ahemmmm.....Depends on distance from screen...... how far does the OP sit from said tv?

as it will not noticeably increase the picture quality

Picture quality has nothing to do with how far you are from the screen!

this is not a good price..

I have seen LH3000 and 4000 version of this telly at the same price.

full HD is essential in todays day and age.

full HD is essential in todays day and age.

All come down to what you want the tele for if it's just for sky then you do not need a full hd tele

1080p is essential if you use it as a PC monitor, cos the res on 720 is crap.
but blu-ray, PS3 and even sky/cable HD can be enjoyed at 720p.

you MAY notice a difference on a 37" on a blu ray disc between 720 and 1080.

but unless you have the blu ray, PC, ps3, can't really think of anything else outputting at 1920x1080 progressive.

for standard def TV, dvds, vhs etc, 1080p NOT essential.

I have the 37" lg5010 full HD cos its used as a monitor and my pc has blu ray.
had a 32" 720 and as a monitor, it just didnt go up high enough.

bottom line is the tv isnt cheap no matter what you are using it for.....
