your senses with scenes- a must performance requisite for playing a fast-paced game.

TOP GAMES ARE FULLY READY FOR 21:9 ULTRAWIDE. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
'21:9 UltraWide is definitely in for more and more game scenes, and for good. As popular demand for 21:9 UltraWide monitor is permanent trend nowadays, game companies are designing games to support the 21:9 aspect ratio. Just take a look this list of popular games that support 21:9 view. EVEN IF some of the games in your shelf do not support 21:9, no reason to make sad face. Flawless Widescreen will skillfully fit your once-16:9 games into 21:9 frame.

*Many other games not included on the list also support 21:9 aspect ratio.

THE BLACK STABLIZER- YOU CAN NOW "AIM SMALL, MISS SMALL.
Black Stabilizer gives gamers full visibility, even in deep-dark scenes. It automatically senses the darkest side and makes it brighter so that you can find the enemies hiding and waiting to attack you in the dark and vice versa, by toning down flash bang attacks that can be menacing for FPS game players.

FPS AND RTS MODE. ONE SWITCH AWAY.
Game Mode that gives you the option of Gamer, FPS and RTS modes, provides customized gaming experience that vary depending on the specifics of each genre. With one simple tap on a joy stick within arm's reach, you can adjust and optimize the settings for the game of your taste. Since you can use this built-in joystick at the bottom of the monitor, you are ultimately increasing the odds of winning. Hey, others don’t have know.

TIME FOR WORK? JUST AS FUN AS GAMING, NOW.
34-inch 21:9 ratio display is now officially the favourite pick of people are into productivity. Game monitors, speedy in crunching frames they may be, but often cause people to look for other options for their work that involve multi-tasking and ample screen real estate to get the job done. nice deal for ultrawide freesync. Pair this with an R9 390 to take full advantage.
Good price. I think ultrawide is the way ahead rather than 4k, which is just a waste of pixels - running taxing games at high settings is beyond any single graphics card as it's 8 times as many pixels. It may sound obvious, but this monitor is exactly the same as a 27" 1920*1080 monitor but a few inches wider - 25% more pixels at the same dpi - so if you can run 1080p games you can drive this.

They do 29" ultrawide at this resolution - basically a wider version of a 23" 1920*1080 - they are a little cheaper.

Unless you have to sit more than a 3 feet from your monitor there isn't much benefit in getting the 34" at this resolution... except the big ones look amazing on your desk.

Personally I'm waiting for a 34" 3440*1440 to hit £350, by then we'll have a next gen 980ti. Should be good!
This looks like a cracking deal shame it's not 3440*1440. However I think they are about £800 if you want one with freesync
I wish lg did gsync ultra wides at this sort of price. Hot deal tho

I vote that its a good deal as I cant see it cheaper - Have some heat.
and over 99% sRGB colour space.
I got the 29 inch for £175.99 so this isn't that great. Good monitor though

There's no way that the usual price for that is £299

Beautiful monitor, shame they don't do 144hz versions of these... Since I switched to 144hz, my 60hz feels disgustingly slow!!

Link please?

is this good for photo and video editing
Not a bad price, but I'm pretty sure you can get it for £315 usually.
Thanks OP.
Really considering the variety of monitors out there.
What would be the most desirable features in a monitor?

I mean, this or 4k?

Thanks.

I'd hold out for another 34" monitor with 3440x1440px.. I ended up buying the AOC 34" for £380 because 1080p is a little unusable for my work..
10% student discount if you know anybody with a studentbeans account or maybe unidays. Pretty sure it will just give you a voucher code to use at checkout.

That's not a 21:9 aspect monitor.. It's also 24" and 4K. They're quite far apart in terms of likeness, personally I wouldn't compare the two..

I understand that they are very dissimilar in function and use but I'm just unsure who buys what, if that makes sense.

I would say they're brilliant for any software that operates in a timeline fashion, from anything like music DAW's to video editing software.. Personally I decided the 3440x1440 monitor was best for my work, I work as a composer, so the extended horizontal aspect without it being split on two monitors is like gold dust to me..
I do use it to play games mainly Diablo 3, but I'm sure the 4K monitors 16:9 or 16:10 would be far better.. Expect you'll need a beast of a graphics card to play games at 4K in the future...
does anyone know what the -P stands for?

It's 4x the pixels.
Hi guys, wondering if someone can give me some options and explain to me what the best monitor would be for pairing with a MacBook Pro Retina? Obviously the quality of the Retina Display is amazing so I'm looking for a monitor to be very close to it in terms of this. Apple Cinema Display is not an option unfortunately as it is very expensive and I don't even know if it is that good.

The main things I'm using it for are browsing and coding, perhaps a movie every now and then. No gaming on the MBP but it would be a good extra to have as I do have a PS3. Looking for at least 27".

Also, considering my needs, would 4K monitors be a good option?

Thanks!

It would be good to have the 3440x1440 version of this monitor as you like retina display. If you do video, image or music editing then all the tools can be on the left or right of the screen. You could play the playstation at 16:9 mode with black borders on sides. But if you did do pc gaming in the future alot of games do support 21:9 there.
4k 27" monitor is also good as it's got higher pixel count. Make sure it's 60hz though and has display port input.

I'm really sorry to be thick but can someone please enlighten me?

which on is better, this one in the deal or this one?

I understand that scan's is smaller however the model number is higher.
Reading around, can really see the difference other than size.

Thank you in advanced!
